Ch. 089.3: She’s One of Moon Water Paradise’s People?! (3) Translator : MoonWhisperer, TWIP I Editor : TWIP
Since they weren’t here to snatch the secret book, just why were they looking for her? She gazed at Fairy Shui Qing suspiciously. It couldn’t be that they were trying to gain her trust before trying to snatch the secret book again, right?
Fairy Shui Qing could tell what kind of thoughts Du Xiao Li was having. So she said, “Miss Du, perhaps you don’t know, but the circulation of this secret book initially started with us. Thus, we have absolutely no intention of snatching it back.”
What?!
Du Xiao Li was so shocked by Fairy Shui Qing’s words that she was completely speechless. Although Fairy Shui Qing didn’t say it explicitly, Du Xiao Li could still tell what she meant by those words.
The (Wind Blowing Snow) that once brought about carnage to the martial arts world used to be Moon Water Paradise’s secret book, and it had started circulating from them. In fact, they had leaked it deliberately!
The one in Du Xiao Li’s possession was perhaps just a duplicate. Maybe the real thing was still in their old base!
Why did they have to do this? Why did they want to incite turmoil within the martial arts world? What goa/ were they trying to achieve? This secret book had been circulating around the martial arts world for so manyyears. Did that mean they had already been planning this out since way back then?
When she thought of how the entire martial arts world’s vigorous pursuit of this book was actually just part of a plan filled with ulterior motives… Du Xiao Li couldn’t help feeling a chill strike her heart. Just what sort of sect was this?!
“Miss Du, its not like what you’re thinking,” Fairy Shui Qing said hurriedly when she saw Du Xiao Li’s expression. “The specific reason is not something that I’m at liberty to tell you right now, but if we were not at our last resort, we wouldn’t have done such a thing. Just think about it, who would leak out their sect’s secret book unless they were at their last resort?”
Du Xiao Li thought about it and felt it made sense. She was very clear on just how powerful this Wind Blowing Snow was. So for them to have leaked out this sort of treasure that none in the martial arts world wouldn’t treasure, they probably did indeed have some sort of unspeakable difficulties back then.
“Okay. I’ll believe you for now,” Du Xiao Li said.
“Thank you Miss Du for your trust.” Fairy Shui Qing let out a sigh of relief.
‘However, whats the purpose of having Teacher Feng infiltrate the Imperial Court with a hidden identity? Could it still be ultimately because of this?” Previously, Du Xiao Li had a fairly good impression of Water Moon Paradise, so she never thought to ask. Regardless, she was now somewhat guarded against them, so she naturally had to ask about Feng Li Shangs objective.
“More or less. If Du Xiao Li agrees, we can go back to town and rest for a night. Then I’ll give you a thorough explanation about the reason,” Fairy Shui Qing said. “That gentleman over there is currently injured and not fit to be traveling hastily so immediately. Moreover, even if you were to return to Phoenix City right now, you wouldn’t be able to rush back before the gates close.”
It was just that this meant Beiling Yi Cheng would absolutely be unable to participate in the competition because tomorrow was the last of the finals!
“Okay then.”
The party of people once again returned to the small town. Soon after they left, a group of blackclothed people arrived in the woods.
Seeing the many corpses that covered the ground, one of the people said, “It seems the other party has strong helpers. In order to guarantee our absolute success, send a message back to dispatch more people over here.”
‘Will do,” someone answered and then left speedily.
“So what if you have helpers? Tomorrow will be your death day! Let’s go.”
After the black-clothed people went on their way, the autumn wind blew over and swept dead leaves onto the many corpses, making for an exceptionally forlorn scene.
Meanwhile, Du Xiao Li had no idea there was still an even larger group of people awaiting her…
She and the others had gone to the town’s best inn. After getting a room, she left for the pharmacy to buy some medicinal ingredients and brewed some medicine for Beiling Yi Cheng to take. Then she let him rest.
Du Xiao Li felt this Beiling Yi Cheng was pretty good. He was a prince, yet he hadn’t made a single sound despite being so heavily injured. She dared to give a guarantee that if it were Han Min Hong, he would definitely already be crying out so loudly that his screams reached the skies!
Once Beiling Yi Cheng fell asleep, Du Xiao Li went to Fairy Shui Qings room. She knocked on the door and went in to find Feng Li Shang was also present. The two people were currently sitting at the table whilst discussing something.
“Miss Du, please take a seat.” Fairy Shui Qing gestured at the seat opposite her.
Du Xiao Li gazed at the pale-faced Beiling Yi Cheng for a moment. He had lost too much blood and was indeed unfit for such hasty travel. If they went back to town and rested for a night, they could still return to Phoenix City in time. Furthermore, they were currently without horses, so they would still have to go back to town to acquire a pair of horses anyway.
Du Xiao Li sat down and looked at the other two people before saying, “You can now say why you were looking for me, right?”
“Before that, I would like to ask you something. Miss Du, when you acquired this secret book, Wind Blowing Snow, was there also a flute? A jade flute that’s identical to this bamboo flute.” Fairy Shui Qing took out a bamboo flute and placed it on the table.
Du Xiao Li gazed at the bamboo flute that looked pretty much identical to her own and was silent for a few seconds before nodding.
Knowing that the jade flute was in Du Xiao Li’s possession, Fairy Shui Qing appeared somewhat excited. She asked eagerly, “In that case, are you able to produce sound by blowing into that flute?”
“l am.”
“Really?!” Even Feng Li Shang got excited upon hearing Du Xiao Li’s reply.
“Yes, I could make sounds with it the first time I blew into it,” Du Xiao Li answered. “Going by your reactions, I guess there are people who can’t play this flute?”
“Normal flutes are all playable. Only these two flutes are different; not everyone can play them.
Give this flute a try.” Fairy Shui Qing handed the bamboo flute over to Du Xiao Li.
Fairy Shui Qing was letting Du Xiao Li try out her weapon… ?
Du Xiao Li accepted the bamboo flute and carefully examined it for a moment. Although this flute appeared pretty much identical to hers, one would find some differences upon a close examination. The biggest difference was that her flute’s holes had a design showing a phoenix with its wings spread open.
Then she placed the bamboo flute by her mouth and gently blew several times, causing the flute to emit crisp sounds. After just playing several notes, she put down the flute and returned it to Fairy
Shui Qing.
