958 Diagnose Uncle Zhang!
“Well? What can you see?” Uncle Zhang snorted. His cool eyes shifting toward the young woman in front of him. His eyebrows were raised as if he was daring her to say something—anything.
He didn’t really trust Yao Tang’s skills. That was evident in itself.
Despite this, she wasn’t the slightest bit fazed. “You’ve had an operation. It’s due to your appendix bursting six years ago. Recently, you’ve had trouble sleeping. In fact you’re taking medication for it now. Also, it’s been a long time since you’ve slept with your wife,” she said all of these calmly.
Uncle Zhang fell silent. He gazed at her for a long time before nodding.
“As expected,” he said. “You’re right.”
He then turned to Meng Ling as a smile slipped into his lips. “Ling’er, you’ve superseded my expectations. With her on our team, our research will finally progress in the right direction!”
“I know, Uncle.” She nodded, grinning. “This is specifically why I’ve called Yao Tang over. She could help you with the stagnant development of our medication.”
“Yao Tang?” He paused.
“What’s wrong?” Meng Ling furrowed her eyebrows. “Do you know her?”
“Well…” He glanced over at her again. His eyes were shifty, and his hands were twitching. “Actually, I’ve heard a lot about her. I heard that she’s from the countryside, and how she wasn’t popular with the Yao Family at first—that was, until she climbed the ranks. My girl often mentions your name.”
“But she isn’t quite fond of you. She thinks you’re always bullying your sister behind your back.”
However, before he could speak anything more, he immediately added, “Of course, it seems that I’ve misunderstood the entire matter. After seeing your medical skills, it seems that what my daughter has been hearing was nonsense.”
“That’s right.” Meng Ling nodded firmly. “Good people like Yao Tang are often the target of these misconceptions.”
“Of course. Shall we go?” Changing the subject, Uncle Zhang led them to the laboratory where they were immediately surrounded by a bunch of curious men in lab coats.
“Sir, who’s this? How could you just casually invite some outsiders to our lab?”
“Our data!”
Everyone was so confused and distraught by their sudden appearances as they glanced back at their test tubes, worried that the new visitors would cause a rampage.
“This is bad,” one of them spoke out. However, instead of looking at the new visitors, he was gazing at the test tubes. “We’re already at the last step, but the molecules couldn’t stand the purification process? I don’t know…Doctor…”
As soon as everyone heard this, they turned back and hurried inside.
They had spent a whole month designing this medication. If they failed, that meant that they wasted yet another month of sleepless nights and stressful mornings.
They couldn’t have that!
Yao Tang silently followed behind.
Inside the laboratory, Dr. Liu and another lab assistant were staring nervously at the machine at the center of the room. Beside it was the computation of the supposed “perfect ratio” followed by completely imperfect data.
“This can’t go on. If this continues…the drug wouldn’t be effective.”
“Yeah, we should stop and restart.”
“Don’t you think I don’t know this? But what else I could do?”
He had been experienced in his field, but if he had stopped it now…this meant that all his research would be invalid. What was wrong? What was happening?
He gritted his teeth in frustration.
Just as he was thinking about how he could improve it, a shadowy figure sped through the crowd as the fusion was taking place. As they were all gazing at the machine, she was already adjusting the proportion of herbs, choosing to combine most of them.
It was so fast that many had overlooked it. Only when she had finished did he manage to yell out,
“Who are you? What are you doing?”
