Chapter 8
Aurora couldn’t possibly avoid the sword.
She’s just one of those daughters of an Earl save for her love of embroidering. If she rides a horse to the next town, she’ll be completely exhausted and if she dances 3 times times in a row, she’ll also be exhausted. To this young lady who does embroidery under the sun on daily basis, she couldn’t quickly avoid a sword coming towards her direction.
Aurora opened her mouth dumbly and looked up into the sky. As though someone used a magic that could control time, the sword still flew slowly in her direction. The blade that’s reflected on Aurora’s green eyes sparkled like a midday star.
The sword should probably fall straight right to her head as she began to hear the buzzing sound of the blade.
She couldn’t even close her eyes.
—KRRT!
She heard a short and sharp, loud sound. The moment she heard it, something blew away the sword.
“What… ”
“Lady Porta!”
A silver-white figure overshadowed Aurora along with the sounds of broken blade. Perking up, she finds two sparkling blue eyes firmly looking at her—it was Felix el le Clavis.
“Are you all right?”
“Yes…”
Aurora gasped as she responds, she glanced at the blood running down his cold skin. Seeing this made her dizzy and her head rocked back and forth.
“Do you have any wounds? Are you hurt?”
“I… I was… just… surprised…”
As she slowly glanced around, she found a sword and some ice on the ground not far away from her, those ice must be the ones that flew and changed the trajectory of the sword. Aurora recalls their conversation about Felix’s magic affinity which is ice. As expected of an excellent magic knight—to move the sword in such a short notice.
“Why have you descended from the gallery?”
Grasping both of her shoulders, Aurora turned her head and was brought back to reality.
Looking at his direction, Felix’s beautiful face was distorted at the height of his anger, he was kneeling on the ground while glaring at Aurora. The place cleared up showing a pleasant blue sky but it also showed the short distance between their faces.
Aurora began to realize that this was the first time he touched her since that evening party and the thought of it almost paralyzed her.
For this young brave, serious, and short-spoken knight, wouldn’t touch her so easily. He is a very good fiancee.
Felix’s normal expression was blown away by the situation for had she took one wrong step on the ground, she could have been seriously injured or worse, she might have dead. At the thought of it made her back cold and she subconsciously shuddered.
“You can’t possibly have forgotten that it’s dangerous to leave the gallery.”
Aurora looked back at Felix’s vehement gaze, scolding her with bitter voice like a teacher in the Military Academy scolding his new student.
His pupils trembled, swaying from purple to blue—was it due to anger or resentment? Or was it because he was just fighting earlier and at the height of the battle, even his white skin is flushing red. Why does he have the look of a child in a bad mood about to cry?
Felix have been in a bad mood since they arrived in the Order of Knights but now, he’s clearly in a terrible mood than before. Sometimes, Aurora would wonder if his handsome face would ever distort in such a bad shape and it seems he’s also a human being.
But when she saw the red streaks of blood on his cheeks, Aurora gasped loudly and brought herself back to reality.
“Lady Porta?”
Perhaps due to his impatience of not hearing any proper responses from Aurora, Felix called her in a deep voice with his brows creasing.
All the ladies who adores Felix would be surprised to see his handsome face turning scary. But if it’s his handsome face, then it doesn’t seem to be scary for Aurora.
Striking him back with a smile, Aurora suddenly took out a handkerchief from a hidden pocket in her dress. Felix’s eyes that looked like evening starry sky, trembled under her touch as if he was paralyzed in his feet.
“Cla……..ded.”
“Please pardon me, can you repeat what you said?”
She nodded and pressed the handkerchief on his cheek. The ground was soaked with red blood and stained the white handkerchief. She laughs and muttered to his fiancee that have turned quite stiff—
“Because I saw Clavis-sama getting wounded.”
He swallowed his breath as she pressed his wound with a little more pressure so as to stop the bleeding.
“I was so worried that I came down without thinking.”
All I can do is worry about you.
—Aurora swallowed her words as she smiled. Felix’s brows creased. Although it might be a small wound, it may still be painful.
Touching his wounds gently and carefully, her handkerchief wiped Felix’s skin which even have some slight burned skin. She slowly pressed down the wounds like she’s gently drying up a wet hair.
“If you wish to keep me safe, then please don’t make me worry.”
Strangely enough, he’s reckless and innocent. He’s a son of a powerful family but if he were to die it would surely incur a heavy loss.
It’s natural for a fiancee like Aurora to worry about him. Even though their engagement was temporarily done for their own personal convenience—for one it would be to ward off women and two, to be excused from attending social gatherings.
It was said that those with noble titles must have spirit of service. It’s like an extended view of philanthropy.
Aurora smiled at Felix, her natural smiled with her full-fronted smile gracing.
Felix’s eyes blinked in wonder, his eyes turned away with his cheeks slightly reddening.
“It will heal once I cleaned it up.”
“Please treat it properly. Besides it’s an injury that you don’t need to bear, right?
Aurora wasn’t able to start with her words when another voice intrudes to which she frowns as she looked over Felix’s shoulders.
Picking up the sword which lay beside the melted ice, the golden-haired man noticed Aurora’s gaze, and sends a smile full of hostility. This smile can only be seen over Felix’s shoulder.
—The man couldn’t stomach looking at them.
“Please don’t make me worry, do you promise?”
She lightly touched his face and smiled but when she was tried to release her touch, Felix caught her fingers and looked back to her gaze.
“I will do my best.”
As Felix answered, his eyes were back to it’s icy colors as his eyes narrowed.
Aurora felt her stomach churned at the suddenly intimacy and Felix immediately released the hold in her hands.
There was a strange silence between the two making Aurora frown.
——CLAP! CLAP!
A couple of applause breaks the unnerving silence.
“You acted in a commendable speed at the end.”
The air moves as if it had been released from the curse. Both Felix and Aurora turned their heads and saw a black haired man moving towards their direction with a smile. He’s got the deep purple eyes, the eyes that’s peculiar only to those of the royal family.
The man beamed Aurora with a smile while she eyed him suspiciously.
“Eric-sama?”
“Ya, long time no see. Lady Porta.”
She remembered him well.
It was the self-proclaimed court magician who entered her balcony to see her face.
