Jiang Beihan cast an offhand glance at the group of visitors before resting his gaze for a few seconds on Song Wenxin. Then, he turned to his employee and asked expressionlessly, “Who are these people?”
“They are students from A-University, on a tour of our headquarters.”
“Tour?” Jiang Beihan asked, narrowing his eyes and shooting a glance at
Song Wenxin, who was standing right at the back of the group. Suddenly, he said to the people beside him, “Perfect. I want to visit the creative department. Let them join us, then!”
That said, he strode off quickly, followed by the group of people, forming a grandiose sight.
At this stage, everyone in the group was even more excited.
“This is really your lucky day, to be able to tour the creative department together with our boss!” the female employee remarked. With a twinge of envy, she shared that, in her many years with the company, she had only met the boss a few times.
Song Wenxin was, in fact, surprised that Jiang Beihan would, out of the blue, allow them to join him on the tour as a learning experience.
It appeared that he was not too bad a guy after all…
…
Song Wenxin’s group followed at a short distance behind Jiang Beihan as they headed toward the creative department.
Once they got to the creative department, Jiang Beihan instructed his employees to take the A-University students on the tour but singled out Song Wenxin, pointing at her.
“You stay here and get me a cup of coffee!” he ordered as he looked at her, his expressionless face tinged with mockery.
Since she had wanted to pretend not to know him, he would play her game.
Song Wenxin’s heart stopped, her face suddenly transformed by a look of disappointment.
She had been over the moon when she found out that they were going on a tour of the creative department, hoping to be able to pick up some tips and enhance her learning. However, she had not expected to be held back by him and ordered to fetch him some water.
1Who was he to order her around, when she was not even an employee of his?!
“Boss, let me do it!” offered one of Jiang Beihan’s employees, who had been in attendance on the side.
Jiang Beihan stared at her coldly, after which she immediately retracted the offer and stood silently to one side.
“Can I not go…?” Song Wenxin pleaded softly, suppressing her anger with gritted teeth, hoping that he would rescind the order on account of her being his legally married wife, in name only.
“I’m thirsty,” Jiang Beihan insisted, after scrutinizing her briefly.
“Erm… Miss. The office pantry is over there. Thank you for your help!” said one of the female employees as she thoughtfully pointed Song Wenxin in the direction of the pantry with an envious look on her face, as though the opportunity to make a drink for Jiang Beihan was a most honorable and revered task.
Fuming silently, Song Wenxin wanted to take back her earlier compliment of Jiang Beihan being a good guy!
He was just another unscrupulous businessman, who refused to use any of his legally hired employees, but instead chose to exploit someone like her for free service!
He had gone too far!
“Thank you, Song Wenxin. We’ll go ahead first. Remember to come to look us up when you are done and call me if you need to!” her lecturer said gently before leading her group of students away.
Song Wenxin turned to glare unhappily at Jiang Beihan before turning around and storming off to the pantry to carry out her order.
Although she was extremely unwilling to make coffee for Jiang Beihan, she knew that, under the circumstances, she had no choice but to keep her head low and bear with it.
…
Once in the pantry, Song Wenxin proceeded to carry out her order and pour coffee into a disposable cup. She was about to leave the pantry with it when she noticed, on the table in the pantry, an assortment of sugar, including cane sugar, honey, glucose syrup, rock sugar, and sugar cubes.
She stopped suddenly, as though she had thought of something, and raised her hand to cover her mouth, hiding a smile that had formed.
