An Moer gently relinquished his grip. His fair cheeks were devoid of any color and his face seemed translucent in the sunlight. His features were still beautiful and exquisite nonetheless. He resembled a pure angel in a painting with his shy smile.
His wish had been fulfilled.
In that case, Lai En, I wish you happiness.
He thought to himself as he bit his bottom lip with his eyes peering down. He turned pale and was about to retract his steps.
When he regained control of his body, the girl before him turned ashen-faced and she hugged him.
An Moer was startled.
Yu Chu wrapped her arms around his waist to try to lift him. However, after transforming into a human, the mermaid’s weight had increased to that of a human’s and so she couldn’t lift him.
Everyone around them watched them in a daze.
The prince, who was always elegant, seemed as though he were suppressing his anger. He summoned guards to get a wheelchair and then he pressed the dazed-looking little mermaid onto the wheelchair. With an impassive expression, he left in big strides…
Just when everyone seemed to be at a loss at what they should do, a gentle voice suddenly rang out. Princess Dai Linnuo bowed, looking apologetic.
“Apologies, everyone. She is Lai En’s youngest sister. Her leg was injured, but she still wanted to dance tonight. Even though Lai En has promised her, he is still worried about her. Please forgive the intrusion.”
She swiftly conjured an excuse and succeeded in erasing everyone’s doubts.
Everyone looked as though realization had suddenly struck them. Out of curiosity, they began to chat with the princess. Hardly anyone had noticed that the eyes of the young and beautiful princess were filled with hidden bitterness.
…
Yu Chu shoved An Moer on the bed. Stumped, he was about to sit up when the girl before him bent over and stared at him intently.
“Do you like me?”
It was obvious what An Moer had done.
He had traded his precious voice for a magic potion. He was willing to endure the pain of walking on blades. Her heart ached painfully.
She wasn’t a fool. She knew the story of the Little Mermaid but because Master’s soul was involved it wasn’t just a fairytale anymore. An Moer wasn’t just the little mermaid in the fairytale. He was a fragment of Master’s soul.
No matter what, he would never fall for her. Yu Chu was certain about that.
At least until An Moer had shown up at the ball. If Master’s soul had fallen in love with her… Yu Chu bit her lips suddenly as a trace of strange emotion mingled with her anxious thoughts.
However, that wasn’t possible. The man was unruffled, nonchalant, and had never displayed any excessive emotions. In the past, even when she had lost consciousness in the snow due to the cold, he had merely raised his eyebrows. He remained aloof and indifferent.
She stared at the man before her, looking pale. She pressed her lips and seemed to have entered a reverie.
The young man raised his hand and he formed words using his magic in midair. ‘I said it before, Lai En.’
The girl asked bashfully, “What…”
‘I wanted to come to land to have a look.’
The words changed as the young man blinked and fluttered his long eyelashes. ‘Besides, I certainly do like Lai En. So the first thing I did was to come to Lai En’s castle. I like this place very much.’
He bit his lips and crinkled his eyes.
‘Can I stay here? Then, Lai En wouldn’t have to go out to sea to visit me.’
The pale-looking girl surveyed him. In the end, she retracted her hands and retreated.
