Everyone’s attention was focused on Gu Qingqing and Chen Wenjie. They had not realized that a group of people was beginning to form behind them. The person in front of Gu Qingqing, who was defending her, was wearing a silver suit. His gentle looks were frozen cold with frost when he looked at Chen Wenjie. He seemed like the kind of man who had a strong sense of duty and justice. Then, amongst the group standing behind him were the company’s higher-ups, shareholders, managers, and other employees.
Gu Qingqing turned around, catching a glimpse the man who seemed strangely familiar.
“Who are you again?! Let me go now!”
The man grabbed Chen Wenjie by the hand. Out of sheer shock, she immediately mustered all the strength, attempting to flee his iron grip. He glared at her, worried that she might attack Gu Qingqing again. As a response, he quickly pushed her aside. At the sudden shove, Gu Qingqing lost her balance and was forced to take a few steps back. An assistant nearby jumped to support her, saving her from falling.
“HEY!!! Who do the hell do you think you are?! How are you push me? I’m pressing charges!!! I want to meet your superior! If you fail to compensate me properly, I will crush this company!” shouted a very furious Chen Wenjie.
“Is that right? I’m so sorry. If you are looking for the person in charge of this company, then I’m the man you should be looking for,” said the man with a smile.
Upon hearing that, everyone was left in shock, especially Gu Qingqing and Zhang Yuxi. Both of them knew that the new boss was coming to check on them today, but they did not expect that he would just show up in a moment like this. The most important thing, however, was that he was young and handsome.
The thing that surprised Gu Qingqing the most was that he seemingly recognized this person.
“You?”
Chen Wenjie swiftly scanned him, noticing that he had put on a set of costly clothing. His presence was an entire aura that emanated elegance. Still, he was the CEO of a small company. Chen Wenjie believed that she was good enough to stand up against him.
“How dare you treat me like this if you know who I am?!”
“So what? Everything the lady said to you earlier was correct! This is work, and there are rules that we all have to follow!” said the man in a calm but stern manner.
“Ms. Chen. This is one of Lin Group’s shareholders, Mr. Lin Zhouyi. He has just graduated from Princeton University in America and is more than capable of leading this company.”
Though Lin Group was nowhere nearly as powerful as Leng Group, they were considered as one of the top-tier families of Yan City. Chen Wenjie did not expect to have such an influential man standing before her. Immediately, she calmed herself and toned her voice a notch lower.
“I see. You are ‘the’ Mr. Lin. It’s good to finally meet you.”
“I think that Ms. Chen is unfit for the photoshoot today. Ms. Chen, please head back first. We will send you a new schedule once we are better prepared,” said Lin Zhouyi while staring at her. He did not scold, nor did he mock her.
Chen Wenjie nodded and left with her assistant. The moment they were out of sight, the silent office roared into hushed whispers. Gu Qingqing was left in a dazed shock. In embarrassment and confusion, she quickly retreated to a corner and nodded awkwardly.
“Thank you for what you did just now.”
“You are most welcome. I never thought I’d ever get to see you again,” replied Lin Zhouyi with a warm smile. The frost on his face was all but gone.
