Chapter 305: Manliness

Xiang Wan had never met Brother Steel before.
However, Bai Muchuan and his team had met Brother Steel.
Upon hearing that, Tang Yuanchu was the first to express his opinion.
“Brother Steel? He’s just a moron! Besides having a short temper, he has nothing. Honestly, I believe he himself has also lost his way in this forest…”
Xiang Wan frowned in contemplation and took a glance at him. “But the granny from his village back then said Brother Steel had entered this forest before and managed to come out safe and well… He’s the only one who managed to do that.”
She went on to tell them about the myth of Vulture’s Mouth.
“Gosh!” Tang Yuanchu remarked with a sigh, “No wonder it’s such a jinxed forest!”
Bai Muchuan deliberated over this for a while. “There are still a lot of unknown things… anything is possible.”
Everybody nodded their heads in agreement.
Tang Yuanchu removed the hat on his head and patted it. “Only after we entered this place did I realize that anything that is supposed to be impossible might become possible in here!”
Hearing his mumbles, Xiang Wan got reminded of the pictures Yu Bo uploaded on the Internet.
There was a picture of Tang Yuanchu’s police officer badge.
She turned and looked at Tang Yuanchu. “Are you hurt anywhere?”
Tang Yuanchu gave a surprised look and laughed cheekily. “It’s just a small injury. Nothing to worry about.”
He felt that it was an honor to have that wound, so he was not worried.
However, when Xiang Wan looked at Tang Yuanchu’s smiling face and then at Bai Muchuan, she couldn’t help recalling something.
Apparently, they seemed ignorant of what happened after they entered Vulture’s Mouth.
Half a second later, Xiang Wan asked somewhat hesitantly, “While you’re here all this while, did anyone of you see Xie Wanwan? I was told that the Dark Clan has kidnapped her.”
“… Kidnapped?”
Tang Yuanchu was the first one to speak with a gasp.
“How is that possible? Isn’t she in Nanmu for filming?”
True enough, they had no clue.
Xiang Wan thought she should not reveal the truth on why Xie Wanwan came to Vulture’s Mouth, at least, not at the moment.
For she could clearly see Tang Yuanchu’s feelings for Xie Wanwan…
Wouldn’t it be a blow to him if he knew that Bai Muchuan was the reason why Xie Wanwan came to Vulture’s Mouth?
“It might have been a coincidence,” Xiang Wan replied with much consideration. “Meng Chi had already prepared the ransom of 50 million yuan but was unable to contact the kidnappers when he arrived at Brother Steel’s villa.”
“…”
Tang Yuanchu’s eyes were filled with burning anger.
“Of course they’re uncontactable. The kidnappers are all inside this horrible place! But, we didn’t see her at all—”
“What ’bout Fang Yuanyuan?” Xiang Wan asked again, “There’s also another person, one of my moderators… Both of them are uncontactable as well.”
The mention of Fang Yuanyuan made Xiang Wan in a poor mood.
“That girl came all the way from Jin City to Xi City and went missing instead… I’m unable to get out of here and unable to know if the Dark Clan kidnapped her as well…”
As they exchanged information with each other, all of them fell into silence.
This was so messed up!
Their hands were already full just with the Dark Clan alone.
As for the murderer of the 121 case, it seemed to be an even more frightening existence.
In this battle, were they up against the Dark Clan or… someone was trying to be the one who would reap the advantages when they fight?
Starting from Bai Muchuan and Xiang Wan, since the start of the incident till now, how many people had been involved?
Their physical body was trapped in the mysterious forest while their minds were trapped in the whirlpool of all these incidents… At the moment, they were unable to step out of it.
They were unable to find out the truth.
“No matter what, we have to get out of here first!”
Bai Muchuan took a glance at the ill teammates and at Xiang Wan’s injured leg.
“If we drag this on, I’m worried that something bad might happen.”
…
Afraid.
Who was not afraid?
They were just human. Everybody’s heart was heavy in a situation like this.
However, Bai Muchuan was here.
Somehow, everybody’s spirit was lifted with his presence.
“Captain Bai, we’ll listen to your command. Just tell us what to do!”
“Yes! With you here, we have nothing to fear!”
…
Great responsibilities would be accompanied by great stress!
Under everyone’s expectant and warm gazes, Bai Muchuan looked at the drawing on the floor and picked up the wooden stick again…
…
Within five minutes, Quan Shaoteng had returned with his men.
He actually didn’t leave them for long.
Yet they had a close brush with death within these 10 minutes he was away.
Seeing Bai Muchuan once again, he was surprised and elated. However, a tinge of helplessness and guilt accompanied his joy.
This was because Xiang Wan was hurt!
This woman was someone Bai Muchuan had told him repeatedly to protect.
As Quan Shaoteng deliberated over that, he took a look at Bai Muchuan’s grim expression and did not even bother wiping off the perspiration that had formed on his forehead. “Little Bai…”
“Sit down and talk!” Bai Muchuan glanced at him. “Update me about the situation.”
He interrupted the apology Quan Shaoteng wanted to say.
Both of them knew each other for so many years. They knew each other so well that the unspoken understanding need not be said in words.
He understood Quan Shaoteng just as Quan Shaoteng understood him.
Seeing that, Quan Shaoteng swallowed his words of apology and sat right next to Bai Muchuan.
Among this group of people, only Quan Shaoteng and Bai Muchuan had experience dealing with such an environment as they had gone through all kinds of weird and cruel environments before. Thus, they were more composed than the rest of the people there. In turn, the responsibilities on their shoulders were naturally heavier as well.
Both of them discussed and agreed that the safety of everyone was more important.
The number of people ill or injured had increased, it would only create more problems if the situation dragged on.
“The most important thing now is to find the exit!”
“Yes! We can always come back for those Dark Clan members once we found the exit!”
“Mm.” Bai Muchuan nodded his head.
“Little Bai, I have a suggestion!” Quan Shaoteng said seriously, “Let’s contact our superiors and request for helicopter support. Let them pick up the ill ones first. We can stay back here to continue our mission…”
It sounded like a good plan.
However, Bai Muchuan gave him a glare instead.
“Let’s not talk about the possible things that might happen when the helicopter flies into the area of magnetic disruption in Vulture’s Mouth. Let me ask you a question, are you able to make contact with them from here?”
“…”
Nope.
Just what kind of place is this!?
“That bleeping b*stard!” Quan Shaoteng cussed, “When this Brother Steel lands in my hands, I’ll make sure he gets hell from me!”
“…”
Bai Muchuan got up slowly after rolling his eyes at Quan Shaoteng.
“Everyone, let’s take a rest now. When Tu Liang and Salimu returns, we’ll proceed with our next plan.”
He had ordered Salimu and Tu Liang to tail Brother Steel and his men.
It had been a while and they were not back yet.
Bai Muchuan’s looked at the dense forest before he suddenly turned his head toward Cheng Zheng.
“Come over here.”
Cheng Zheng looked at him. “What’s up?”
“Look at this.” Bai Muchuan frowned as he patted on his arm. “I got shot earlier,” he said casually.
“…”
This was shocking.
Everyone looked at him as though he was an idiot.
Tang Yuanchu asked in a straightforward manner, “Boss! This is not a joke!”
Bai Muchuan turned toward him. His face was as indifferent as ever. “Do you think I’m joking?”
“…”
What the!? He really got shot in the arm?
When did this happen?
Tang Yuanchu gave it a thought and gasped. “Did you hurt your brain or something?”
Maybe in the beginning, he had wanted them to treat Xiang Wan’s wound first. That was totally fine. However, later on, he could still talk about going around in circles—optical illusion, and even joked with everyone. He also discussed the case and plans with Quan Shaoteng. He did not utter a single word about his injury at all…
If his brain did not get hurt, then what was this?
Bai Muchuan ignored Tang Yuanchu and sat back facing Xiang Wan by the fire pit.
“Come!”
…
His back was sturdy, straight, and cold at the same time.
Somehow, it gave people a feeling of a person who had a steel-like spirit, tougher than a stone.
Under the bright light rays coming from the fire pit, everyone now noticed a black spot on his arm. Besides the dirt he got while he was in the forest battling or tailing Brother Steel and his lackeys, there was a patch of dried mud with blood mixed within. Since his shirt was dark-colored and wet from the rain earlier as well as his perspiration, nobody noticed that he was hurt…
