1205 Send Her Back To Her Maternal Home
Before Xia Wen left, he turned around to look at the thin Xu Lan sitting at the table. The originally steely figure looked so fragile at the moment. It was all his fault. If he had not been so conflicted and hesitant, perhaps Tan Jing and the Xia family would not need to suffer so much.
He returned home with Tan Jing during the night, not to their house, but the Tan family’s house.
Jiang Yi put on a coat and opened the door groggily. When she saw Xia Wen and Tan Jing, she acted like she had seen a ghost and immediately closed the door and ran back into the house.
“Why are you so flustered!” Tan Bo said disdainfully.
“Tan Jing! Xia Wen brought Tan Jing back! They’re just outside! Hurry up and put on an act! Don’t expose the truth!” Jiang Yi said in a panic. She was so frightened that she quickly picked up the tea jar to drink a full glass of water as she patted her chest to calm herself down.
Tan Bo hurriedly messed up the bedding and blanket. He poured some water from the metal tea jar into his palms and rubbed it over his head, messing up his hair. Then, he lay motionlessly on the bed.
Jiang Yi dressed up properly and tidied up the house before going to the door to welcome Xia Wen.
“Why are you here in the middle of the night? It’s so cold. Come in quickly,” Jiang Yi said.
Xia Wen helped Tan Jing into the house and did not even bother to look at Tan Bo. He only cared about putting a blanket over Tan Jing so that she could have a good sleep. Jiang Yi stood at the side and looked at Xia Wen quietly.
It was really abnormal that they did not go home in the middle of the night but came here instead. Moreover, Tan Jing was sleeping so soundly, but there was no smell of alcohol on her, so why was she unconscious?
“Um… are you staying for the night too?” Jiang Yi asked curiously.
“I won’t be staying over. I’m just sending Tan Jing home,” Xia Wen said lightly.
“Why is it that the two of you don’t go back to your own house but come here in the middle of the night instead? Is there some conflict between the two of you? Or did Tan Jing make you angry because she has not been sensible enough?” Jiang Yi asked.
Xia Wen pondered for a moment before saying, “Tan Jing and I are divorced.”
Tan Bo was so shocked that he almost opened his eyes and grabbed Xia Wen by the collar to give him a good scolding. However, he still needed to rely on the Xia family’s divine medicine to extend his life! He must continue to put on an act. Even without him, Jiang Yi knew what to do next.
“You have divorced my daughter! Did the two of them force you to get a divorce? Why are you getting a divorce for no reason! Every family has its own difficulties. What is so bad that it can’t be overcome?” Jiang Yi said.
“I think I’ve already made it very clear to you the last time. She has made a very grave mistake and my family can’t accommodate her anymore. My parents don’t know about this yet and I’m the one who made the decision. If you still want to go to my house to cause trouble, it’s fine. At most, I’ll just send Tan Jing to jail. None of your sons can escape as well, each of them will have to go to jail for at least eight to ten years,” Xia Wen said forcefully.
Jiang Yi pointed at Xia Wen and said angrily, “Xia Wen! Back then, you were the one who begged me to let Tan Jing marry you! Yet you’re treating her like this now! Are you even human! Why is my daughter unconscious! Did you do something to her! You bastard! What right do you have to divorce my daughter!”
Tan Bo raised a trembling hand and pretended to be weak as he pointed at Xia Wen and said, “Beast… You beast… How can you treat my daughter like this… You heartless thing…”
These two people seemed to be standing up for Tan Jing, but they were actually doing it for the Tan family. If Tan Jing left the Xia family, all the glory which the Tan family enjoyed would disappear in an instant. The people they bullied in the past would definitely take this opportunity to come knocking on their door, and some would even kick them when they were down.
They must protect the couple’s marriage at all costs. It did not matter even if it only existed in name, or if Tan Jing was imprisoned by the Xia family for the rest of her life, or even if Xia Wen beat Tan Jing up every day! As long as they did not get a divorce, the Tan family would allow Xia Wen to deal with Tan Jing as he pleased.
“Dad, it seems that you’re quite sick. No wonder Mom had to ask Qiao Mei for the ‘divine medicine’. Have you gone to the hospital for a checkup?” Xia Wen asked hypocritically.
Jiang Yi thought that she would be able to scam Xia Wen of his money, so she quickly took out Tan Bo’s medical report and said, “Your father had gone to the hospital to do a checkup and it cost a lot of money! It’s not enough to only drink the medicine which Qiao Mei gave us, but he also has to eat other supplements. These are all huge expenses!”
Xia Wen took the report to take a look. It indeed belonged to Tan Bo, but it was dated half a year ago.
