Xia Xingchen’s heart took a dip as she instinctively looked down.
She did not expect that everyone had raised their heads towards her direction, even Bai Yeqing looked at her with a deep gaze. From where she was, she could see how the young lady pulled a confused look, and when she turned to look at the Butler beside the President, she saw him profusely wiping his cold sweat.
Xia Xingchen did not expect that she would attract so much attention for closing the window and immediately panicked. However, she quickly reverted back to normal and gave out a smile as she closed the window at a speed neither too fast nor slow.
Downstairs, Song Weiyi was very curious about the identity of the woman who suddenly appeared in the President’s Manor. Since Bai Yeqing did not mention her, naturally she did not dare to probe further. Upon entering the manor, she could not help but take a few more glances at that window.
Could it be that Mr. President was already keeping a mistress in his house?
She looked to the side and sneakily took a glance at Bai Yeqing. However, he looked as calm as water and there was not a single flaw.
………
Upstairs.
The maid did not even wait for her to ring the bell that she already came running upstairs.
“Miss Xia, you shouldn’t have appeared at that window. If Miss Song misunderstands anything, things will get worse.”
“Sorry, it was my mistake. However, quickly get me a set of maid uniforms!”
“Huh?”
“Don’t be so wishy-washy!”
Xia Xingchen hurried the maid and she did not dare to neglect any further. Hence, she quickly brought a set of maid uniforms upstairs.
Xia Xingchen swiftly changed out her clothes and into the black and white maid uniform.
“Miss Xia, what are you…”
The maid looked at how she looked and was shocked. Although she was not the President’s wife, she was still Little master’s biological mother. Who would have the guts to order her around like a maid?
“We should get rid of Miss Song’s suspicions first to prevent bad consequences,” explained Xia Xingchen while she tied her hair.
Under such circumstances, only by saying that she was a maid in the President’s Manor would it be appropriate.
The maid also did not say anything further.
On the other hand, the living room’s door was tightly closed. Leng Fei and the other men were guarding the door.
Xia Xingchen came downstairs and Leng Fei’s gaze looked past her. He froze and looked at her again before realizing that it was Xia Xingchen.
“Miss Xia, what are you…”
“Shh! Stop calling me Miss Xia.” Xia Xingchen took a look at the living room.
After a while, a maid happened to roll in with a tray of snacks and coffee. The Butler took over the tray and said to Xia Xingchen, “I’m so sorry, Miss Xia. I could only trouble you.”
Xia Xingchen understood the Butler’s words. He wanted her to let Song Weiyi know that she was just a maid in the President’s Manor. Xia Xingchen shared similar sentiments.
She took the tray and walked in with the snacks.
She had just slightly opened the door and she could hear Song Weiyi’s delicate laughter from within the room. “When we were young, you would never take a dive but now you would even purposely lose to me.”
“I didn’t expect that Miss Song would still remember things from the past.”
“Mr. President, please call me Weiyi instead.”
Bai Yeqing slightly raised his head and his gaze looked past her head. She did not wear the diamond hairpin that he gave her.
“You didn’t like my present?” asked Bai Yeqing as his thumb gently caressed the crystal chess piece in his hands.
“I like it. I really like it a lot. My mom always praises Mr. President for your good taste. But… I cannot bear to wear it. I am afraid that I might drop it and would not be able to find it again.”
Bai Yeqing gave a faint smile. “If you like it, we can buy it again if you drop it.”
Song Weiyi’s spirits were lifted and her voice even became sweeter. “It’s not the same. That was the first present Mr. President gave to me. It has a special meaning.”
Xia Xingchen stood at the door and listened to their conversation. She suddenly felt that her appearance would be too unnecessary.
Song Weiyi’s words continuously expressed her adoration and admiration for Bai Yeqing. Bai Yeqing, on the other hand, was especially gentle to her which was different from his usual cold demeanor.
Thinking until here, Xia Xingchen knocked her head a few times while feeling annoyed.
What kind of nonsense was she thinking? Why should she concern herself with the President and his future wife’s relationship? She was just a normal citizen. Did she even have a chance?
She shook her head and tried to clear her head from those thoughts before walking in with the snacks.
They were playing chess with pieces made out of crystal and a board made out of jade. Both of them took opposing sides. Xia Xingchen did not want to interrupt, only silently placing the snacks aside.
“Hey! Wait!” When she was about to turn around and leave, Song Weiyi stopped her. “Aren’t you the girl from upstairs?”
Bai Yeqing looked up and saw that it was her. His eyes darkened.
She was wearing the maid uniform and had her head lowered, looking very obedient. It was a rare sight.
“Yes, Miss Song. Since the Butler said that it was going to rain, I went upstairs to close the window,” explained Xia Xingchen.
“You… are a maid here?” Song Weiyi sized her up with her eyes filled with suspicion.
“Yes.”
“In that case, please remain and help me remove the crab shell.” Song Weiyi took a look at the King crab served just now. Song Weiyi loved to eat crabs and the kitchen had got it all ready and prepared.
Eh?
Xia Xingchen froze. Did she really take her for a maid?
She took a glance at Song Weiyi and she was unwilling to do it.
However, she changed her way of thinking. After all, she was still at the President’s Manor and she still wanted to accompany Dabai for a while. If she made Song Weiyi angry and got chased out, that would not be good.
She should just remove the crab shell then!
She took the tools and went to a corner to remove the crab shell. With the tools, it was quite easy to remove the shell.
However, she did not expect that Song Weiyi would suddenly turn around and say, “Remove the crab shell by hand and stop using the tools. The noises are affecting my chess game with the President.”
Eh? Use her hands?
What the? It was such a big crab. If she were to use her hands, wouldn’t that be purposely making things difficult for her?
Xia Xingchen unhappily complained in her heart before glancing at the President. She gritted her teeth and decided to go along with it. It was much better than getting chased out.
She removed it until she started sweating. It took a lot of effort before she managed to get a small plate of crab meat.
As she was trying to remove a crab leg, a sharp shell pierced into her finger.
“Ah…”
She silently screamed in pain and blood immediately seeped through the wound.
On the other side, Bai Yeqing froze and coldly furrowed his eyebrows. His gaze was already shifted to her while he asked in a deep voice, “What’s wrong?”
“Ah, nothing, nothing…” Xia Xingchen shook her head and hid her hand behind her back. She had already lowered the volume of her voice as though she was just sighing.
She did not expect that he would have actually heard it.
However, his eyebrows were furrowed so tightly, was he blaming her for interrupting them?
Song Weiyi looked at the President first before she turned to look at her, and all this while, she remained expressionless. However, the grip on the chess piece became tighter.
Women were always so sensitive.
“Are you really okay?” asked Song Weiyi.
“Hmm, I am okay.”
“Continue on then. Mr. President, let’s continue too.” When Song Weiyi spoke to Bai Yeqing, her voice turned much sweeter.
Xia Xingchen sneakily took a glance at Bai Yeqing. His gaze was very deep and the line on his forehead got thicker. He seemed to be very unhappy.
It seemed that her mistake made him angry! But, he cannot blame her, right? Other than Dabai, she would not remove crab shells for any random stranger! If it was not because she wanted to spend more time with Dabai, she would not have cared about Song Weiyi.
Since her finger was in pain, it was more difficult to remove the crab shell.
Bai Yeqing took a quick look and he saw her troubled and vengeful face.
His eyes darkened and he put down the chess piece in his hand before walking towards Xia Xingchen.
Xia Xingchen who was then focusing on her crab suddenly felt a dark shadow dawning upon her. She raised her head and saw Bai Yeqing’s tall figure standing in front of her—just like a mighty big mountain.
“Let me see your hand.”
