Chapter 159 Say What’s on Your Mind
Luke was Aren’s assistant and was by his side 24 hours a day. To Susan, having Luke’s phone number was not much different from having Aren’s.
When the phone rang, Luke was preparing the black coffee for Aren.
The sound of the phone vibrating in his pants made Luke tremble suddenly, and he almost spilled his coffee he was holding.
However, he was responsive and managed to stabilize himself in time.
Although the coffee wasn’t spilled, Aren was still very unhappy with the sound of Luke’s phone ringing. In fact, this discontent towards everything Luke did had been going on for a week.
For the past week, Luke felt like he was walking on a knife’s edge. It was so dangerous that he didn’t dare to sleep at night, afraid that he would miss Aren’s message and give him an excuse and reason to punish him.
However, during this week, although he didn’t make any mistakes, he still looked tired, beginning to have dark circles and eye bags at a young age. This made him look a lot older than Aren.
“I’ll give you a minute to answer your phone.” Aren glared at Luke and returned his attention to his document.
Luke exhaled deeply when he saw that Aren had no intention of pursuing the matter. He quickly pulled his phone out of his pocket and looked at the unfamiliar number displayed on the screen.
Though unhappy, he still answered the call.
“Hello, I’m Master Aren’s assistant, Luke. May I know who is calling?” Luke spoke to the person on the other end of the phone in a gentlemanly voice.
Hearing Luke’s voice on the phone, Susan heaved a sigh of relief. This meant that the number she saved was not wrong. She successfully got in touch with Aren.
Susan tried to conceal her emotions. “Hello, I’m Susan Edward. I saw Jocelyn at the Toronto Hotel outside Ivy University. She’s in a room with a man.”
Susan’s words were like a bomb that blew up Luke’s mind, and his calm expression disappeared.
Luke was shocked, and he couldn’t help but scream in his heart.
He was wondering why Aren’s mood did not improve after going to see Miss Jocelyn. It turned out that Miss Jocelyn had an affair.
The case was solved!
The reason why Aren’s temper was so bad these days was because his fiancée was cheating on him. Luke instantly forgave the mental pressure Aren had put on him these days.
Compared to him who needed to work overtime, Aren, who was about to lose his fiancée, looked more pitiful.
The sympathetic look on his face was immediately noticed by Aren. “One minute is up.” Aren looked at the time displayed on the computer and looked at Luke. This time, however, there was no fear on Luke’s face anymore. Instead, there was pity and sympathy on his face, which confused Aren.
“Why are you still standing there?”
Although Luke still wanted to hear what Susan had to say, Aren had already given the order, so he had to hang up. On the other end of the line, Susan could hear the anger in Aren’s voice. She wanted to urge Luke to hand the phone to Aren so that she could tell him about Jocelyn’s affair.
However, she did not expect the phone to be hung up without a warning.
Susan couldn’t help but wonder if Luke had been bribed by Jocelyn. Otherwise, why would he hang up on her instead of handing the phone to Aren?
Luke looked at Aren and hesitated.
Although Aren was working with his head lowered and not looking at Luke, he could feel a strange gaze fixing on him.
“Say what’s on your mind.” While flipping through the document, Aren signed his name on it and urged Luke.
Hearing that, Luke immediately straightened his back and his body stiffened.
He even remembered the science fiction book he read last night when he couldn’t sleep. He now seriously suspected that Aren was just an AI robot.
If Aren was not a robot, how could he detect that he had something to say?
