Everyone was shocked. All the while, Gu Qingqing was never an outspoken person in the office. In almost all situations, she would rather lay low than attract unnecessary attention to herself. It was baffling on why she would step up to stop a celebrity supported by Leng Sifeng from leaving the place.

Chen Wenjie frowned and lifted her head. The woman that stood in her way was elegant in stature. Her slightly curled hair draped over her shoulder, highlighting a well-shaped neckline. Though her outfit was unbranded, she looked beautiful in her simplicity. Especially her pair of eyes; both clouded with indifference as if mocking herself in her self-induced calmness.

 Her’s was an extremely familiar face to Cheng Wenjie. She remembered seeing her somewhere. That said, Chen Wenjie spent a great deal of time in the entertainment industry. She had crossed paths with countless female celebrities. All of them looked almost the same anyway. Even their own parents might not recognize them if they all gathered at once at the same place. In other words, there was a good chance that Chen Wenjie’s mind was playing a trick on her.

 “Who do you think you are? How dare you speak so rudely? Did you not hear what I told you?! Or, perhaps you believe our Jenny didn’t make herself clear enough to you! We are leaving because you have failed to meet our demands!” said the assistant.

 Gu Qingqing ignored the jumpy assistant and glared at Chen Wenjie.

 “Who do you think you are then? The way you’re talking is completely unacceptable! Didn’t you hear us clearly? Our vice manager told you that the contract does not require us to prepare all your clothes and makeup. Our contract only stated that you have to cooperate with us until we complete the shooting! Of course, feel free to leave, but only after you’ve paid us the penalty for breaching your contract! Pay us, and you can leave.”

 Gu Qingqing refrained from confronting her during the event because she knew that it was pointless. Work was work, and private matters were private matters. This was supposed to be work. Now that she had failed to adhere to the rules, she would have to stop her from leaving come what may. Everyone, including Chen Wenjie’s assistant, was stunned by what she said.

 After a short pause, Chen Wenjie was genuinely furious. After hooking up with Leng Sicheng, she had gained herself smooth passage up the ranks of Royal Strike Entertainment. Her acting skills had significantly improved after spending some time honing her expertise in the industry. With the help of Leng Sicheng, she managed to enroll in a couple of auditions headed by famous directors. Among her competitors, she was lucky enough to qualify as the lead character in one of the director’s productions. As a matter of fact, the shooting was about to start real soon.

 The good thing about being together with Leng Sicheng was that even if Leng Sicheng broke up with her, he would still leave her with enough resources to thrive in her career. Though they hadn’t yet slept together, she would not give up until Leng Sicheng grew fonder of her. She wished dearly in her heart for Leng Sicheng to divorce his current wife and marry her instead.

 Though she looked familiar, Chen Wenjie felt she didn’t give off the vibe of a woman with a rich and powerful background. She quizzed herself on how a small-time employee had the guts to go against her.

 “Who are you? How dare you speak to me like that? Don’t you know who has my back?!”

 “We all know it’s Leng Sicheng. So what?! A contract is a contract! Whether he’s here or not, its rules are binding! I won’t stop you from leaving, but YOU MUST pay us first!”

 Chen Wenjie had only recently tasted the fruits of fame. She would never allow others to talk her down like that. Immediately, she lifted up her hand, intending to land her a hard slap.

 Suddenly, a man from Gu Qingqing blocked the slap.

 “Ms. Chen. This has gone too far.”
