Chapter 12
As I walked around with the idea of familiarizing myself with Black Town, there was a group that caught my eye. It was different from those who stumble under the influence of alcohol or those who walk on the street looking frivolous.
A pale man in a black suit and coat was walking in front of the group. His hair, eyes, and clothes were all in black so he was very striking. To be honest, I felt better when I saw his face.
Black eyelashes and a sleek nose that curves sharply, closed lips. A graceful stretched neck and firm-looking shoulder. Long legs that move quickly but not lightly. And even an expressionless face that feels as cold as ice.
The most handsome man I’ve seen recently was Leonhart—it’s been too long since the last time I saw my brother—but this man’s handsomeness isn’t inferior to the prince. He looks a little different from Leonhart, who’s a fresh-looking flower boy type.
“Miss Riana?”
“Oh, yes, yes!”
The charisma of the black man grabbed my attention and I lost my focus without realizing it. I only came to my senses when Teil called me.
Said Teil, who noticed where I was looking.
“That group is the demons who are in charge of this Black Town.”
“That person is….?”
Behind the black haired man was a man with light-green hair and a black haired woman.
The man’s face was full of tiredness as if he had spent several nights staying awake. Even my face when I was mending my dress was better than his.
The woman was dressed in tight trousers. She seemed to have the best figure I’ve ever seen. Honestly, I was a little envious.
They stopped in front of a casino with signboard decorated with colorful lights. When the man said something to the guard in front of the door, the guard greeted him then went inside. A moment later, a man who appeared to be the caretaker jumped out.
The caretaker bowed to them 90 degrees and treated them very politely.
“Sorry, I’m sorry. I’ll correct it quickly. Hey, what are you doing? Apologize quickly!”
“I was wrong. Please forgive me just once!”
I tried not to look at them too much, but I could hear them.
From a side glance, some people were begging for forgiveness from the demons. Their faces were blue with terror.
“They’re very good, in many ways.”
“Their authority is absolute in Black Town.”
“What’s going on?”
“I don’t know, but they must have done something to disrupt the order here. This place isn’t within the reach of the law, but some order must be maintained so that they can manage it.”
“I’m afraid I’m going to get distracted for nothing. Let’s go.”
I rushed Teil after realizing I was distracted for nothing. As I tried to walk only on the main road, I could see nothing but the same sight everywhere I went. Gambling, entertainment, shops selling bizarre items, people who seem crazy….
“Can I go into the alley?”
“….It’s not dangerous but … you might not want to see it.”
If it’s not dangerous, I can go in. But what is it that I don’t want to see?
I looked up and stepped toward the alley.
“….Hiik.”
Soon after I found the shadow of a man and a woman, I quickly covered my eyes with my hands. Why the hell … in this place…..
Struggling to the unexpected damage and trying not to give as much attention to it as possible, I made my way into the sideways.
“Because it’s daytime, there’s not much.”
“And at night?”
“These are even more prominent, but the bigger problem is that there are more illegal transactions and cruel crimes. You’d better not come at night.”
I was able to witness some couples overlapping their bodies several times while walking around the alley. They didn’t seem to care much about who saw them.
As I walked, there were more and more unrepaired broken walls and I could no longer see people doing promiscuous things. It was when I came out on a broad road past a narrow alley, Teil suddenly stopped walking.
“Mr. Teil?”
Clank!
Wait, what.
Suddenly, I felt like Teil was swinging his arm to strike something, and the next moment there was a dagger in the tree next to him.
It seemed that Teil had changed its track by hitting the flying dagger.
“Kes, we got caught.”
“That’s why I said we should wait and see, Millia.”
A couple of man and woman showed up. I’ve never seen their faces before, but it seemed like Teil recognized them.
“Genosid … Millia….”
“Do you know them? I don’t think they’re very friendly to us.”
“They belong to Marron Merchant.”
“What?! Then why are they attacking us?”
“I don’t know—”
Once again the dagger flew in. This time it wasn’t just one. The woman seemed to be specialize in blowing a dagger. It seemed to be hard to avoid if Teil was not quite fast, as she was flying several daggers at the same time.
When we were panicked by the endless daggers—I’m the only one who panicked—the man came in using a sword.
Teil seemed distracted by the man’s attack as he struck out the flying dagger.
“Why are you attacking us for no reason! I’m just carrying out a client request.”
“It’s not without a reason.”
A man named Genosid glanced sideways at me who stood still.
“Is that her? The one who gave you the information on magic stone?”
“Magic stone, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
I almost lost my expression but Teil replied without changing his face. Maybe it was because he didn’t know I sold the magic stone information to Magnolia. Fortunately, I’ve been shaking with fear since a while ago, so even after my expression changed a little, it didn’t seem to show much.
“The Magnolia Trade have the magic stone information. I don’t think the company figured it out on its own. Didn’t somebody provide you the information?”
“Your conclusion is harsh. Even if someone provided the magic stone information, it has nothing to do with us.”
“Ho, Kenneth Relampago’s dog is escorting else, and you don’t think it’s suspicious? How important a client she is, to the point you’re the one who escorting her? If you think about it a little, the answer is obvious.”
“We were just short-handed.”
“Bullshit.”
Teil seemed to be quite powerful man, as he could afford to talk to Genosid while changing the trajectory of the dagger flying towards me.
In the conversation just now, it seems like he’s usually working as a close associate of Count Relampago, but I can’t believe someone in that position is being mobilized for this humble request…..
Was I that important to the Magnolia Trade?
After all, they seemed to have attacked us with the idea they might be able to find out more about the magic stone. The vicious rumors about Marron’s business were flashed through my mind.
“Millia! You hold her while I tie this guy’s feet.”
“Can you deal with him without my cover?”
“Do I look that weak?”
“Sorry, sorry.”
The dagger was no longer flown. Instead, the woman named Millia flew away.
“…..!”
Teil stopped Millia from rushing toward me. Blood was flowing from one of his arm. He allowed the attack because he was rushing to my side.
“You’re working in vain.”
“Well, I’d like to hear it directly from her whether it’s in vain or not. Would you please stepped aside?”
Millia, seemingly weak at a close-range attack, had once again stepped back. Again, as before, Genosid attacked Teil and Millia supported him with dagger.
However, Teil’s injury seemed to speed up his energy consumption.
“You came to this suspicious place with a woman who gave you magic stone information. There’s something here, isn’t that right?”
“It’s not like that—”
“Are there any magic stone here?”
“I said no!”
It was then.
—Tuk.
The dagger, which was flying in the air, fell to the ground. It wasn’t just that. The sword that Teil and Genosid were holding trembled and bent.
Flustered by the suddenness, I couldn’t say a word and just watched the scene. The other three seemed surprised as well.
“Stop it.”
I rolled my eyes and looked at the side where the sound came front, and there were the demons who had passed by stood.
At the front were three eye-catching demons, followed by fifteen or so demon soldiers pointing their weapons at us.
As it was before, the appearance of the man standing at the front and leading the soldiers continued to draw my attention. This time again, he was the most obvious figure to be seen.
However, the sword in his hand was very unusual. Black hair, black eyes, black clothes, black blade….
….wait. That’s….
“Cha—”
Unconsciously, I opened my mouth and shut up in a hurry.
Demon Magic Sword Chaosblade. It’s a sword with dark power that a blacksmith from a long time ago made with all his heart and soul. It features a sword blade made of dark ore.
Not only that.
Chaosblade was a token given by the Demon King to his successor. It was an object that showed full trust in the successor, and it was a very powerful sword, so it was impossible to temporarily leave it to someone else.
Then, having a Chaosblade meant that there was no doubt he’s the heir to the throne, the Prince of the Demon world.
This man was the Demon’s Prince.
When I realized the fact, I suddenly felt as if time was passing very slowly.
The person I was most interested while reading The Story of Ramona was this man, not the male or female protagonist.
I can’t believe I’m actually facing him.
It was a monumental event, but this was not a situation to be sentimental.
I imagined a few things to come. I hope it won’t be the worst imagination.
The demon woman, who was standing beside the prince, spoke in a calm manner.
“I can’t believe this commotion has been happening in broad daylight. I can’t tolerate this.”
The Demon’s Prince stared at us with cold eyes. I felt unknowingly atrophied by the sight of considerable pressure.
“I think I heard the word magic stone.”
It was Teil that overcame that sense of pressure and opened his mouth first.
“I’m ashamed of myself for causing a commotion. This woman and I here for nothing to with the magic stone, but the of them misunderstood and attacked us.”
“Is it true?”
The Prince looked alternately at Genosid and Millia. They bit their lips.
They couldn’t refute it right away. Even if they try to deny it, it’s true that they attacked us, so it was difficult to quickly think of a plausible excuse.
“….It was just a mild problem.”
“Why is there a magic stone story in a mild problem?”
“That’s….”
Gazing at Genosid and Millia, who had become honeyed chicks, the Prince turned his head toward us this time.
“You’re saying as if you’re not at fault, but I think you’re equally suspicious. Why did you come all the way to this ruin?”
This time I was in need of an answer. Teil was just guilty of following me, and here I was supposed to say something, but somehow in front of him a clumsy lie wouldn’t work.
“I won’t say much. I’m going to kick all four out of here.”
When the Prince raised one hand and shook it lightly, the invisible shell wrapping around the entire body was released.
