1149 Making Grudges
After a few more hours, Cheng Gu was almost fully rested. He looked different from his usual gentle and elegant self as he slowly made his way to the warehouse. When Tan Jing saw Cheng Gu, she behaved as if she had seen her savior and thought that he was here to save her.
“Cheng Gu! Cheng Gu, save me! Are you here to save me! I know that you will definitely come and save me!” Tan Jing shouted at Cheng Gu expectantly.
Lu Miao stood at the side and kept quiet. The corners of his lips curled up into an ambiguous smile. Cheng Gu was the best at playing dumb to take advantage of someone and he had never met anyone who could do it better. Cheng Gu was also the person he admired the most in his life. If Cheng Gu was not their boss, he might be able to become an actor in the entertainment industry and garner a Best Actor award!
Cheng Gu slowly came round to stand in front of Tan Jing. The cold expression on his face made him look completely different from the Cheng Gu whom Tan Jing remembered. Tan Jing was about to say something when he slapped her mercilessly. She almost fell over along with the stool.
“You’re so noisy. How can you have so much nonsense to say… Do I make you feel shocked? That I’m actually someone like this,” Cheng Gu said with a mocking smile.
Tan Jing looked at Cheng Gu in disbelief and said in a trembling voice, “You… you lied to me? You lied to me? Is it a fake front? Have you been preying on my trust for you?”
“When did I lie to you? Don’t I mean everything I say to you? Don’t tell me everything I do for you is fake? You’re the one who read too much into it. Stupid woman, you even betray your husband’s family for another man. It’s really a pity that Xia Wen has a stupid pig like you as his wife,” Cheng Gu said regretfully.
“You know Xia Wen? Then everything you did was to get at the Xia family!” Tan Jing said with her eyes wide open.
“What else? Do you think it’s for you? Isn’t that thinking too highly of yourself? Look at yourself, how can you still think any man will be attracted to you! Dream on! You’re even jealous of Qiao Mei. If Xia Wen had married someone like Qiao Mei, then the Xia family would have achieved meteoric success five years ago and no one would be able to catch up with them. They won’t be in this state now,” Cheng Gu said.
The light in Tan Jing’s eyes gradually extinguished. No matter how stupid she was, she knew by now that Cheng Gu was only making use of her feelings to get information about the Xia family from her.
However, there was at least one good thing that came out of it. Qiao Mei was dead and as long as she could return to the Xia family alive, then the Xia family would still treat her well and might even compensate her for what she went through! At that time, her good days would be back!
The prerequisite was… she had to return alive.
“What exactly do you want? I can tell you anything. I can do anything,” Tan Jing asked.
“Not bad, not bad. You’re not too stupid if you know how to ask me this question.” Cheng Gu clapped his hands in admiration. It seemed that Tan Jing was not hopelessly stupid yet.
“I wonder what exactly it is that you want. You know that Xia Wen doesn’t care about me at all. I’m just an abandoned pawn to the Xia family. They won’t give up anything for an abandoned pawn,” Tan Jing said as calmly as she could.
Cheng Gu had no intention of using Tan Jing to get anything at all. He just wanted to see the Xia family destroyed.
He did not have any grudges with the three children of the Xia family, but he had a deep grudge with Xia Mao.
Xia He did not have anyone she cared about after her divorce. He had heard about a young man called Deng Fan, but they had not confirmed their relationship. Even if Deng Fan died, Xia He would not feel much. At most, she would feel guilty for a while.
If Xia He were to go to jail and lose the use of one or both of her legs there, it would probably be even worse than killing her! He had already arranged for people to take action the moment she went in. Even an immortal would not be able to save her!
As for Xia Zhe, Cheng Gu definitely felt that he deserved to die. However, there was no point in killing Xia Zhe. He wanted to kill Qiao Mei and her babies so that Xia Zhe would lose the loves of his life. Only a situation like that would allow him to vent the resentment in his heart.
Even at this point, Cheng Gu was still not satisfied yet. Xia Zhe should have received the news of Qiao Mei’s death by now and would probably be back soon. He wanted to make Xia Zhe, this unusually lucky man, paralyzed from waist down. His plan was to have his band of brothers beat Xia Zhe up so badly that Xia Zhe would have to live out the rest of his life in loneliness and misery!
