Chapter 477: Chapter 477: Shall We Sleep Together Tonight?
Lu Lingche felt that his temper had been honed better by her.
In the past, he would never explain a matter to this extent, as it was quite beneath his dignity.
However, if he didn’t explain, if he wanted to preserve his dignity, she might slap him again, which would undoubtedly be even more humiliating.
Qiao Yin leaned into his arms, not saying a word.
The delusion that he loved her returned, filling her with distress.
After some time, she heard his soft confession, “Actually, I’ve felt somewhat out of sorts after the divorce.”
A sour sensation filled Qiao Yin’s eyes.
It wasn’t only her who was uncomfortable.
Yet, for him, it was only a bit of discomfort.
For her, it was as if the sky had fallen and the earth had split open; she couldn’t accept the idea of losing him from her life for a very long time.
Did she drag on their divorce just to spite Lan Yuyi?
Only she knew that it wasn’t the case.
Her subconscious was resisting the loss of him.
She had loved him too deeply, for too long, engraving him in her bones.
Divorce felt like scooping out her own bones.
His kiss landed swiftly.
Gentle, languishing, burning, familiar.
Qiao Yin responded instinctively with a kiss of her own.
But a second later, she pushed his head away.
Lu Lingche caught her hand and kissed her again before looking deep into her eyes and asking, “Don’t you like it?”
“That’s right, I don’t like it. Let go of me.”
“You’re lying to me, Qiao Yin.”
“We’re divorced; have you forgotten, President Lu?”
“If you want to remarry, we could.”
“In your dreams. I’ll never remarry you. Go marry your goddess.”
Lu Lingche held her and belatedly realized that Qiao Yin might be jealous.
He had little contact with women and was obtuse when it came to feelings, hence he didn’t understand Qiao Yin’s emotions.
Of course, he had never tried to understand in the past either.
Only now, realizing that he cared for her, did he attempt to understand.
He gripped Qiao Yin’s wrist and quietly counted her pulse.
After a moment, he asked, “Do you hate Lan Yuyi?”
“Of course. Is there even a need to ask?”
“Are you jealous?”
“No.”
Lu Lingche felt her pulse change ever so slightly.
So, she was indeed jealous.
He brought her face into his chest, out of her sight, and smiled faintly.
Qiao Yin struggled. “Lu Lingche, are you trying to suffocate me? Let me go!”
Lu Lingche released her. In a measured voice, he asked, “Shall we sleep together tonight?”
Annoyed, Qiao Yin kicked him and pointed at the open window. “Who wants to sleep with you? Get out!”
With a slight frown, Lu Lingche asked, “You still want to drive me away?”
Wasn’t she jealous? Didn’t she like him too? Why couldn’t they sleep together?
Qiao Yin found him simply unreasonable. “Why can’t I drive you away? This is my home. Go sleep at your place.”
Lu Lingche wanted to say more when his phone suddenly rang.
He looked at the screen; seeing Madame Lu’s call, he immediately declined it.
But Madame Lu persisted, calling another four times.
Fearing something had happened to Lan Yuyi, a frowning Lu Lingche answered the phone, “What’s wrong?”
“Mrs. Lan has attempted suicide and is undergoing resuscitation. Yuyi has fainted. Get to the hospital immediately!”
“Suicide?”
“Stop asking and come to the hospital now!”
Madame Lu promptly ended the call.
With a detached expression, Lu Lingche returned his phone to his pocket, a hint of derision tugging at the corners of his mouth.
Without meaning to, Qiao Yin asked, “Who committed suicide?”
“Mrs. Lan.”
Qiao Yin was astounded, “Why?”
“Perhaps because her husband had an affair and sired a child out of wedlock?”
“Even when my husband cheated and had a son out of wedlock, I’m still very much alive. Mrs. Lan’s daughter is about to be born, why would she commit suicide, risking the chance of giving her daughter trauma?”
