Chapter 21: Childhood Friends
In the mage god training hall.
Lin En was lying leisurely on the rattan chair. While on the ground a few feet away, there was a scholarly-looking man who was kneeling on one knee.
Although the man was brimming with a scholarly aura, his body looked rather weak. He was not even comparable to a female warrior.
Would Lin En really send such a man to defend the arena?
That was correct. Lin En was indeed planning on sending the man in front of him to defend the ring.
It was because this man stayed undefeated by Lin En even after ten consecutive moves.
Not to mention, Lin En was now a 4-star mage god.
“Go now, let them witness your strength.”
“Yes, Master,” The scholar said as he nodded.
Lin En waved his sleeve, and a green light enveloped the man’s body. The man quickly disappeared from the small courtyard the next second later.
Then, two warriors walked out from the void in the small courtyard.
When these two saw Lin En, they immediately attacked him.
But Lin En managed to subdue them half an hour later.
“You two should be guarding the arena as well.”
In front of the Golden Board of Heaven and Earth Tablet.
“Didn’t you say that there would be a defender? Why hasn’t he appeared yet?”
“You can’t truly think that the mage god training hall will send someone over, right?”
“You’re right, we shouldn’t take their words for it.”
“How many Factions are there? If the defenders had the guts to come, they would not be able to win more than three rounds even after taking turns to fight.”
After half an hour, besides a few pieces of mage treasures, no one could be seen on the stage. And everyone could not help but sigh.
“We don’t even know where this mage god training hall is. The host of the training hall really knows how to brag.”
“Eh? look at that.”
Someone pointed at the sky.
Everyone followed his finger and took a look, seeing that the sky was nothing but blue.
At this moment, that person said, “Why is it full of sh*t?”
Everyone roared with laughter.
Aquino and Omega frowned. They did not think that a being who could establish the Golden Board of Heaven and Earth would ever make a slip of the tongue.
However, they were somewhat curious. What kind of person would be sent to defend the arena?
“This rule states that only a 4-star powerhouse or below will be sent to defend the arena. That’d be possible if only humans are sent to defend it. However, there are even dragonkin present right now. It would be pointless to send anyone over.”
It seemed that the consequences would be none other than making a fool of themselves.
The discussions amidst the crowd grew louder and louder.
They were already starting to feel a little anxious.
As there were more than a few thousand experts present.
The only ones who could wait now were the experts consisting of the various clans.
As more time passed, they all felt as if they had been stood up.
Just as everyone was reaching their limits, a door of light appeared on the stage.
Everyone was startled at this. The first that came out of the door of light was a foot, and the rest of the guy’s body.
Then, they noticed that the person who came out was actually a scholarly-looking man.
…
Half an hour ago.
Lin En had prepared a table full of spiritual fruit, alcoholic beverages, and various dishes. He was just about to enjoy them on his own.
“Lin En! Lin En! Come out now!”
There was an urgent knock on the door, and a female voice was heard shouting from the outside.
“Why is she here?”
Lin En’s expression changed slightly, and he immediately put away the spiritual fruits.
It was not that he was stingy, but these things could not be eaten by ordinary mages or warriors.
Even the alcohol alone was enough to kill a person a few times over with just a single sip.
“I’m coming, I’m coming.”
Lin En said hurriedly as he ran to the door and opened it.
Clang…
Just as he opened the door, he saw a young girl who was about to draw her sword.
“My Little Madam, what are you trying to do? Haven’t I already opened the door?”
Lin En smiled bitterly.
The woman in front of him had a petite figure, sharp eyes, and a tall figure while holding onto a thin sword. She was Aquino’s adopted daughter, Kylie.
She was really tall, almost as tall as Lin En himself.
And even Lin En was about two meters tall.
Also, because she was a warrior, her figure looked extremely good.
Lin En obviously liked this type of figure, but what came along with this perfect figure was Kylie’s extremely hot temper.
Swoosh!
The thin sword was now pointed at Lin En’s throat.
Lin En stepped back and revealed a bitter smile. “Tell me, what have you been up to recently?”
Lin En was stunned, he really did not know what to say or answer.
“Of course I’m busy being a homebody.”
Lin En replied with a bitter smile.
“A homebody? There are so many experts on the Golden Board of Heaven and Earth outside now. And you’re telling me that you’re busy being a homebody?”
Kylie widened her eyes and looked around. The most amusing thing was that she even moved her face closer to Lin En.
“What are you doing?”
Lin En hurriedly wanted to hide, but he suddenly felt his collar tightening up. He had no clue as to when Kylie’s hand had grabbed onto him.
She sniffed him and said, “Are you hiding something?”
Lin En was shocked. This woman’s sense of smell was too sensitive.
“No, I’m just a mage that had a breakthrough recently.”
Lin En maintained his composure and loosened up Kylie’s hand.
For some reason, when their hands touched, Kylie’s face blushed imperceptibly.
Lin En was puzzled. What happened to the violent woman? Why did her face turn red?
Since the two of them grew up together, they could speak without any scruples.
“Hey!”
“Is there something wrong with you?”
Their faces were very close to each other, and they could almost feel each other’s breathing.
Kylie’s face flushed slightly. For some reason, she did not dare to look into Lin En’s eyes.
“Why—why’d you say that?”
“You…”
“You…”
Kylie was getting too nervous. The two of them were a little too close.
‘Is he going to confess his love to me? Oh my god, what should I do? Should I accept him?’
“Are you on your period? You don’t look well.”
Lin En said.
Kylie was stunned for three seconds. Suddenly, she said angrily, “Go to hell, Lin En!”
She held her long sword and chased after Lin En in the small courtyard.
After a while, the two of them went out of the door. Strictly speaking, Lin En was the one dragged out by his ear.
The two of them went straight to the arena and saw that the scholarly guy had just come out.
“Is the host behind the Golden Board of Heaven and Earth a fool? Why did he send such a weak chicken to defend the arena?”
Kylie said.
Lin En immediately coughed to cover up the awkwardness.
“Huh, what’s wrong with you?” Kylie said, “Do you need me to pound your back?”
“No—no need.”
Lin En said with a face filled with fear. Would she not pound him to death instead?
At this moment, the man in the middle of the arena began to speak.
His gaze swept across everyone outside the arena. When his gaze landed on Lin En, he paused slightly.
“I’m the defender, Tian. Under the orders of the Master of the mage god training hall, I’d like to talk about the rules next.”
“The rules of the competition are as follows…”
Under the explanation of the man who called himself ‘Tian’, everyone quickly understood the rules…
