Gu Qingqing turned speechless as she looked at her colleagues that were rampantly gossiping about her. She had completely lost whatever compassion that remained inside her heart.

 For the entire day, Gu Qingqing found it really hard to concentrate on her tasks. Other than Chen Wenjie’s incident, there was nothing else she needed to attend to. Besides, a huge change was about to hit the entire company, and job security was on everyone’s minds.

Gu Qingqing was clearly bothered by Li Zhouyi’s earlier antics. She felt no joy whatsoever even after receiving compliments from her new boss. On the contrary, she was afraid. The sole purpose of her starting to work for this company was to earn more money for herself, not to fish for rich and capable men.

 She felt extremely uncomfortable at Lin Zhouyi’s display of intimacy. There had been a bitter rivalry between the Lin and Leng family for umpteen years. Though they were not enemies, they were certainly not friends either. Besides, Lin Zhouyi belonged to the upper echelons of society. In other words, there was a high chance that he would meet up with Leng Sicheng someday.

It was entirely possible that Zhou Sicheng might tell him that she worked at his company. By that time, she would have suffered unimaginable consequences. To make things even more unpleasant, the way her colleagues all stared at her had given her a lot of anxiety.

 Alternatively, she could always just quit and look for a new company to join. If she decided to quit eventually, it might take off the massive load of stress and anxiety that was bogging her down.

 She got off work sharp at 5 p.m. Her maid called her right away.

 “What are we having for dinner? Can we do a steamboat if there are lots of raw ingredients?” asked an excited Gu Qingqing.

 “No. Madam. What I want to say is…”

 Before the maid could finish, her cellphone went dead, having run out of battery. Suddenly, she remembered that she had gotten into a huge fight with Chen Wenjie earlier. Would Chen Wenjie remember her?

 Lin Zhouyi and Chen Wenjie had met her once today, and Chen Wenjie could easily describe Gu Qingqing’s appearance to Leng Sicheng. What would Leng Sicheng be imagining? These thoughts had Gu Qingqing smiling. She took comfort in the fact that that there was no way Leng Sicheng would know it was her just by listening to Chen Wenjie’s description.

 Ever since she met Leng Sicheng when she was a tender 15, Leng Sicheng always eyeballed with an ice-cold stare. Even after they got married and had sex, he never changed the way he looked at her. Before marriage, she simply thought that Leng Sicheng was just bad when it came to people. After they’d gotten married, she gradually came to the realization that he was really difficult to live with, having scary bursts of unpredictable mood swings at his whim and fancy.

 In her heart, Gu Qingqing knew that she was bound to serve him properly every time he came for a visit. At the beginning of it all, Gu Qingqing served him out of love. Soon, that love was replaced by disappointment. Now, she was just doing what she was supposed to do as a wife. Love was no longer to be found in their relationship. At least, Gu Qingqing was still trying her best to please Leng Sicheng. Despite her best efforts, however, he was never happy with her.

 Sometimes, she would feel jealous of the rumored girlfriend that he had. He would buy them all kinds of luxurious items. But how about her? Leng Sicheng did not even bother to give her a ring during their wedding.

 Wait a minute.

 He did give her a ring a long time ago but that was just by accident.

 Gu Qingqing had arrived at the villa in her car. The doors were strangely ajar, a situation which puzzled her.

 “Madam, sir is back.” said the maid.
