Chapter 153 Looking for Evidence
It took Eliza a while to recover her voice.
“So all of this is fake?” Eliza’s voice suddenly rose. “I thought that you finally found your true love and could finally have a happy life. I didn’t expect all of this to be fake.”
Eliza sighed. While she felt sad for Jocelyn, she also felt angry. “But don’t worry, I will always stand firmly on your side. I will definitely not let that man called Miles bully you.”
Jocelyn was afraid that she would do something irreversible, so she quickly stopped her. “Don’t do anything illegal.” “Although the fact that he threatened me makes me very angry and I want to punish him, I don’t want him to die,” Jocelyn emphasized. Looking at how Jocelyn looked like she was afraid of her doing something illegal, Eliza couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
“My dear, I’m not a Mafia. Why would I kill people?”
“I just want to teach this person a lesson so that he won’t dare to pester you anymore.” Hearing that, Jocelyn heaved a sigh of relief. “Eliza, you’re really the most generous friend I’ve ever seen,” Jocelyn said with a sincere look.
Goosebumps rose on Elisa’s skin at the sweet tone in Jocelyn’s voice. She was not used to such a sweet Jocelyn.
“Alright, alright. Shut up and eat. After dinner, we have to discuss how to deal with that despicable man.”
Hearing that, Jocelyn suddenly felt that her stomach was empty.
She rubbed her belly and, holding a knife and fork in her hands, started devouring the stake in front of her..
In front of Eliza was a small piece of lamb chop. The two of them quietly ate a meal, some dessert, and drank a glass of fruit juice. Jocelyn rubbed her full stomach, looking satisfied and a little sleepy.
Resisting the urge to yawn, Jocelyn said, “I didn’t know much about Miles before, but from the way he threatened me, I think he probably did a lot of similar things. We can start from there and find out what bad things he did.”
“After we get the evidence, he won’t be able to threaten me anymore.”
What Jocelyn said was just her guess, and she was a bit too optimistic. With just a week, Eliza wasn’t sure if she could really find the evidence that Jocelyn was talking about, but she was determined that even if she couldn’t find evidence, she could create evidence against Miles.
In short, she wouldn’t let anything happen to Jocelyn, and she wouldn’t let anyone hurt her. “Alright, we’ll do as you say.” Eliza nodded and agreed.
A week seemed to have passed in the blink of an eye. However, there was still no good news from Eliza, which made Jocelyn anxious. However, she knew that Eliza was already doing her best to help her. It was not her fault that she couldn’t find any evidence. One week was, after all, too short. But Jocelyn’s appetite began to diminish visibly, and at the same time she stayed up later and later.
Seeing that the day was about to come, Eliza already had the intention to give up on the investigation and instead began to instruct her people to create evidence that Miles was threatening others. On the other side, Susan dropped in on Diana. Looking at Diana’s emaciated face, she felt heartbroken and worried.
“After I heard about you from your butler, I was very worried, Diana. What is plaguing you that makes you look so haggard? I almost can’t recognize you.”
Susan sat beside Diana and grabbed her hand. The heat in her palm seemed to burn the back of Diana’s hand, making Diana retract her hand immediately.
Having recognized that it was Susan, Diana put on a faint smile on her pale face. “I’m sorry, I didn’t recognize you just now.”
