Yu Chu registered for a game account and randomly selected ‘elf’ as her occupation. She contemplated before shamelessly selecting ‘Lovely and charming’ as her username.
The game system replied, ‘The username is in use.’
The system muttered glumly, “What kind of lousy game is this? Why is it called a system as well? How annoying.”
Yu Chu couldn’t be bothered to answer it as she supported her chin with her hand. She tried several more usernames but they were all taken.
Angry, she typed swiftly, ‘Meowmeowmeowmeowmeowmeowmeow’.
1
She typed seven identical words.
The game system replied, ‘Congratulations! You have successfully registered for an account!’
Yu Chu was speechless… Alright then…
She moved the mouse with a hand while supporting her chin with the other. She was navigating her character as she stared at the screen quietly.
The game ‘Everyone in the entire realm’ had vivid details with a variety of preferences. There were many ways of playing the game too. Yu Chu clicked on the table ranking to take a look. First on the equipment ranking was Lin Xinxin’s master, the most popular guy in school, Li Haorui.
His username was ‘A Boat As Light As a Leaf’.
It sounded quite poetic.
However, other than the equipment ranking which required a lot of money, other rankings such as the combat ranking, battles ranking… had the same player who ranked first. Yu Chu squinted her eyes to take a closer look.
‘S’.
Just an uppercase alphabet letter… What a simple and crude name. She glanced at it before closing the rankings. She began her mission as a newcomer.
The new recruits village was the first place where all the new players were sent to. The head of the village would announce a simple task for the new player. It was mainly to help the new players to explore and familiarize themselves with the game.
The first task was running errands.
The village head stroked his beard and said warmly, “Help me to send this letter to Old Liu at the other end of the village.”
Yu Chu ran to the end of the village.
Old Liu replied, “Thank you so much. Can you help me to get my sickle from the blacksmith? He lives at the front of the village.”
Yu Chu then scrambled to the other end of the village. After running in circles for a while, she received a reward for her tasks. She got a brand new dagger and outfit.
Then, she received her first combat mission. The village head asked, “Swordsman, could you hunt for a few rabbits?”
She immediately set off with her dagger in hand. She hid in a bush outside of the village for some time before she succeeded in capturing several plump rabbits.
Just as she was about to return to the village, the screen suddenly flashed an alert warning with red words from the system.
The game system announced, ‘The fiery cloud beast is heading towards you!’
Yu Chu blinked and zoomed out to get a clearer view. She saw a gigantic red beast advancing towards her. The fire cloud beast belonged to level 10 missions. Yu Chu, who was merely a new player at level 3, certainly wouldn’t be able to fight it. Hence, she navigated the elf on the screen to avoid it hastily.
However, the beast was way too swift and she didn’t have time to avoid it. The screen flashed red and the system notified her. ‘You have been killed by the fiery cloud beast. You will be revived in 10 seconds.’
The time taken for new players to be revived was relatively short. Yu Chu watched as the elf laid on the ground.
The beast on her screen was still roaring and only then did Yu Chu notice a person on its back. The person was perhaps an assassin and had tried to conceal his identity. Only now did he reveal himself as he raised his sword to deal a fatal blow.
The movement was swift and agile. Yu Chu felt that he was rather handsome and dashing.
Her fair and slender fingers tapped the keyboard lightly. The screen’s faint light illuminated the boy’s exquisite face. His beautiful face was nonchalant.
He glanced at the elf lying motionless a distance away.
