Chapter 555: Chapter 555: Clearly in the Same Place
“Mm.”
Gu Ming came to his senses and respectfully replied, “Yes.”
If he remembered correctly, the cover of next week’s magazine featured Miss Rong.
Mr. Li had directly ordered one hundred thousand copies… Sales for Miss Rong’s issue of the magazine would not be a worry.
But why, after buying all those copies, did he still want everyone in the company to circulate it? Was it for them to see the magazine cover Miss Rong had shot?
What he couldn’t possibly guess to his dying day was that Li Shengxiao wanted everyone to see it because Rong Yan had publicly acknowledged in the interview that she had a boyfriend and even admitted her fondness for her “boyfriend”!
“Mr. Li, the meeting…” He noted down the task to buy the magazines and then brought up work.
Li Shengxiao’s mood, which had been gloomy before, lifted, and he stood up straight, instructing him, “Go get ready, I’ll be right there!”
“Alright.” Gu Ming was about to leave when he remembered Rong Yan and Li Duidui were still in the resting room. Holding the office door with one hand, he hesitated and opened his mouth uneasily, “Mr. Li…”
Li Shengxiao was in a good mood, surprisingly not displeased by his sudden hesitation, and glanced at him, his thin lips lightly touching as he said, “Anything else?”
Gu Ming, recalling the promise he had made to Rong Yan to keep silent, held back even though he was itching to speak. He avoided the man’s sharp gaze and lowered his head, saying, “I was wondering if you’d still like me to prepare a cup of Blue Mountain coffee for you later?”
Li Shengxiao furrowed his brows, feeling that today Gu Ming was particularly talkative, “Whatever, make it a latte!”
“Yes.” Gu Ming felt the gaze on him burning like fire as he cooked up an excuse. He quietly exited and closed the door behind him.
Li Shengxiao was completely unaware that Rong Yan had paid a visit, so he did not overthink it. He gathered the materials he needed for the meeting and headed towards the meeting room with his phone in hand.
Today’s meeting involved discussions with other shareholders of Li Group regarding a business district project in Krea, since there were many details to finalize. The meeting had been going on for over two hours with no sign of ending.
The man seated at the head of the table glanced at the sky outside, automatically tuning out the two disputing shareholders, and lowered his eyes to pick up the phone that lay on the conference table.
7:05 PM.
At this time, was that little woman done with her work?
Had she returned to Dihor Garden?
She hadn’t sent a message or called yet to ask if he would return for dinner; could it be she was still busy outside?
Li Shengxiao knitted his brows.
Seven o’clock in the evening wasn’t too late for him, but for her, he was still uneasy about her being out at that time.
His distracted hand lay on the table, his fingertips tapping intermittently on the surface.
The tapping sound grew louder, causing the two shareholders, who had previously been arguing fiercely, to slowly quiet down, trading looks of concern as they both saw worry reflected in the other’s eyes.
Was the CEO frequently checking his phone because he was tired of their lengthy argument?
Both of them shivered inwardly, their argument turning into a more amiable negotiation.
Unfortunately for them, Li Shengxiao’s attention was not on them at all; he didn’t notice their transition to ‘amicable concessions.’ After several minutes of checking his phone with no message from Rong Yan, he decided to take the initiative and sent a message.
Ding ding.
In the resting room on the same floor of Li Group, Rong Yan was engrossed in playing games with Little Baby, when suddenly her phone chimed, her character was hit by a shotgun blast and fell to the ground.
She let out a frustrated cry and said to Little Baby, still charging into the fray, “Baby, wait a sec.”
She returned to the main screen and opened the new message that had come in; it was from Li Shengxiao and read a simple,[Still busy?]
