Chapter 292: Saving Food For Her Little Disciple
The meat started to sizzle and the already intoxicating fragrance reached another peak when he sprinkled some green cut-up leaves on it.
Yuan Chu covered her mouth to stop herself from salivating. A moment later, Weisheng Ji placed the roast meat into her hand, and after sprinkling a type of purple leaf into the soup, he served it to her in a crudely made wooden bowl.
With these two items in her hands, Yuan Chu felt very satisfied, then it was time to eat with great relish! It was so delicious that Yuan Chu became speechless after taking a bite. Night had fallen and she was sitting beside the firewood. The skirt she was wearing was dirty but she didn’t care, sat in the haystack as she ate her meat and soup. With glossy eyes, her mouth bulging and oily, she was very satisfied.
Weisheng Ji had busied himself for an entire afternoon for this meal. He seldom cooked and would usually eat a fasting pill so he also gobbled it down.
With her mouth stuffed full of food, Yuan Chu thought that this made him more amiable. Little Yuan Yuan ate in a very refined manner, his movements elegant and soundless. Weisheng Ji’s way of eating provided more satisfaction.
When Yuan Chu was half full, she suddenly stopped moving. When Weisheng Ji saw this, he pointed to the meat that was being kept warm beside the fire and said, “We’re eating half each, all those are yours, you don’t have to stand on ceremony.”
Yuan Chu wiped her mouth, then she said rather embarrassedly, “Then……can I bag some to takeaway?”
“Why?” Weisheng Ji looked at her in confusion.
Yuan Chu laughed, “This is truly too delicious! Moreover, it’s something that’s exclusive to the Mystic Realm of Bones and cannot be found outside so I want to pack some for my disciple to eat. He’s definitely not eaten this before.”
Weisheng Ji felt a little uncomfortable when he heard this, but on second thoughts, she was supposed to show concern for her disciple. So, he gave her an interspatial ring.
But when he saw Yuan Chu secretly swallowing her saliva as she hardened her heart to pack the food, he couldn’t refrain from saying enviously, “Actually……when I was younger, I had also wanted to acknowledge you as my master.”
“Eh?”, Yuan Chu was done packing and was holding the interspatial ring between her fingers when she heard his words. She looked up at him in confusion, then she watched as Weisheng Ji ate the meat in a manner as if he were venting, as he said in low spirits.
“During the mountain opening ceremony competition where the personal disciples were chosen, I wanted to win first place and take you as my master.” It’s just that he’d been defeated by Ye Chenyuan back then, and it was such a pity when he thought about it now.
When Yuan Chu heard this, her brows curved and she said with a smile, “Hehe, then you’re lucky, because it isn’t easy being my disciple.”
She recalled how Ye Chenyuan had always busied himself because of her and finally felt pricked by her conscience. She said embarrassedly, “Besides, I don’t know how to teach at all. Little Yuan Yuan studied everything by himself……”
Weisheng Ji didn’t reply, but he thought to himself unhappily that although it’ll be good if she could teach and look after him, what he wanted even more than that was a master like Yuan Chu who was constantly thinking about him.
Just as he was about to speak, he noticed that there were two suspicious people sneaking up on them. They’d been lured here by the fragrance.
Weisheng Ji knitted his thick brows, “Who is it?!”
Not expecting to be found out so quickly, the two people were startled and turned to run but within a few seconds, they were caught and brought back by Weisheng Ji. Yuan Chu looked at the two thin and emaciated people in surprise.
“You’ve also come to the Mystic Realm of Bones to train?”
They’ve become so thin from hunger, isn’t it too tragic?
The two were startled and afraid, trembling as they asked, “What Mystic Realm of Bones? I-I don’t know! This is the Shu Kingdom!”
Yuan Chu exchanged glances with Weisheng Ji. Weisheng Ji thought of something and said under his breath, “These people might be native to the mystic realm so they don’t know what the Mystic Realm of Bones is.”
Yuan Chu became spirited when she heard this, “Natives!”
She fixed her eyes on one of them as she asked, “Do you cultivate?”
He looked at her in confusion, then a few moments later, he asked nervously, “Cultivate what? Are you……from the Daoist temple? Daoist priests still exist?”
Weisheng Ji said, “The spiritual energy in this mystic realm is very sparse, making it very difficult for them to gather spiritual energy. So, this place is probably an ordinary world, the kind that doesn’t have any cultivators.”
So that’s how it was!
Yuan Chu looked at the both of them with sparkling eyes. Every person in the Heavenly Continent cultivated. Even those that couldn’t cultivate would cultivate their bodies, so it was her first time seeing pure mortals.
But why were they in such a tragic state? That shouldn’t be the case……
“Is your kingdom suffering from a famine?” When Yuan Chu saw that their legs were trembling, she grinned, “Don’t worry, we’re not bad people.”
With this, the two people confirmed that Yuan Chu wasn’t from their land. Moreover, the young man who had caught them could even fly. They’d long heard that in far away lands, there were people who had attained the Dao and could cultivate, who would occasionally come to the mortal world. Perhaps that was them?
At this thought, they became excited and quickly knelt before Yuan Chu.
“Great Immortal, you have to save us!”
Yuan Chu tilted her head slightly as one of them wailed, “Great Immortal, it’s not a famine, but all the common people are suffering! Our lives were good before, but two years ago, a black hole suddenly appeared on the borders of our Shu Kingdom. That black hole became larger and larger, then many monsters started emerging from it! Not only do they eat people, but for those that are bitten, if they don’t die, they’ll also become monsters!”
“They’re very strong, such that none of the kingdom’s armies were a match for them. Now, the kingdoms are no more and the common people have fled in all directions. The two of us only dared to come into the forest to look for food because we’re very hungry and at our wits end.” Yuan Chu was stunned when she heard this. That’s right! The people of this land couldn’t cultivate so they had become food for the monsters. It’s just that, the natural laws of heaven had always been about balance. As such, the monster’s land should be separated from the mortal’s land. What was going on?
Weisheng Ji analysed the situation with a frown, “I think……it’s possible that a cultivator might have accidentally destroyed the boundary between both lands, causing them to merge. If this goes on, those scorch beasts will definitely occupy the mortal world.”
Yuan Chu frowned when she heard this, “Who is so wicked? It’s vile of them not to mend the boundary promptly after destroying it!”
Weisheng Ji questioned, “Then……what do you want to do?” Yuan Chu could not use her spiritual energy right now so she mustn’t try to push herself too hard. So, with a very pandering smile, she scooted over to Weisheng Ji’s side, “How about this. You can help them! After all, those scorch beasts are only at the level of early stage Qi Condensation and they’re nothing to you.”
The corner of Weisheng Ji’s mouth twitched, “Wouldn’t I be asking for trouble if I did that?”
Yuan Chu touched her head, “But we have nothing to do anyway. Besides, you might even obtain some virtue by helping them?”
“But it might be dangerous.” Hearing this, Yuan Chu patted her chest as she said, “You don’t have to worry about that. If things start going awry, I’ll take off the mystic realm token and help you. Anyway, with me here, there’s nothing for you to fear! You can be rest assured and boldly do your thing!”
