Three years later-
The three-month panda observation session at the Wolong Nature Reserve had ended. The students decided to stay in Wolong and have fun for another two days. Meanwhile, Feng Lanchu, who had brought her child along on the trip she had led, had to leave.
Speaking of Feng Lanchu’s child, the little boy was wearing a cap from the panda observatory gift shop. He was wearing a white T-shirt that had a panda cub printed on it and a pair of striped overalls. There was even a tuft of a tail on the bottom of his overalls. He was dressed like a little panda and was very eye-catching.
The little boy was Feng Lanchu’s son, Jiang Che, also known as Angling.
Her life seemed to have been put on fast forward ever since her flash marriage. She had fallen pregnant when they had consummated the marriage. Then, she had the baby and raised it… Her child was already running around the nature reserve with her in the blink of an eye.
It sounded as if time had passed in a flash, but to her, it had felt like an eternity.
It had been three whole years. To take good care of Jiang Che, she had rejected invitations from the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary in Dubai to join their flamingo research project and the Masai Mara National Wildlife Sanctuary in Kenya. She had spent all her time in Huaixiang and had barely left her house.
Madam Liang was the happiest person out of all of them. She had successfully tied down Feng Lanchu with marriage and did not have to worry any longer that her daughter would marry an African chief or a blonde foreigner. She also did not have to worry about her daughter being eaten by a lion or a tiger.
Compared to Madam Liang’s good intentions, Feng Lanchu’s thoughts were not that simple.
She had finally made it until Jiang Che was three years old. She had plucked up the courage to accept the school’s deployment to Wolong for a project. Feng Lanchu did not dare to tell anyone that it was a nature reserve she was visiting. She had only said that she was going to Chuanshu to visit and had even brought Jiang Che along to deceive everyone.
Over the past three months, she had not only felt that both her mind and body were relaxed, but Jiang Che, who was immersed in nature, was very happy as well.
Feng Lanchu could sense that her son was starting to like her more than his father.
It was odd. Other kids were all closer to their mother, but her child was fascinated with his father. She was the one who kept their child company every day, but she was no match for his father whom he only saw occasionally. The person the child talked about the most every day was his father.
Ha, men.
Feng Lanchu glanced at Jiangche and saw the child patting his tiny bag several times. She could not help but tap his cap and asked curiously, “Angling, what did you put inside your bag?”
“It’s a present for Dad.” Angling Jiang looked up and replied seriously.
Feng Lanchu rolled her eyes. Honestly… this child was so heartless.
“What have you prepared for him?”
Angling Jiang smiled slightly. The dimples in his cheeks were obvious, and his smile was exactly like Jiang Anzhi’s.
“It’s bamboo leaves for little panda cubs.”
Feng Lanchu glanced at the contents of the bag. Goodness gracious. She did not know when the child had picked those leaves, but his bag was filled with them.
Feng Lanchu had wanted to tease him and ask where her present was, but her phone started ringing. She looked at her phone and saw that it was a call from her mother-in-law.
“Hello, Mom. What’s the matter?”
“Er… Where are you guys at now?”
Mrs. Jiang sounded uneasy. Feng Lanchu thought that that was odd.
“We are at the airport getting ready to board our flight.”
“Er, I will come and pick you two up later.”
“Mingming said yesterday that she would pick us up.”
“Then… come back for dinner tonight. I will make you and Angling good food.”
When Feng Lanchu thought of how her mother-in-law had not seen her grandson for three months, she figured that the woman probably missed the child. As such, she could only nod in agreement.
“Alright, we will head back tonight.”
“Good, good. Then be careful. See you tonight.”
“Alright, see you tonight.”
After hanging up, Feng Lanchu was a little confused. She felt that Mrs. Jiang’s excessive attentiveness had been rather odd. Could it be that the movie star had gotten into trouble again?
“Was that Grandma?” The little panda beside her looked up and asked. His dark eyes shone with confidence.
“Yes. Grandma said that she will cook you excellent food tonight.”
Jiang Che’s eyes curved in a smile when he heard that. His lips curled up slightly. His smile was so very similar to Jiang Anzhi’s.
“Let’s go. We have to board the plane now.”
Feng Lanzhi ruffled her son’s hair dotingly and led her son to the boarding gate. She made a mental note to go online and find out what happened when she returned to Huaixiang.
