Chapter 64: The Real McCoy
He responded in an instant, asking, “No wefies?”
Jiang Jiusheng decided then that it was time to give her fan, Shi Jin, a handout. Holding the dog, she asked Tan Mobao to help take their picture.
Holding her local cat, Tan Mbao asked with an expectant look on her face, “May I join you, please?”
Jiang Jiusheng saw no reason why she couldn’t. Tan Mobao asked one of the shop assistants for help, and, many poses and more than ten shots later, Jiang Jiusheng selected a few and sent them to Shi Jin.
“Who’s that beside you?” asked Shi Jin.
Jiang Jiusheng gave it some thought before responding, “A fan.”
Barely ten seconds later, Shi Jin called and exclaimed without preamble, “What if she’s a secret fan? Sheng, don’t get too close to her.”
Jiang Jiusheng was at a loss as to how she should respond. After all, Shi Jin was also a secret fan.
Worried that he had angered her, Shi Jin quickly explained, “What I mean is that not all secret fans are like me, who wish you no harm.” He continued cautiously and in a measured tone, “And I don’t mean to interfere.”
“I know,” Jiang Jiusheng hid a smile and continued, “It’s someone I know. Not a baddie.”
Shi Jin said nothing and simply asked her to get home soon so that Bomei could have her meal. Jiang Jiusheng agreed with a laugh.
After she hung up, Tan Mobao sidled up to her and smiled adoringly. “Sheng Ye, could you send me the photos, please?”
Jiang Jiusheng was in a very good mood, as could be seen in her smile and the softening of the usually distant eyes. “Sure,” she said.
Home run! Picking up my hubby’s Weibo ID!
Tan Mobao was so excited that she pulled out a tuft of her local cat’s fur. Having said goodbye to her, Jiang Jiusheng bought some dog food and toys, then left the pet shop with Bomei.
Tan Mobao crouched at the entrance of the pet shop and watched as her “hubby” walked away. Gently touching her hubby’s signature on her chest, she took a long time to calm her tumultuous feelings before starting to send Weibo messages with one hand and stroking her cat with the other.
ShengYe’s_SecretLover006: This is our family of four. My hubby is a super person!
Attached to the message was a picture of two women, one Pomeranian, and one local cat.
The message had only just been sent—she hadn’t even had the time to see any responses—when the phone rang. When she saw the caller ID, Tan Mobao frowned and hesitated before she eventually accepted the call.
A lecture had begun on the other end of the line.
Rubbing her ear, Tan Mobao laughed insolently and retorted playfully, “I’m just living up to my title of the rebellious child. Isn’t it normal for a rebellious child to act up?”
Her old man erupted into another explosive lecture, causing Tan Mobao to hold the cell phone far away from her ear.
After hearing the formal message from the other end, Tan Mobao thought for three seconds before responding in mock surprise, “My mother’s birthday?” With an incredulous look on her face, she asked, “Who is my mother?”
Her father was struck speechless.
Pulling at her lip, she laughed and said: “Pa, you’re confused. My mother died ages ago. I was the one who arranged for her burial with a coffin that cost $1,600, along with $400 for the gravedigger. Great deal.”
Doo. Doo. Doo…
The line had been cut off.
Laughing cheerlessly, Tan Mobao continued with her Weibo messaging. She had only just opened her home page when she realized that her earlier message had gone missing!
What the…?!
That tech-savvy secret fan had been trailing her! How dare he mess with her Weibo?! Resorting to her generic IDs, she left a stinging message!
ShengYe’s_SecretLover007: What a small man you are to mess with my Weibo messages just because you are too jealous! Show me what you’ve got! Show me that you too have such family bliss, and I will call you Daddy! @Sheng4ever
Sheng4ever simply uploaded a photo.
What??
It was the exact same photo she had uploaded earlier!
ShengYe’s_SecretLover007: Shameless thief! @Sheng4ever
The other party uploaded a few more photos.
Tan Mobao was truly shocked. How did this tech-savvy secret fan get hold of the photos she had taken with Jiang Jiusheng earlier?
Sheng4ever: Stay far away from her.
Tan Mobao didn’t respond. She began to wonder about this person she had come up against.
