Chapter 198: Paying A Visit to The Brown Villa
Butler Camilla quickened her pace without saying anything, which made Susan, who was wearing high heels, felt displeased.
Today, she was wearing a pair of high heels that she had just bought. When she walked slowly, she could still tolerate it, but when she walked quickly, she felt like her skin was about to be scraped off by the high heels.
Susan looked like she was in pain. She wanted to ask Camilla to stop, but after thinking for a while, she endured the pain in her ankle and followed Camilla to the door of the villa.
Camilla opened the door in front of her and gestured for Susan to enter.
At this moment, Susan finally felt like a guest. The flesh on her feet hurt so much that it was as if it was burning.
However, Susan held back the pain and smiled politely at Old Madam Brown. At the same time, she was grateful that Aren had not gone to work yet.
“Good morning, Old Madam Brown and Master Aren. Please forgive me for dropping in on you so early in the morning. I have something very important to tell the two of you, so I took the liberty to come and disturb you. Please forgive me for being rude.”
When Susan said this, she looked at Aren with sympathy and pity, as if something unfortunate had happened to him.
Aren had just finished his breakfast. Although it was still some time before his usual working hours started, he thought about the work he didn’t finish yesterday and decided to go to the office early.
If he completed it earlier, he could get off work earlier and go home today to see Jocelyn.
Aren did not look at Susan, who was standing in front of him. Instead, he turned to look at Old Madam Brown and said, “Grandma, I’m going to work. See you tonight.”
With that, Aren left the living room. From the beginning to the end, he did not look at Susan at all, as if she was invisible.
Although Susan’s family was not as rich as the Brown family, it was still considered a rich family. Ever since she was young, Susan had been pampered by her parents and she had never suffered such humiliation.
So the moment Aren walked past Susan, Susan’s expression became extremely ugly. However, she realized that Old Madam Brown was still around, so she immediately adjusted her expression.
Sussan thought Old Madam Brown didn’t see the subtle change of expression on her face but little did she know that wearing that pair of glasses, Old Madam Brown saw it clearly and unmistakably.
Old Madam Brown did not have a good impression of Susan to begin with.
Now, seeing her displeased expression, her impression of Susan hit rock bottom, and at the same time her impression of Diana worsened as well.
Although Old Madam Brown was a little unhappy with what Susan had just done, she didn’t show it on her face.
She enthusiastically invited Susan to sit on the sofa as if nothing had happened. Between the two of them was a fruit plate filled with fresh fruit.
Though Susan had a forced smile on her face, to Old Madam Brown, it was nothing like the smile Jocelyn put on, which was pure and healing.
“I wonder what Miss Susan is here to talk about today?” Old Madam Brown was not interested in beating around the bush with Susan. She forked herself a piece of watermelon and asked directly.
Susan originally wanted to talk to Old Madam Brown for a while before touching on her purpose of coming today. She didn’t expect Old Madam Brown to be so straightforward.
This stunned Susan for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure while putting on a worried expression.
As if she had rehearsed it thousands of times in her mind, she said without pausing, “Actually, I came today because I accidentally saw something yesterday. Actually, it has nothing to do with me, but I can’t stand watching anyone deceive Master Aren.”
“And what happened yesterday has been lingering in my mind, making me unable to sleep at night. If I don’t tell you the truth, I will feel uneasy.”
Susan held her chest and said very sincerely. Old Madam Brown seemed to be interested, asking, “Oh? I wonder what is troubling you so much.”
Susan bit her lip, trying to look conflicted so as to get Old Madam Brown to ask her.
However, Old Madam Brown started eating her watermelon and didn’t seem to have the intention of raising any question.
Being ignored again, Susan almost lost her composure. She took two deep breaths to calm down before continuing.
“What I’m about to say has something to do with Master Aren’s fiancée, Jocelyn.”
