Chapter 60
Elysia screamed as she felt a burning pain in her body.
To be exact, the heart.
No, she was only conscious and her body was completely immobile, so she could say she was screaming silently. Elysia could feel a large hand resting a wet towel on her forehead and wiping all over her body.
The owner of the moving hand that she seemed familiar with was probably Cassian.
Before she lost her consciousness, she thought about what it would be like if he wasn’t by her side, and her heart overflowed like a flood.
As if that word became a starting word, what will it be if things will go like this?
Even though it was her first experience, she knew what was going on with her body. A series of processes that were engraved deep into the soul as if the opponent were imprinted on the body.
But, she had never heard of the process being so painful—even until she lost consciousness.
When she heard the words of the vampires around her, it was such a daunting and moving moment, though it was so different from what she had heard. Her heart, which should have stopped when she became a vampire, was still beating, which seemed to be the problem, too.
Elysia’s condition was even more puzzling because she saw the human heart stop in the process of becoming a vampire.
Very rarely, there were people who succeeded in turning humans into vampires.
The human heart stopped and turned into an intact vampire body.
In her case, if there was a difference, would it be that someone didn’t intentionally turn her into a vampire?
Anyway, she turned from a human to a vampire, and her heart raced. The reason she felt like this was that her body couldn’t stand the process of being imprinted.
And as she continued these thoughts, a question arose.
What will happen if the heart stops…?
A direct cut to the heart caused it to stop, or a near-death wound that causes the heart to stop.
Will her heart still recover? If it stopped without recovering, would she just stay alive because she was a vampire?
It’s a question she should have had right away, but Elysia hasn’t had to worry about it until now.
Cassian’s voice was heard as he continued his troubles that could not be answered unless he experienced it himself.
“…But, I don’t think I can let you go.”
Cassian was reversing what he said to her every day.
One day he said he would let her go as long as she woke up, and the next day he said he couldn’t do it like he just said.
It wasn’t that she didn’t understand his heart, so she felt sorry for him, but now, about three weeks later, her mind has changed a bit. She had such a deep heart for him that this happened, and she was upset as he was contemplating whether or not to break up with her.
As Cassian doesn’t know the cause of her collapse, it’s natural for him to do that, though now, it’s a situation where she can’t let go of him herself.
It became like this without even realizing that her feelings for him had deepened enough to be imprinted.
She wondered what would happen if Cassian couldn’t handle her and let her go.
Her heart sank when she realized that he seemed to be weeping as he continued these thoughts alone. Elysia was terrified that she might die from this.
‘If the heart stops, maybe the body dies…?’
She was worried that she might have a mental illness because she was thinking too much because she was conscious.
But even now, the stream of consciousness doesn’t seem to be very normal.
“…I love you.”
Cassian’s voice whispered in her ear, and something came up. She thought she could answer that question now, though her body didn’t listen.
A drop of water ran down her face. It looked like he was crying again.
How well a man who never seemed to shed tears can cry…
In the midst of this, when she thought of wanting to see his crying face once, she thought that it was not normal for her.
***
Her silver eyelashes trembled, and her red eyes slowly appeared.
Elysia blinked her eyes a couple of times.
Finally, her body woke up.
The sentence itself that her body woke up was a bit strange, although seeing the strength in her fingertips, it seemed as if her body was moving according to her will.
The first face that came to mind was, of course, Cassian.
She felt his soft hair wrapped around her fingertips.
“Ca, kehpp—Cassi…”
The voice didn’t come out well.
It seemed that it was because she wasn’t in a good physical condition as she hadn’t sucked blood since Ryan’s blood shortly after she collapsed. It couldn’t have been better to just lie down without eating.
At the same time, as she realized her body, she felt the senses all over her body stand upright.
Should she bite the nape as soon as she wakes up?
“…Elysia?”
As soon as he called her name, the figure of him standing up came into view.
It looked as if he had fallen asleep with his face buried in her hands next to the bed and hadn’t woken up yet.
Whether it was unbelievable that she had her eyes open or he just woke up from sleep, he just stared at her with a blank expression on his face.
Then he sighed as he wiped his face with his hands.
“Am I even dreaming now?”
“…No.”
She wanted to spit out a long sentence saying it wasn’t a dream, but her throat hurt.
Even though Elysia’s voice was faint, he couldn’t miss it. He wanted to open his eyes wide, but the corners of his eyes turned red in an instant. It wasn’t like that, but his watery eyes were showing his feelings instead.
Elysia was squeezing the vampire lust that filled her chin with all her might.
She couldn’t say she wanted to eat at the moment full of emotions. So, she struggled to divert her thoughts the other way.
She wondered if anything had changed after being imprinted.
As she blinked slowly, she could tell the difference one by one. Even with Elysia’s eyes closed, she could clearly sense his presence. It was not just a feeling of the presence, though it was a feeling of being able to recognize the presence of his body even without a sound because of the body scent.
There, he felt a little different, too.
The degree to which the body scent coming from the back of his neck and the body scent coming from around his wrist was subtly different.
At this point, she thought that it was not because she had deepened her heart, but rather, because she was feeling her prey better.
From what she had heard from other people, they usually say that after deepening the mind, the body of the other person changes to be really sweet. The change was equally applied to their own kind.
It was said that bloodsucking between their own kind was not good because it was not very satisfying and had no taste. So, in her case, it was sweet from the beginning, so it was a little different, but the result seemed to be the same, anyway.
“…Ha…Really.”
Cassian bowed his head and buried her face in his shoulder.
He barely moved her weak body and held his hand as if covering her head.
She wanted to hug his shoulder, though it was difficult because she had no strength in her body.
“Well…I’m so…rry…”
Cassian raised his head and gazed at her.
“I’m…really…hungry… I don’t have any energy—”
In fact, he even seemed to have noticed, although the keywords were omitted in the middle. As if thinking about something, Cassian nodded his head and lifted her up with a careful hand.
“I didn’t think of that. I don’t know how much blood you need to drink… I’m sorry.”
Elysia shook her head.
Cassian and Elysia knew that they couldn’t drink Ryan’s blood properly while lying unconscious, anyway.
He climbed into the bed and sat next to Elysia, placing her on his lap. Then, with a hasty hand, she unbuttoned his shirt.
Elysia’s eyes, looking at him, were watery.
“Hmm…”
“….? Are you not hungry? Why are you crying? Huh?”
A cracked voice came out of Elysia’s lips.
“Sorry… I’m sorry.”
“Suddenly, what? I think my heart will fall because you are crying and saying you’re sorry like this.”
Cassian forcedly raised the corners of his lips and smiled.
As more and more tears flowed down Elysia’s face, he brought her head closer and said.
“What did I do wrong? I don’t know what to do because you are crying.”
“That’s—heuk.”
There were a lot of things she wanted to say, but it seemed to be mixed with crying.
Cassian hurriedly put a kiss on Elysia’s lips and stopped her from speaking.
“I see. Whatever you want to say… I’ll hear it later, later. Now…I don’t think I can listen to it now. Hmm?”
Carefully, he bit her lower lip, trying to figure out what was going to come out of Elysia’s mouth.
Once again, she exhaled a shriveled breath at the overwhelming emotions and opened her mouth.
“I love you.”
“Ah….”
Cassian slowly blinked his eyes and smiled in dismay. It was obvious that he wondered if he had heard correctly what he had just heard.
Moments later, he raised his eyebrows and said with a desperate look on his face.
“Could yo—could you say it again. I heard it wrong…”
“I love you.”
Cassian hugged Elysia tightly.
Elysia buried her head in his shoulder and rubbed her face.
“I love you.”
Cassian constantly whispered in her ear that he loved her.
In the meantime, Elysia was pouring out all at once of what she had been pushing and putting up with.
***
Elysia was gazing at Cassian, who fell asleep in her arms.
When she looked out the window, she saw that the day was getting brighter. It seemed that she had woken up in the evening, so it had been a while since Cassian had fallen asleep.
As soon as he saw her condition recover a little after she had sucked his blood, he fell asleep faintly.
He hadn’t slept properly for almost a month, so that was enough.
After a couple of hours of falling asleep, Cassian woke up immediately, even if she moved a little, so she was holding him still, staying still. Even when he opened his eyes halfway through, he said it was a dream, as if he couldn’t believe the situation, so she was careful not to wake up as much as possible.
It hurt her heart to see those eyes.
Even when Cassian was sleeping, the hand that wrapped around her waist had strength in it, and he called out her name in a cold sweat, perhaps even having a nightmare.
Even if they were possessed by each other, it seemed to be a firm possession.
She must take responsibility for making that strong man like this.
When Elysia thought of the time he left her side later… it felt like a corner of her heart was being ripped out. She could feel Cassian rubbing his face and stuck more closely.
‘Huh… I think he’s awake?’
Because she’s never had this happen in her sleep all night.
When she saw the hand gently sweeping her back, it seemed that he had woken up.
“If you wake up, don’t you want to see my face first? I can’t believe you just wanted my body…”
“Kiss me.”
Cassian was looking at her with a drowsy face, half awake.
Seeing that, Elysia muttered a little.
“Ah… Another beautiful—No, a handsome man.”
“You like my body more than me, don’t you?”
“Well. I can’t deny it.”
Hearing that, he smiled low and kissed her lips.
The corners of Elysia’s mouth went up at the sound of the kissing.
