Chapter 24: New Skill, New Style
The giant cat widened its green eyes again while two tails whipped toward Austin like a dragon.
Before the tail even reached him, a strong wind swept in all directions. It was even more powerful than the iron whip of a magister.
Austin leaped into the air and dodged the first tail.
When the second tail swept over, Austin used his absolute control over his body to adjust his posture and dodge again.
As for the bricks, stone pillars, and chimneys on the roof, they were not so lucky.
All of them were smashed into pieces by the Nekomata’s tail.
There was no time for the tail to strike again as Austin had already clenched his fist and charged.
“Meow!”
The fur on the cat’s body stood on end. Sensing a strong sense of danger, it immediately swung its huge paw towards Austin.
“Ha!”
Austin’s eyes widened as he swung his thick arm towards the Nekomata’s paw.
The fist and paws clashed, and a powerful collision erupted into a vast expanse of white energy waves.
Bang!
The entire concrete roof caved in.
Immediately after, the windows of every house around the house shattered almost simultaneously.
Their collision caused the entire area to tremble.
The roof collapsed, and Austin crashed through it into the house.
After using the 100 times of strength, Austin’s right arm broke into pieces.
However, his super self-healing ability rapidly healed his right arm.
With cells that could evolve automatically, Austin would only become stronger the more he fought.
As for the Nekomata…
After taking a punch from Austin, a hole appeared in the cat’s claw.
The punch sent its massive body flying into the sky.
“Heh, I won.”
Austin, who laid in the ruins of the house, looked like he was about to fall apart.
He raised his left hand, aimed at the night sky above him, and clenched his fist.
“Detonate!”
Instantly, all the burning flames on the roof controlled by Austin shot towards Nekomata.
After the cat became enveloped by the raging fire, Austin immediately controlled the air and injected rich oxygen into it, directly detonating the giant fireball.
Boom!
A large explosion erupted to light up the night sky.
The flames scattered like fireworks and gradually dissipated.
The burnt Nekomata fell from the sky and landed on the ground.
“This high-level beast is my kill.”
Austin dragged his aching body to find the cat and pressed his palm on it.
After a while, the system notification sounded:
“Ding! The host has come into contact with a high-level vicious beast, Nekomata. Cell evolution. Speed increased. Agility increased. Strength increased. Acquired ability increased greatly. Hair increased.”
“Hair increase…”
Austin froze.
He remembered an anime about a ninja village before the apocalypse.
There was a white-haired legendary ninja who could use his hair to execute a series of ninjutsu.
With the previous abilities from Exploding Arrow Porcupine and Nekomata’s hair growth, can I execute some of the moves of that white-haired ninja?
Austin immediately gave it a try.
His hair grew crazily, then hardened like sharp needles before finally shooting out.
Tatatata…
Needle-like hair pierced onto the ground, raising a cloud of dust.
If I can use this move well enough, it should have an unexpected effect.
Austin thought as he searched for the tracker in the Nekomata’s body.
“Mm?”
“Why isn’t there…?”
Austin froze.
“Wait!
Austin thought of something and slowly widened his eyes.
“The cat is indeed a high-level beast, but it doesn’t have any tracking devices that the royal family injected into it.”
“In other words, it is not the injured high-level vicious beast!”
To put it another way—Austin had single-handedly killed a healthy high-level beast!
Austin had no idea how the Nekomata managed to sneak into the heavily guarded town.
For the time being, it was not something Austin should be thinking about at the moment.
“Nevermind. It’s a little wasted. I’d better go back and check on Catherine. I hope she’s okay.”
Austin rubbed his nose gloomily.
As for Catherine’s safety, Austin was not too worried.
As long as she did not encounter the injured high-level beast or other mid-level beasts, Catherine should not be in any danger.
When she returned to her room, Catherine waited anxiously.
Seeing Austin return, Catherine immediately went up to him and grabbed his arm nervously. She asked worriedly, “Austin, are you alright?”
“I’m fine, I’m fine. You’re hurting me.”
Austin grinned as he took a deep breath.
His injuries from fighting with the Nekomata had not fully recovered yet.
With Catherine squeezing, it would naturally hurt.
However, Austin was more of faking it.
He could not help but smile when he saw how flustered his sister was.
“Brother… what should we do?”
“There’s no medicine here. We’ll go to the pharmacy in town and see if we can find some bandages and medicine for your injuries.”
Catherine was concerned.
“It’s been decades. How could there be bandages or medicine left? They would have expired even if there is any.”
“Don’t worry. It’s nothing serious.”
Austin scratched Catherine’s nose.
“Really?”
Catherine studied Austin’s injury suspiciously.
She wished she could rip off all of Austin’s clothes and examine them properly to see if he was lying, but Catherine would not dare.
“Yes, of course. I’ll lie to anyone but my sister.
“Alright, it’s still early. Go get some sleep.”
“No, you’re the one sleeping!”
Catherine insisted for Austin to sleep while she would take over as the sentry for the night.
Austin could not change her mind and had no choice but to sleep.
Meanwhile…
At the edge of the Vicious Beast Town, one magic barrier had a huge hole torn open!
From time to time, dazzling sparks would shoot out from the gap of the magic barrier, making hissing sounds…
