Chapter 31: Locust Plague
Wasn’t that Song Yan?!
Qiu Tong widened her eyes in shock, but what the news reported shocked her even more.
The man she had saved was the president of this country?!
When she transmigrated here, she did not have any memories of the former owner of the body at all. She only had a vague understanding of this world.
Qiu Tong logged on to the internet and entered the word “President.” Immediately, a large amount of information and favorable commentaries on the president popped up on the front page. The person in the photo was Song Yan.
However, the strange thing was that the name of the president on the internet was clearly Jin Yang.
Then who was Song Yan?
Qiu Tong entered Song Yan’s name and found that they were actually half-brothers.
She narrowed her eyes and compared the two photos. She realized that Song Yan and Jinyang were very similar. She continued to look through the information, but the description of the president’s civil conflict was extremely complicated and obscure. It took a lot of effort before she managed to sort out the connections.
Although Song Yan and Jin Yang were brothers, the two of them were at odds with each other in every aspect, be it political standing, world view, personality, methods and so on.
Could the previous two assassinations be arranged by Jin Yang to deal with Song Yan?
Otherwise, who would dare to assassinate the president’s brother?!
Qiu Tong vaguely felt that she had witnessed some unspeakable secret. She immediately closed all the webpages and forced herself to forget all her surmisations.
Her only thought at the moment was to raise the three brats safely and make sure they didn’t go astray. These political struggles had nothing to do with her, and it wasn’t as if she, a commoner, could interfere at will.
After purchasing and decorating the house, Qiu Tong still had more than $10,000 in cash.
However, the theory of the time value of money meant that cash in hand would only depreciate over time. Anyway, there would come the day when everything would be spent.
She had to think of a way to maximize the funds at hand. Only then would she be able to continuously create new wealth!
Qiu Tong narrowed her eyes as a thought flashed through her mind.
She remembered that in the original timeline, there would be a major locust plague happening this year, causing the production of food to decrease sharply and the demand to increase substantially, creating a food shortage.
If she took this opportunity to stock up on some food and sell it later, wouldn’t she earn a lot?!
Qiu Tong’s eyes lit up. After finding the right business opportunity, she immediately brought the three children to the food market.
The three children were already immune to her sudden actions now. Although they did not understand why Qiu Tong suddenly wanted to stock up on food in such large quantities, she was the one earning the money, so they had no reason to question her.
Qiu Xingqiao yawned lazily as he watched Qiu Tong haggle with others.
“Is she possessed by a ghost again? Can she finish so much food?”
Qiu Xingqiao suddenly halted. He thought of Qiu Tong’s usual eating habits and hesitated.
Actually, she might really be able to finish everything…
Qiu Xingyuan held onto Qiu Xingyu and did not speak. He was also clutching a chemistry book.
Qiu Xingqiao shifted his gaze away uninterestedly. Suddenly, he noticed a large group of people gathered not far away. He immediately rushed over to watch the commotion in excitement.
He had just taken a step when he collided with a little girl.
“Ah!”
Her terrified cries were filled with pain and dismay. Ignoring the wound on her knee, the little girl desperately tried to pick up the grains scattered on the ground with her skinny hands. “My grains, my grains!”
Large drops of tears fell onto the ground. Qiu Xingqiao was a little embarrassed. He squatted down and apologized softly, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.”
The other party did not seem to have heard her. She just continued to pick up her grains from the ground in a frenzy. Seeing that some grains had landed in the middle of the road, she rushed over without thinking.
“Be careful!”
Qiu Xingqiao’s pupils constricted violently as he instantly charged forward to push her out of harm’s way. They tumbled off the road together.
A large truck whizzed past them. The draft created by the passing vehicle made them break out in cold sweat.
“Qiu Xingqiao!”
Qiu Tong, who had noticed the commotion, was scared out of her wits. She put everything down and immediately rushed over. “Are you alright?”
Qiu Xingqiao shook his head silently. He immediately looked at the little girl who was in a frightened daze and said angrily, “How could you charge around like that? It’s so dangerous!”
But the little girl turned a deaf ear to Qiu Xingqiao’s reprimand. She stared straight at the grains that had been crushed by the truck. Her eyes turned red as she squatted on the ground and wailed incessantly.
Qiu Xingqiao was shocked by her crying and instinctively looked to Qiu Tong for help. “I didn’t bully her!”
Qiu Tong patted Qiu Xingqiao’s head comfortingly. She squatted down and asked the little girl in a gentle tone, “What’s wrong? If you have any problems, you can tell us. We can help you.”
