Chapter 7: 007 Mama’s boy
If there’s one person in the world who will love you unconditionally,
it must be your mother.
Perhaps it was the coldness and warmth of human relationships in a past life that made Li Zhiyan feel a fondness for Wu Auntie in this life.
Back home, Li Zhiyan saw his sneakers and his mother’s high heels on the shoe rack.
Looking at the familiar rental home, alive with a warm atmosphere.
Li Zhiyan called out for his mom.
“Mom,”
“What’s wrong?”
Zhou Rongrong, who was wearing an apron while making food for Li Zhiyan in the kitchen, replied.
In that moment, Li Zhiyan’s tears broke through their barriers.
Running into the kitchen without any concern for his image, he threw himself into his mother’s embrace, crying.
After 13 years, he finally had a mother to rely on again.
In this lifetime, he definitely had to protect his mother well and give her the best life possible.
“Xiao Yan, what’s wrong? Did someone bully you? Mom will go and settle the score with them,”
Zhou Rongrong was really scared; she had never seen Li Zhiyan so heartbroken before.
He must have encountered some problem that was making him so upset.
Hearing his mother’s worried voice, Li Zhiyan managed to calm his emotions quickly.
Just as he entered and heard his mother’s voice, he couldn’t control his emotions.
“I’m fine, mom, I just missed you,”
At this moment, a middle-aged beauty dressed in a cheongsam came out of the bathroom.
“Yo, I never realized your son was such a mama’s boy,”
“He’s so grown up and still crying in his mom’s arms, haha.”
Li Zhiyan turned his head and saw Wu Qingxian, his mother’s close friend. His mom and Wu Auntie had always had the best relationship.
Li Zhiyan knew this, but he never really paid attention before.
Wu Auntie was so beautiful, she almost became his godmother at one point.
And cheongsams were her favorite, they perfectly showcased her figure!
“Xiao Yan might just be in a bad mood; he’s not usually like this,”
Li Zhiyan candidly admitted, “Yes, Wu Auntie, I am a mama’s boy. I want to be mommy’s baby for my whole life.”
“You have no shame do you.”
Watching the young man before her, Wu Qingxian felt that Li Zhiyan seemed different from before.
In the past, he was always evasive and barely spoke to his elders. The last time she saw him was after the college entrance exams he had been like that, but now he seemed like he had changed.
“What’s there to be ashamed about.”
Li Zhiyan wiped his tears and sat down next to Wu Qingxian.
“Wu Auntie, the happiest thing in the world is to be by mom’s side,”
Wu Qingxian, deep in thought, patted Li Zhiyan on the head.
“Actually, being a mama’s boy isn’t so bad. Not like my son, who’s always far away from me,”
“When we meet, he acts like he’s meeting an enemy. You’re at the same university too; if only he would learn from you and be closer to his mom,”
In the kitchen, Zhou Rongrong also felt a sting in her eyes; her naughty son seemed to understand everything now.
When he goes back to school, she would also have to go to Magic Capital to make money.
In today’s society, with fewer women than men in Li Zhiyan’s generation, if he didn’t have his own house in the future, the chances are high that he would be single for life, never able to find a wife. But today, her son suddenly became so clingy.
If she told him she was going to work in Magic Capital, would he agree?
Zhou Rongrong felt anxious; she needed to persuade her son properly.
After the meal was prepared, Li Zhiyan also took the initiative to help his mother serve the dishes.
He realized how inconsiderate he had been in the past.
He had never helped his mother with the housework, always being fed and clothed without lifting a finger.
His mother took care of everything, from clothing to food to shelter, and only when he lost her did he understand the pain of having his heart torn apart.
Thankfully, there was still time to make everything right.
“`
Li Zhiyan took the initiative to help with the chores, and his behavior earlier had convinced Zhou Rongrong that her son was up to something.
Was he wanting to buy a new computer for gaming, or had he gotten into some kind of trouble?
“Mama’s boy, you’re really filial, even helping your mom with household chores.”
“If only my son were this thoughtful, I’d be overjoyed to death.”
Envy tinged Wu Qingxian’s voice as she realized that having a mama’s boy for a son seemed quite blissful.
During dinner, Wu Qingxian brought up how companies in Magic Capital offered high salaries, at least double those in Wancheng.
Even though it was just a casual conversation,
it made Li Zhiyan’s heart pound with fear.
No matter what, he couldn’t possibly let his mother go back to work in Magic Capital; he had to keep her by his side, to be a mama’s boy for life.
Li Zhiyan never wanted to be a lonely orphan again.
…
After his mother went out to see Wu Qingxian off, Li Zhiyan returned to his room.
The old second-hand computer, the mouse model from the computer room, the worn little bed, the simple stool, and the cartoon posters on the wall.
All these made Li Zhiyan feel extremely comfortable and at home.
Having a chance to redo one’s life is really too good, too rare.
When Zhou Rongrong came back home and finished washing the dishes, she took off her apron and, wearing a black dress bought from a street stall, entered Li Zhiyan’s room.
“Xiao Yan, there’s no one else here now, so tell Mom, did you get into some kind of trouble, or do you want to get a new computer for gaming?”
Li Zhiyan didn’t answer but instead complimented, “Mom, you look so pretty.”
His mother at this moment was as elegant and beautiful as she had been in his memories from 13 years ago.
He felt it was a pity that he hadn’t inherited his mother’s good looks, but not everything in this world could be perfect.
The world is full of imperfections, but mom mends what’s broken.
“What nonsense are you talking about?”
Zhou Rongrong tousled her son’s hair. Although she appeared unconcerned on the surface, her heart was bursting with joy inside.
Her son had never complimented her on her looks before.
“What’s really going on? Spit it out.”
Zhou Rongrong was convinced that Li Zhiyan was hiding something.
“Really, there’s nothing wrong.”
“You cried like that today; Mom knows you. Only back when you were a child and got beaten up by bullies did you cry like this. Did you get into a fight again?”
“Mom, I really am fine.”
Li Zhiyan reassured her again, and after confirming several times with Li Zhiyan,
Zhou Rongrong finally relaxed.
“I just have a wish.”
Li Zhiyan wrapped his arms around Zhou Rongrong’s waist.
Zhou Rongrong thought to herself, of course, no one in the world understands a son better than his mother.
This kid must definitely be asking her for something.
“Go ahead and tell me.”
“Do you want to work in Magic Capital?”
Li Zhiyan couldn’t accept any possibility of his mother experiencing any mishaps again; her working in Magic Capital was absolutely out of the question.
“How did you know?”
Zhou Rongrong was surprised that although she only had the idea of working in Magic Capital,
Li Zhiyan had spoken it out loud.
“It must be the mother-son connection!”
“Yes, Mom was planning to go to Magic Capital after you start college. You know, housing prices are rising higher and higher.”
“Relying on this job in Wancheng,”
“buying you a house is practically impossible.”
“So, Mom needs to earn money to buy you a house, to get you a wife.”
