Jiang Anzhi had not slept so well in almost half a year. He felt as if he was lying on the soft grass and was surrounded by the fresh scent of plants. Every pore of his was relaxed.
While he was drifting in the state between dreaming and being awake, he felt a soft body approaching and rubbing its face on him.
He opened his eyes and saw Angling curled up obediently beside his arm, nuzzling into him. Jiang Anzhi’s heart melted completely, and he reached out to wrap his son in an embrace.
The child was soft and tiny. Other than the unique milky scent of a child, he also smelt like his mother.
“Jiang Che, what are you doing?” Jiang Anzhi asked lazily. The dimples in his cheeks were beautiful.
“Dad, you’re finally awake.” Angling looked up in surprise. Then, he asked somewhat sadly, “Did I wake you up?”
“Yes, what shall we do?” Jiang Anzhi asked jokingly.
Angling smiled and said, “Er… I am sorry.”
“You rascal.” Jiang Anzhi hugged the child dotingly and even patted his butt a few times symbolically. Angling struggled and tried to run away but could not escape from Jiang Anzhi’s grasp. He could only laugh and beg for forgiveness.
“Dad, I have a secret piece of news for you.”
Jiang Anzhi looked at his mischievous son and thought that the situation was rather funny. “What’s the news?”
“Mom asked who I want to live with if you two were to split up.”
Jiang Anzhi’s eyes darkened, but the smile on his lips stayed as he asked, “What did you say?”
“I said I would go with you, of course.”
“Why?” Jiang Anzhi raised his brows in surprise.”
“Because…” Angling, Jiang’s eyes darted around slightly. Then, he smiled and said, “Because I love Dad the most.”
“Oh?” Jiang Anzhi had not thought that his son would choose him. He smiled and kissed Angling’s face and said gently, “Don’t worry. Mom and Dad won’t separate.”
“Really?” The worry in Angling’s eyes could not be hidden.
“Of course.”
“That’s great. I love Dad the most.” Angling smiled for real this time. He even jumped into Jiang Anzhi’s arms excitedly and hugged the man tightly.
Jiang Anzhi could figure out how people think after so many years of acting. Even though he did not know what exactly Angling was thinking, he could easily sense the changes in the child’s innermost thoughts. When he thought of how such a tiny child knew how to pretend to be strong, Jiang Anzhi’s heart hurt.
His son was truly the strongest and most intelligent boy in this world.
…
The news of Jiang Anzhi’s love life continued to soar on the charts while he rested at home. However, he did not care at all. He only focused on playing with Jiang Che. The father and son duo kicked a ball around and played with cars in the front yard. They also picked vegetables, watered the plants in the backyard. They had a lot of fun together.
There were a few vegetable plots near the backyard wall where many types of vegetables were planted. There was also a stream that meandered into a human-made pond by the vegetable plots. The pool planted a huge bougainvillea. Bright red petals fell from the plant and into the pond, and the carps swam with petals in their mouth.
Across the pond was a grapevine trellis. Beneath the trellis was a white marble table and chairs. It was an elegant and secluded area.
Feng Lanchu had been the one to decorate the yard, and the entire Jiang family loved it.
At first, she had wanted to make a simple cultivation site at home to study flowering plants. Then, a professor from her department had given her some vegetable seeds, so Feng Lanchu scattered some in the vegetable plots. She had not expected that the vegetables would grow so well and that her mother-in-law would become interested in them.
Her mother-in-law was like Jiang Anzhi. They were both used to wealth, so they were very interested in greenery, organic vegetables, and nature. She would come and do a little gardening when she was free. As time passed, vegetables that existed one would see on the market appeared in the vegetable patch. They included tomatoes, green beans, eggplants, cucumbers, gourds, and peppers,
It did not matter whether they ate these vegetables or not, but the vegetable plot brought them a lot of joy.
