Chapter 923: Getting Into Trouble
Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
No one expected that Connor had just saved Lindsy and Tamia.
However, the first thing Lindsy said to him was not a word of gratitude. Instead, she questioned him, asking why he had resorted to violence against Jovan.
The atmosphere at the school gate became awkward in an instant.
“Lindsy, what are you saying? Connor and Dominic were only trying to help. If Connor hadn’t intervened, do you think those people would have let us go so easily?” Tamia’s expression showed confusion as she tried to explain.
Connor understood that Lindsy’s question was likely because she didn’t want him to get involved in physical altercations.
Maybe Lindsy and Jovan knew each other, and they were having some relationship issues. Their interference might have ruined something between them.
Connor looked at Lindsy with a helpless smile and said, “I didn’t know you were acquainted with Jovan. It seems like we’ve been meddling in other people’s business. Let’s go, Dominic.”
After saying this, he turned around and started walking ahead.
Dominic also realized what was going on and a hint of helplessness flashed in his eyes. He whispered, “When we heard your cry for help, we thought you really needed assistance. We didn’t expect our good intentions to cause trouble…”
Tamia stood in place, her expression showing confusion. After a moment of contemplation, she seemed to realize that something was amiss and hurriedly spoke to Lindsy, “Lindsy, if you really wanted to leave with Jovan, why didn’t you tell me? I wouldn’t have been so worried about you. What’s happening now? Connor and the others saved us with good intentions, yet we seem ungrateful. I really don’t know what to say to you…”
“What are you all talking about here?” Lindsy furrowed her brows and shouted, then she chased after Connor with her long, fair legs, shouting loudly, “Stop right there!”
“Do you need something else?” Connor turned his head, glanced at Lindsy, and asked softly.
“First of all, I’m not acquainted with those people, and I didn’t have any intention of leaving with them!” Lindsy shouted back at Connor.
“You don’t need to explain so much to me. Your matters have nothing to do with me,” Connor replied calmly.
“Secondly, I asked you why you hit Jovan not because I’m angry that you hit him, but because I’m worried that you will get into trouble!” She completely ignored his words and continued shouting at him.
“Get into trouble?” Connor paused for a moment, a hint of confusion appearing in his eyes.
“It seems you really don’t know who Jovan is…” Lindsy took a deep breath and said in a low voice, “Let me tell you, Jovan is not an ordinary rich second-generation. His father is Cade Lambert is the Deputy director of the Bureau of Industry and Commerce in San Franciso. He definitely won’t let it go easily. What will you do if he seeks revenge? If the situation escalates, you could be expelled from school. What will you do then?”
“Cade?” Connor couldn’t help but smile faintly after hearing Lindsy’s words. He shook his head, unsure of what to say.
Connor hadn’t expected that Jovan would turn out to be Cade’s son, making him the elder brother of Yucca and Yarrow.
However, he could sense that this Jovan held a much higher position in the Luo family than them. Otherwise, Jovan wouldn’t be so arrogant.
Jovan was indeed born to Cade’s wife.
Connor’s guess was correct. Cade did have many illegitimate children, but only Jovan was the heir of the Lambert family. The other illegitimate children didn’t hold the same status as Jovan.
Upon hearing Lindsy’s words, Dominic and the others were dumbfounded, frozen in their tracks with expressions of disbelief on their faces.
They had never imagined that Jovan had such a prominent background, being the son of Cade.
After a moment, they finally understood why she had questioned Connor in such a manner.
She was clearly worried about him. She was concerned that the slap he gave Jovan could lead to fatal consequences.
Although Dominic and the others knew that Connor came from a wealthy family and had plenty of money, they also knew that no matter how wealthy he was, he couldn’t possibly go against someone like Cade.
The expressions on everyone’s faces turned grim.
“You saved me just now, and I’m grateful for that. But I’m also worried about you because of the slap you gave Jovan. Jovan won’t let it go easily, and he’s not someone we ordinary people can mess with!” Lindsy said with an anxious tone directed at Connor.
Upon hearing her words, he couldn’t help but smile and replied calmly, “If I dared to hit him, then I’m not afraid of his retaliation. You don’t need to worry about my matters; I can handle them myself!”
“But this whole thing started because of me. How can I not worry about you?” she asked him, furrowing her brows.
“And how does your worrying about me help now? Can you solve this problem for me?” He directly countered her question.
Lindsy froze upon hearing Connor’s response, her expression becoming awkward. She didn’t know how to answer his question.
Connor was right. Although Lindsy was genuinely worried about him, what good would her worrying do?
Lindsy came from a well-off family, and in the eyes of ordinary people, she could be considered a wealthy and beautiful woman, someone unattainable for most. But if placed in front of the Lambert family, her background was simply insignificant.
“If you can’t help me, then I’ll handle it myself,” Connor said calmly, looking at Lindsy.
“What can you do to solve it? You’re just an ordinary student. I really don’t want to involve you because of my problems!” Lindsy suddenly felt a sense of helplessness and self-blame as she spoke to Connor.
“I’ve already said it. If I dared to hit this person, then I’m not afraid of him retaliating against me!” Connor’s tone softened as he saw Lindsy feeling self-blame.
After hearing his words, she couldn’t help but raise her head and look at him, her expression helpless, not knowing what to do next.
