1183 As Long as She Likes It
“What are you doing? Did you stay up the entire night?” Qiao Mei asked in surprise.
“I think so. I just want to look at you,” Xia Zhe said with a blissful smile. He did not feel tired at all. Instead, he felt very secure and happy.
Qiao Mei pointed at the caregiver bed and said, “Sleep now! Go to sleep immediately! Otherwise, I’ll ask Sister Feng to come back and accompany me now and tell Mother to let you go home and rest.”
Xia Zhe could not argue with Qiao Mei, so he lay down on the small bed obediently and fell asleep. Qiao Mei then lay back on the bed and went back to sleep too. With professionals taking care of the children, they could feel at ease.
Time flew by and another week passed. Qiao Mei could already get out of bed slowly with assistance. In a few days, she would definitely recover even better and be one step closer to being able to go home.
Qian’e and Zheng Peng were finally able to take some time out to visit Qiao Mei. After Qian’e recovered from her illness, they had been so worried about Qiao Mei. They did not expect to eventually receive news of Qiao Mei’s death! Fortunately, Zheng Peng was close to the children and found out that Qiao Mei was still alive. Otherwise, Qian’e would definitely turn the world upside down in order to get more information from the Xia family.
Qian’e would insist on seeing Qiao Mei, no matter if she was dead or alive. Even if Qiao Mei was really dead, Qian’e would do her best to go to the Xia family residence to take a look at Qiao Mei’s body.
During this period of time, the two of them had been staying at Qiao Mei’s house to take care of Qiao Mei’s family. Qian’e actually wanted to know more about how Qiao Mei was faring, but the Xia family was in a mess at that time. It would not be good for her to cause more trouble by going there and it was also not that nice to trouble Zheng Peng to beg his father to get more information. All Qian’e could do was to wait patiently.
If they took good care of Qiao Mei’s family, it meant there was one less thing that Qiao Mei needed to worry about.
“Do you think Qiao Mei’s children will like our gifts? I wonder who the two children resemble more? It’ll be great if they both look like Qiao Mei. She’s so beautiful, so the two children naturally won’t look too bad! Also…” Along the way, Qian’e and Zheng Peng chatted non-stop, mainly about Qiao Mei’s children.
Qiao Mei had already told Zheng Peng about what happened to Qian’e and Qian’e had also been very frank with him. He actually did not have much desire to have children. He just wanted to love Qian’e and take good care of her for the rest of her life. It did not matter even if there was no one to support them in their old age in the future. It was enough as long as the two of them loved and supported each other.
If Qian’e really wanted children, they could go to the orphanage to see if there were any children whom she liked. Whatever Zheng Peng did, the prerequisite was that it must be something that Qian’e liked.
“Oh! I remember something! I still have a bag of good quality big dates at home! I should have brought them for Qiao Mei. I hear that soup made with dates is very nourishing. You must remind me the next time we come!” Qian’e said earnestly.
“Sure, sure, sure. I’ll remember everything you say. However, you should first find out if Qiao Mei is lacking anything. I heard from Qiao Mei’s mother that someone gave her a box of donkey-hide gelatin recently! Don’t buy things that she already has, otherwise she won’t be able to finish so much,” Zheng Peng said.
“Yes, what you say makes sense too. I’ll do what you say,” Qian’e said happily.
As they walked on, Qian’e suddenly realized that there was a very familiar person in front of her. Although this person had lost a lot of weight, Qian’e could recognize her immediately from the way she walked.
“He Mei! Stop right there!” Qian’e quickly rushed in front of He Mei to block her way.
“Oh my, isn’t this the jinx? Why are you so free to come here? Why are you coming out to look for trouble instead of staying at home! It’s so annoying to run into you,” He Mei said disdainfully.
Qian’e did not care about what He Mei said at all, even if it was all words of mockery. The thing that mattered to her was the fact that He Mei was heading towards the direction of Qiao Mei’s ward. To get to the VIP ward, apart from the patient’s private passageway and a dedicated passageway for doctors, there was also a passageway for family members. This was only accessible to people who could verify the relationship between the patient and themselves.
He Mei was holding a card that allowed her access to the family members’ passageway to the VIP ward. There was no way that He Mei was a good friend of the patient. That would be nonsense!
“Where are you going? Why do you have this card? If you’re sick, take another path. This is not where you should be going,” Qian’e said warily.
