Chapter 126 Friendship in A Crisis
“Why would you ask such a question? Did I do something wrong that made you suspect our friendship?” Looking at Emily, who was still acting strangely, Jocelyn asked.
“Of course not. I just watched a movie about friendship yesterday, so I was a little sentimental.”
Emily hid the fact that Carina had been here, as well as her conversation with her.
She asked Jocelyn to be absolutely honest with her. She asked Jocelyn to become a transparent person with no secrets in front of her. However, she could not be the person she asked others to be.
Hearing that Emily was only having these thoughts because of the movie, Jocelyn didn’t think much of it. The gloominess in her heart was swept away, and she started to eat her burger.
However, after taking two bites, Emily spoke again.
“Jocelyn, why were you hospitalized two days
ago?”
Hearing Emily’s question, Jocelyn smiled and told her what she had told Carina.
“Is it really that simple? We’re friends, and I don’t want you to hide anything from me. Friends should be honest with each other, right?”
Emily put down the sandwich and stared straight at Jocelyn, as if she wanted to see deep down inside her.
Looking at Emily’s aggressive gaze, Jocelyn felt very uncomfortable. At the same time, she did not agree with what Emily said.
Although she and Emily were friends, at the same time, she was an independent entity. She should have her own private space and secrets. Why should one be honest with their friends and keep no secrets from them. How could there be someone in this world who had no secrets?
“Emily, why would you think that? We may be friends, but that doesn’t mean I have to be transparent in front of you.”
“You asked me to not hold anything back from you, but are you holding something back from
me?”
Jocelyn’s question hit Emily hard, making her feel even more complicated.
On one hand, she did not want to admit that Jocelyn was right, but on the other hand, she felt that Carina was right.
However, she did hold back something from Jocelyn, but that did not stop her from thinking that what Carina said was right. Jocelyn did not treat her as her best friend, or else she would not have avoided the topic and not answered her question.
This made Emily feel like she made a mistake in becoming Jocelyn’s friend.
“I’m sorry about what I just said. I’m not feeling well, so I’ll go first.”
Emily put down the sandwich that she had just taken a bite of and stood up to leave Jocelyn’s side. She was afraid that if she sat down again, she might fall out with Jocelyn.
If it were the poor Jocelyn in the past, Emily wouldn’t care if they fell out, but now, Jocelyn was still Aren’s fiancée.
She needed to rely on her relationship with Jocelyn to obtain her goal. So even if she was unhappy, she could not fall out with Jocelyn. Looking at Emily’s departing figure, Jocelyn was at a loss. She did not know what she had done wrong again, which made Emily unhappy. This made Jocelyn feel very distressed, and even when she was working in the afternoon, she did not feel energetic.
Fortunately, there were not many guests today, so Jocelyn and Emily were very free. However, there was one thing that made Jocelyn unhappy. She felt that Emily was avoiding her.
The two of them still did not reconcile after work.
Two days later, Jocelyn found that Emily and Carina were getting closer and closer, and the distance between her and Emily was getting wider and wider. She wanted to say something to Emily, but soon she would have to return to school and it would be time for class.
“Emily, although I don’t know why, I feel like you’re angry with me. If you have time, I’ll treat you to coffee this weekend. Can the two of us talk this through? You’re the first friend I met in the studio. I don’t want to fall out with you.”
Jocelyn took out her phone and sent this message to Emily.
At this moment, Emily was with Carina. She looked at the message on her phone and felt a stir in her heart. However, before this ripple could spread, it was dispersed by Emily.
After two days of calmness, Emily had already figured out her position, so she did not plan to give Jocelyn the cold shoulder.
If she really lost Jocelyn as a friend, she would be the one who suffered.
