Chapter 147: Chapter 147 Special Period
Yao Yi had been truly happy these past couple of days. The man from the villa in front had always come to see him, who gave him milk. He didn’t seem to have any particular motive; he simply wanted to learn about the knowledge of human acupoints.
Although Yao Yi had studied Western medicine, he was also knowledgeable about human acupoints. Plus, he always felt empty and lonely in the villa, so he was very welcoming to Guo Yang.
“Are you trying to learn traditional Chinese medicine?” Yao Yi could not help but ask.
“No, I’m researching some cool moves.”
Guo Yang buried his head in a human acupoints chart over a meter long, seriously studying it.
“Moves for hitting people?”
What does that have to do with acupoints? Yao Yi was puzzled.
“Yeah, hitting zombies, and people too.”
“…”
Well, seeing how serious Guo Yang was, Yao Yi felt it would be rude to disturb him any further. He sipped the milk Guo Yang had given him and comfortably leaned back on the couch. If Guo Yang had any questions, he would just come to ask him. Speaking of which, those iron needles in Guo Yang’s hands looked quite frightening; those were definitely not needles used for acupuncture but rather for taking lives.
But those people were all very powerful. Last time he watched from the fourth floor. Unfortunately, he himself didn’t have any special abilities — he could only envy them.
It was only near dinner time that Guo Yang finally packed up, ready to leave. Seeing the pitiful Yao Yi, Guo Yang sighed, took a bucket of instant noodles from his space, and threw it to him — consider it as today’s tuition fee.
Yao Yi was overwhelmingly moved; he had earned a bucket of noodles and, oh right, a box of milk through his own efforts today.
At this moment, Guo Yang, who had already walked away, suddenly seemed like a gold-master “daddy” in his eyes. How great, today was another day he didn’t starve to death.
Inside the main villa, the dinner table was quite lavishly set, and there was even a pot of chicken soup filled with red dates and goji berries.
Su Jin smiled awkwardly; this blood-nourishing meal was specially prepared by her grandparents from the space. It was all because Lu Hao, for no reason, went into the space and mentioned to grandma that he had been feeling unwell these past few days and had asked if there were any blood-nourishing foods.
Grandma Li Xiuying heard this and considered it a big deal. Therefore, she and Lin Yunguo got busy preparing this completely nourishing meal.
Xue Wanyi, who didn’t know the reason, ate his favorite stir-fried pork liver, blissfully. The pork liver was so delicious that it had no trace of a gamey taste, and the fresh scent of bell peppers added, it was tender and smoothly went with the rice in his mouth, delicious, truly delicious.
Lin Xiuyuan wasn’t very hungry actually; he had eaten quite a few snacks made by Lin Yunguo in the space in the afternoon. But now, looking at the fish and meat dishes on the table, he couldn’t help but eat two more bowls of rice.
Lu Hao kept adding pork liver, fish fillets, spinach, and chicken legs to Su Jin’s bowl…
Seeing her meal pile up like a small mountain in front of her, Su Jin quickly stopped Lu Hao. It was just a period, after all; there was no need for such fuss, it’s as if she was having a baby.
The family members at the dining table, besides eating, chatted as usual, and Guo Yang and the others had already adapted to this habit. They ate and talked with everyone, lively and warmly.
“Guo Yang, what have you been up to these days? Why do you keep running over there?” Xue Wanyi asked.
“I’m practicing my special abilities, but I’m not sure if it will work yet,” Guo Yang didn’t hide it and spoke openly.
“What kind of special abilities can you practice with a doctor?” Xue Wanyi asked, puzzled.
“Hehe, I’ll tell you guys once it’s successful,” Guo Yang said lackadaisically.
Guo Yang wasn’t very confident; it was just a wild idea, after all. He was going to put it into practice, but he wasn’t sure if it would work, so to avoid being mocked by everyone, he chose to keep quiet for now.
Su Jin was also curious about what Guo Yang was practicing, but she didn’t press for answers to avoid dampening anyone’s spirits later on.
“Xiao Jin, Xiao Hao mentioned that we can go out to kill zombies tomorrow?” Mao Zhihang asked while munching on some fragrant fried red-skinned peanuts.
“Yes, there aren’t many zombies nearby, so it will be relatively safe for us to venture out now,” Su Jin replied.
Because of the mission involving Liang Jiuqing and others last time, they had almost lured half of the nearby street’s zombies away. When Liang Jiuhui came, he also mentioned that there were few zombies nearby, so even if they went out to clear them, they wouldn’t have to worry about encountering a zombie tide.
“That’s great, I’ve been going stir crazy these past few days,” Liao Yifan said happily.
Since they had figured out a new fighting technique, they often attracted a whole row of villas’ zombies all together and then eliminated them en masse, which was quite unsuitable for someone like him, a special ability user who was only good at close combat.
With the Thunder and Water Elements’ collaboration, they could eliminate many zombies. Additionally, Nie Qing and Xue Wanyi’s Wind Element ability had progressed enough for them to create Wind Balls.
Although the Wind Balls couldn’t kill in one strike, they were very useful for defense.
The two of them had been using Wind Balls on zombies these past few days; one Wind Ball could knock a zombie far away. The zombies they caught were first played like balls between them, broken thoroughly before he had the chance to strike the final blow.
Feeling like a ball boy, Liao Yifan pouted.
“Is Guo Yang going to stay in the villa to practice his special ability tomorrow, or is he coming with us?” Lu Hao asked.
“Of course, he’s coming with us. What if there’s good stuff to collect into the space?”
“Yeah, sounds good. Xiao Jin won’t go tomorrow, she’ll stay at home and watch the house,”
Lu Hao had not planned to let Su Jin go anyhow. The villa area was quite safe, and even if there was danger, Su Jin could hide in her space. So, it was better to have her rest well at home.
All the women present knew the reason for this decision; although the men were a bit puzzled, they sensibly did not ask further questions. Guo Yang was about to ask, but he was promptly silenced by a chopstick tap from Liao Yifan beside him. Sighing over his reddened hand, Guo Yang decided it was best not to ask any more.
Having her period was truly inconvenient, Su Jin thought unhappily. She planned to go to the space to practice her special ability later, as she hadn’t moved much all day and was beginning to feel uncomfortable.
That evening, when she entered the space, Mrs. Su was there as well, pulling Su Jin to the back kitchen to drink another bowl of her personally made red bean porridge, tasting just like it used to.
Su Jin couldn’t help but recall the days before the apocalypse when she still lived in her parents’ house; her mother would make a small pot of red bean porridge for her every month at this time. Now, even in these chaotic times, her mother’s habits and flavors hadn’t changed, which was really nostalgic.

In the refuge in City S, the Liang family and some administrators discussed a series of issues regarding the choice of site for the new base.
Though some people opposed, eventually, they decided that the new base would be centered around Dragon Leap Villa, beginning from City West and demarcating areas according to the terrain.
Liang Wei, the pre-apocalypse mayor of City S, had been overseeing the overall situation during this period, and people seemed to trust him. However, he knew his position was fragile, especially since there were no higher authorities to hold him in check anymore, and others coveting his position.
Thus, he decided to visit City West tomorrow with some representative administrators. Though Liang Jiuhui and Liang Jiuqing had previously visited and approved of City West, managing such matters wasn’t just up to the Liang family. If he wanted everyone to be convinced, he needed to present something compelling.
