Chapter 12: A Lazy Day

Feng Lanchu’s body clock woke her up punctually at six in the morning every day.
That morning, she saw a very handsome man right next to her the moment she opened her eyes. His black hair covered his eyes slightly, and his deep-set eyes were closed. His soft pink lips were slightly pouty. He looked handsome and adorable.
Even though she did not care much about one’s outward appearance, she was still dazzled by him, much less someone who cared out how another person looked.
She had to complain once again about how biased the creator was. Feng Lanchu reached out, wanting to touch that handsome face. However, she found that he was holding on to her wrist tightly.
She did not know what this odd habit Jiang Anzhi had was. He always liked to hold her wrist when he slept, and he always held it really tightly as if he were holding on to a pork hock. He did it no matter how she tried to position herself.
Feng Lanchu had once tried to ask her mother-in-law if Jiang Anzhi liked pork hocks but had received a negative reply. So she was even more confused by his behavior.
She drew her hand away helplessly and saw Jiang Anzhi frowning. She skillfully placed her pillow in Jiang Anzhi’s embrace, and he slowly released his furrowed brows after a long while. Feng Lanchu only left the room after he fell back into a deep sleep.
Jiang Anzhi only woke up in the afternoon. Feng Lanchu did not bother him and did her own things as usual. Angling Jiang, on the other hand, kept poking his head into the bedroom the entire morning.
Feng Lanchu ruffled his hair with a smile and said, “Your dad rarely gets to come home and rest. Don’t bother him.”
“It’s already 11. Isn’t Dad hungry?”
“He will wake up when he’s hungry.”
“Sigh. I really want Dad to play with me.” Angling Jiang propped up his chin and sighed woefully.
When she saw Angling’s despondent expression, Feng Lanchu could not help but recall her conversation with Jiang Anzhi last night. She asked curiously, “Angling if Dad and I were to split up, who would you want to live with?”
Angling Jiang frowned bewilderedly and paused for a long while before saying,
“Dad.”
… She knew it. Feng Lanchu flicked at his forehead speechlessly. “Don’t you love your mom?”
“I can only get rid of the stepmother if I go with Dad.” He replied calmly.
Feng Lanchu looked at the little boy in shock. She saw that Angling’s eyes were calm. It was as if he were talking about how delicious breakfast was this morning.
“Who… who told you that you would have a stepmother if Dad and I were to split up?”
“Jiang Ting’s parents only split up because she got a new mom.”
Jiang Ting was a cousin of Jiang Che. She was Mr. Jiang’s younger brother’s granddaughter. The two children would play together on occasion, and they would share many things.
Angling Jiang glanced at the shell-shocked Feng Lanchu and asked, “Or are you going to find me a new dad?”
“I trust that you won’t find me a new dad.” Angling Jiang smiled sweetly, revealing his little teeth. He said, “The only person in this world who is interested in you is Dad. But I am not sure about Dad. He’s too outstanding.”
Feng Lanchu was just about to smile when she was forced to stop by the second part of Angling’s statement.
Darn it! What was so bad about her?
Feng Lanchu looked up at the ceiling helplessly. Where did this son of hers come from? Why was he so clever and mischievous? But she had never thought that her child would have such thoughts.
She said, “Angling, firstly, I want to apologize for my thoughtless question. I was joking, so don’t think too much into it. Secondly, no matter what kind of new environment you are in, or what new friends you make in the future, I hope that you will not reject them right from the start but try to observe and get to know them. You might be pleasantly surprised, right?”
“Yep.” Angling nodded. “Other than a new dad and a new mom, I will go out there and try out and observe new things.”
Angling Jiang seemed not to notice how Feng Lanchu’s expression had become rather stiff. He looked up at the sun hanging high up in the sky and said, “Mom, quick go and cook. Dad will be waking up soon.”
“Hah!” Feng Lanchu laughed coldly. She could not be bothered to argue with the child and went to the kitchen. How much exactly did she owe these two in her past life?
Feng Lanchu began to get busy in the kitchen. Angling slipped into the master bedroom while she was not paying attention.
