“Indeed, nothing to rave about,” he agreed, nodding with his chin.
At his words, Song Wenxin immediately agreed with him, nodding her head fervently.
Who would have thought that a body that was nothing to rave about would turn out to be an advantage?!
“And that is why you should let me go, please!” she pleaded, looking at him with sorrowful eyes, begging for mercy.
Jiang Beihan pursed his lips and looked at her through those charming eyes without saying a word.
Yet, it was that very look of his that had left Song Wenxin feeling guilty…
“Let’s do this. Since I have been set up by that son-of-a-b*tch Shen Jiayu, I will seek him out, take my revenge on him, and then come back here. What do you think?” She laid out her plan carefully, looking at him with bated breath, worried that he would reject it.
“And would you still come back here?” Jiang Beihan glared at her with disbelief.
Surely she would not walk back into the lion’s den voluntarily?
“Of course, I swear! If I don’t come back, the heavens will punish me by having my chest flattened!” She raised her hand to make the pledge with a wince, hiding her unwillingness deep in her heart!
Listening to her pledge, Jiang Beihan could not resist stealing a glance at that part of her body before squinting.
Wow, that was quite a cruel pledge!
“All right, scram!” he said as he turned nimbly and swung himself off the bed.
So, he was being nice and letting her go, just like that.
“Bro, thank you!” Secretly elated that he had agreed to her suggestion, Song Wenxin quickly threw off the quilt and jumped out of the bed.
“Hold on!” Just as she was about to escape from him as quickly as possible, he suddenly spoke up again.
Song Wenxin’s heart sank, hoping that he was not about to rescind his decision.
Fortunately, all he did was hand her a business card.
It was different from the run-of-the-mill business card, in that it was not made of paper, was gold in color, and felt a bit hard.
“Come and see me if you ever need anything,” he said. She was left wondering why he had made such a statement.
Nonetheless, she reached out and accepted the business card in silence, not asking any questions. Without looking back, she left the bedroom at rapid speed, running as fast as she could toward the stairs.
…
Jiang Beihan chuckled. Was this someone who had claimed that she was not well? She had scuttled off faster than a rabbit!
Shortly after, he rose from the bed and took big strides to the bedroom window–a floor-to-ceiling window.
Looking down, he could see the shadow of a woman walking hurriedly away.
1Lips pursed, he walked back to the bed and pulled out the drawer of the nightstand to retrieve a small, gold box.
He opened it to reveal a silver chain and pendant nestling in the box.
Removing the necklace from the box, he placed it in his palm.
The handcrafted pendant was designed simply, comprising the three characters of a name, manually crafted.
He looked down at the necklace and opened his mouth to read out the three characters, softly.
“Song Wenxin…”
He closed his huge hand slowly into a fist, enclosing the necklace, like a priceless treasure, in the palm of his hand.
In the next instant, a shadow of a smile appeared to flash across his emotionless face.
It had been three years. He had planned to look her up soon, but she had instead materialized on his doorstep.
Wow, how very interesting.

Running out of the villa, Song Wenxin did not dare look back but just kept pushing forward at the fastest speed that she had ever run. She just kept running as though her life depended on it, surprising even herself at how fast she could run.
It was only when she knew that she was safely outside the zone of the villas that she breathed a sigh of relief. By then, she was so exhausted that she flopped onto the ground, gasping continuously for air.
She turned around to confirm that the villa was no longer in sight before she could truly relax.
