Chapter 58 Dream in the Night
Qin Yunuan would skin Qin Linfeng if she could.
In these days of rebirth, she had always been holding the attitude of defense. If anyone had tried to hurt her, she would have let them suffer from it themselves. However, the poison gelsemium elegan in Baochuan’s breakfast was like a slap on Qin Yunuan’s face.
There was a murderous look in her eyes, and she stared at Qin Linfeng kneeling on the ground. After all, he was the eldest son of Qin Zhi, and behind him was the big backer of the Dou Family. They had recently won the bid for the operating right to the Grand Canal from the Royal City to Hangzhou. It seems that even though they were “exiled” to the regions south of the River, they had become more prosperous instead of declined. This was something that Qin Yunuan needed to beware and consider. She would need a long-term plan to take down Dou Qing’e and her children.
Tinghe’s body was temporarily wrapped in a straw mat in a remote place, and Xiu Gu was sobbing in the yard as the only relative of Tinghe.
Seven days were enough for Qin Linfeng to find a scapegoat for himself. However, the hold Qin Linfeng dug in Qin Zhi’s heart wasn’t so easy to fill.
Qin Yunuan led Maner and nurse Liao back to the yard, while Tong had already put Baochuan into bed. When she saw her mistress return, she came out of the house with a letter in her hand.
“Third Miss, young master Su Chenghai sent this letter.”
Su Chenghai?
Thinking of cousin Su whose power was difficult to estimate, but helped her in many ways. Qin Yunuan felt some warmth in her heart.
There were only a few words on the letter, “The return date has been set. Ten in the morning in the First Boite of the Royal City.”
After reading the letter, Qin Yunuan burned it together with the envelope and said gently, “Cousin is leaving the Royal City.”
“So soon,” Tong exclaimed instinctively, “Young master Su Chenghai treated Third Miss so well that I thought he would ask Master to….”
“Ask for father’s permission to marry me?” Qin Yunuan laughed. She knew well about the chemistry between them. It was just that Su Chenghai was not someone she could match. His identity was always a mystery in her heart. “Alright now, what are you thinking, girl?” Qin Yunuan smiled and tried to knock on Tong’s head. Tong laughed and retreated, saying, “There won’t be a next time.”
The laughter in the room seemed extraordinarily lively in this spring day.
After reading the last few pages of the lone copy left by her birth mother Lady Yang, she was a bit tired. Just when she was about to go to bed, she looked into the darkness out of her window. A slight smile came out of the corner of her mouth. She called Maner, who was picking the wick, and said, “Go put a bowl of water above the wall.”
Maner was puzzled, “The wall… above the wall?”
“Someone has been following us for a day. He must be tired,” Qin Yunuan rubbed her slightly swollen eyes and half closed them. Tiredness was all over her face. From the birthday banquet to the wordless contract, and the discovering of Tinghe’s body. The debate and quarrels had already cost Qin Yunuan a lot of energy. As for the person who had been hiding in the dark, he was very likely to be tired.
The light was off in Qin Yunuan’s room. Although she was puzzled, Maner specially prepared a bowl of warm tea and climbed the wall with a long ladder in a corner of the back wall. She deliberately put some ginger slices and nourishing wolfberries to drive away the cold. Maner was smelling the scent of the tea while muttering, apparently confused, “Why would anyone be above the wall in the middle of the night?”
While talking, Maner put the tea bowl there and was about to get down. However, the ladder was left unused for a long time and the last step had been loose. As soon as she stepped on it, she heard a crack and fell down on the right. Within three steps there were sharp and small pebbles.
Maner closed her eyes subconsciously, trying to cover her head with her arms, but only felt that there was a very strong force in her waist to pull her back. Maner opened her eyes in shock, finding herself standing straight in front of the ladder, and the damaged section fell to the ground, making a slight but dull noise at night.
Everything was almost like in a dream.
There seemed to be a trace of warmth left around her waist. Maner was a little bit stunned, and she suddenly understood the words of her mistress. She lowered her head and turned away quickly.
In night, bursts of floral scent flowed through the courtyard with the moonlight’s coldness, together with the sound of time reporters far and near. The night was silent, thick and deep.
Qin Linfeng, who was exhausted for the day, was lying on the bed diagonally. His posture was a bit twisted, just pressing to the position of his left heart. His eyebrows were wrinkled tightly, revealing extreme anxiety.
His hand stroke back and forth on the satin, imagining that it was the skin of the woman he had been longing for which is as white as the fresh snow that just fell to the ground and as smooth as fresh cheese. He kissed her lips in his dream, licking it repeatedly, tasting its sweetness. While his hands were slightly moving down, flexible like loaches, rolling in the cloud silk brocade, seeking the white, tender and soft place. Then he held it tightly, moving back and forth.
His desire could no longer stay hidden. His body was no longer under his rational control, and he began to quickly unfasten his belt and removed his underwear. The heat underneath told him clearly that he loved this woman, and the love was driving him mad.
“Nannan, I want you. I want you now.” Qin Linfeng murmured and talked with his face flushed.
He kissed the lips as beautiful as peach blossom again, and whispered repeatedly, “Nannan, you know how much I miss you.” His hand stroked the face that he had thought about days and nights when he was studying abroad, but a slimy liquid slipped from his fingertips.
He looked at his palm, and there was blood on it. He sat up in shock. Under him was not Nannan whom he couldn’t even forget in his dreams, but was Tinghe who was dead. Blood streamed from Tinghe’s face, from her mouth, her nose, her eyes… It was all red on her body too.
“You! How could it be you!”
“Grand Young Master, it was you who held me and dragged me into your room last night. You called my name too. Grand Young Master, you….”
“Master, when will you take me as your concubine?”
“Master, if I had promised to drop this medicine powder into Second Master’s breakfast, would you just have told Madam about the thing between us?”
“Grand Young Master, even if I had become a ghost, I wouldn’t have let you go.”
“Go away! Bi*ch!” Qin Linfeng waved and roared on the bed, and he widened his tightly wrinkled eyes. His head was sweaty with hands shaking. The sound of the copper dripper in the corner of his room was dripping water methodically. Finally it pulled him back to reality.
Qin Linfeng’s chest was still rising and falling violently, and his mind seemed to still remember the scene in which he had just dreamed. He was not the one to be blamed. The servant girl Tinghe thought of herself too highly .Thinking that she was different with an aunt serving his mother, and wanted to become a concubine of his. If she hadn’t threatened him, how would have he….
Suddenly, a knock on the door interrupted Qin Linfeng’s thoughts.
“Master, the belt has been repaired and I brought it to you.” This was the voice of the maid in charge of Qin Linfeng’s yard. It was strange that there were only servants of old nannies in Qin Linfeng’s yard, but no young servant girls. Dou Qing’e had been worried about it. An adult being the first child of the mansion of Grand Commandant did not even have a servant girl to sleep with him. How could it be well?
“What belt?” Qin Linfeng’s tone was a little impatient. He poured himself a cup of cold tea to hold back the shock.
“The belt you wore to the banquet today. After you bathed, I saw that the seven pearls on it was one short. I spent a lot of time to find it behind the corner door of the yard. Then I just sew it up for you. Should I bring it in to you?”
Qin Linfeng’s hand holding the tea cup paused. He walked to the door in a few steps, and opened the door violently. His eyes were as red as a copper bell, “What did you just say? Black pearls falling from my belt of the Big Dipper, where was it found? ”
The old nanny at the door was obviously a little scared, and she only raised her hand with the belt, and said timidly, “It was in the corner door of your own yard, Master.”
Qin Linfeng only scratched some loose outer shirts and grabbed the belt from the nanny’s hand directly. He saw that the third placket that had been dropped had just been sewed to it without a flaw. He had accidentally scratched the seventh one with a small seal. However, looking down the pearl, he saw the inconspicuous scratch that the nanny deliberately concealed by the thread. This was the black pearl in the original position without doubt.
Qin Lingfeng’s mind was like poked through with countless holes, and breeze went through them.
Clever! Really clever!
Qin Linfeng threw the belt to the ground. His broad robe fluttered like a kite, flying with Qin Linfeng’s rage.
Qin Yunuan! Either you die or I die!
In the morning of the second day, the mansion of Grand Commandant seemed extraordinarily quiet. Today was the day when Dou Qing’e left the house. She knew about the contract Tinghe sent. She originally planned to go all in and go against Qin Yunuan. What she didn’t expect was that she didn’t get what she wanted, but lost instead. Failing her plan was still fine, but she also placed her son under house arrest, and he couldn’t even come to send her now that she was about to leave.
Qin Zhi did not show up at all. He only sent Butler Xie, and his attitude was already obvious.
“Madam, it’s getting late.” Butler Xie hurried expressionlessly.
“Wait,” Qin Yunuan’s soft and affectionate voice stopped Dou Qing’e’s action to release Qin Yunzhuang’s hand and turn around. “Mother, Guo’an Temple is in the north of the suburbs of the Royal City. It is quite far away. Yunuan has nothing much to give you, but I’d never have the chance to give mother the two scriptures you asked me to copy for you. I had deliberately written the words very large, in black and white, so that mother must be able to see it clearly without worrying about your eyes being tired. Please take them, mother, as my regards.”
