Jin Si looked at Xi Huanran’s angry face and scoffed. “You’re just a brat without all her teeth. Bite me? Ha!”
Xi Huanran was even more upset upon hearing that.
With clenched fists, she shouted, “My teeth will come out whole and healthy!
I’ll bite you then!”
Jin Si smirked. “Ambitious.”
With that said, he set Xi Huanran down and examined her.
Xi Huanran resolutely stood strong with her head raised in an attempt to stare up at him even though he towered over her.
After a while, Jin Si pulled out a jar of lemon drops from his coat pocket. Xi Huanran’s eyes immediately lit up. “Lemon drops!”
“It’s not for you,” Jin Si calmly stated. “I can only give you two pieces.”
With her lemon drops at risk, Xi Huanran forgot all about her earlier vow and quickly nodded in agreement.
Jin Si watched as Xi Huanran unwrapped her lemon drops. For a moment, he could not help but think of Qi Wu.
Qi Wu was not as demanding as Xi Huanran. She would never resort to tricks, no matter how much she wanted the candy.
The moment she looked at him with those innocent eyes, he would be powerless to resist.
Once Xi Huanran had both lemon drops in her mouth, she snapped out of her happy stupor and realized what he said. Puzzled, she asked, “Whose lemon drops are these?”
Jin Si did not answer her, so she began to speculate on her own. “Could it be that you’ve developed a liking for lemon drops too?”
Speechless, Jin Si glanced at her before turning her around with one hand as he walked past her to head into the house. “Let’s head inside.”
Xi Huanran quickly followed him.
When they entered the living room, they caught the attention of the man sitting in the living room.
Xi Huanran excitedly called out, “Daddy!” Jin Si greeted the man with a nod, “Shichen.” Fu Shichen set aside his tablet with a smile and said to Xi Huanran, “Weren’t you determined to settle the score with your uncle just now? How did you make amends so quickly?”
A child’s anger was fleeting. Once Jin Si appeased her with two pieces of lemon drops, Xi Huanran was no longer upset with him.
She shook her head. “We made up! It’s because we have something in common now.”
The honest look on her face intrigued Fu Shichen. “Oh?”
“We both like lemon drops!” Xi Huanran solemnly declared.
Jin Si was at a loss for words once more.
Jin Si looked away when he saw Fu Shichen’s meaningful gaze directed at him.
Suddenly, Fu Shichen started talking about Jin Si’s work. “Do you know about the new talent Chang Xun is managing?”
“I do.”
Jin Si’s reply was simple and to the point as his face remained as cold and calm as ever.
Fu Shichen’s eyes lit up as he continued, “Chang Xun has been singing her praises for the past couple of days. It’s like he’s talking about you. Still, she does seem to have potential. She’s trending on social media again. Apparently, it’s because of her connection with an esports player.”
“The internet loves esports professional players and female celebrities. No wonder they’re trending.”
Jin Si was puzzled.
Was that true? Why did he not know that?
“Boring,” he coldly commented.
Fu Shichen watched Jin Si walk up the stairs before looking away.
Just then, Xi Huanran who had been playing with her doll nearby rushed over to hug Fu Shichen and mysteriously said, “Daddy, Uncle likes to watch the pretty lady on TV.”
Fu Shichen was taken aback.
His reaction was no different from Mr. Xi’s earlier reaction. They both wondered if she was actually talking about the same man they were thinking of.
Xi Huanran pouted at his lack of response. “Daddy, you don’t believe me either, do you?”
Fu Shichen smiled and wrapped his arms around Xi Huanran. “Of course, I do! Tell me more about this.”
When Jiang Xuxu and the others returned to the villa, they quickly noticed that Qi Wu and Qin Jiayan were trending online. They could not help but feel envious.
“Qin Jiayan, that brat! I haven’t even gone on a single headline with Sweetie!” Jiang Xuxu indignantly exclaimed.
She picked up her phone and started to message Qin Jiayan in the group chat, playfully threatening to beat him up.
Tong Luo, on the other hand, leaned in to watch but did not join in on Jiang Xuxu’s playful banter.
“Are you meeting up with Mr. Song tomorrow?” Tong Luo asked.
Qi Wu nodded.
After a moment, Tong Luo softly asked, “Can I sit in to observe?”
The strange look Qi Wu shot at her caused Tong Luo to feel slightly anxious. “I-Is it okay?”
“Why do you want to observe someone who isn’t acting properly?”
“Huh?”
Tong Luo was confused.
Qi Wu then frowned as she sadly explained, “Mr. Song said I am so bad at the basics that I can’t even act properly.”
Qi Wu fell silent.
That did sound like the Song Qi she knew.
Afraid that her silence would hurt Qi Wu, Tong Luo hurriedly said, “That’s fine. I’m okay with it. I may look experienced, but I was worse than you when I first started out.”
She then launched into a story of her past experiences.
As a child, the Tong family did not care for her. After she became a child star, she was taught by acting teachers her agency assigned to her.
Tong Luo did not think much of her career at first. She only focused on improving when her teachers kept punishing her. Eventually, she found joy in acting.
Eventually, she forgot the purpose of her story and just kept talking.
A few minutes later, she suddenly realized what she had done when she saw Qi Wu smiling at her.
“Sorry, I…”
Qi Wu shook her head. “You glow when you talk about the past.”
As Tong Luo stared in astonishment, Qi Wu wrapped her in a hug. “You’re doing well. Keep shining bright.”
Even after Qi Wu left, Tong Luo could still feel the warmth of the hug.
Who could resist Qi Wu’s gentle warmth?
No one.
When Song Qi saw that Qi Wu and Tong Luo came together, he did not say anything.
In fact, he even allowed Tong Luo to teach Qi Wu the basics of acting.
Noticing Tong Luo’s surprise, Song Qi waved his hand and said, “For the next few days, teach her the basics of acting. Don’t worry. You can learn a lot from her even if it’s something that simple.”
Tong Luo took Song Qi’s words seriously.
During their practice sessions, Tong Luo quickly realized what Song Qi meant.
Qi Wu had an incredible ability to seize control of the scene.
A single glance from her would have Tong Luo instinctively shifting to accommodate her.
As a result, Tong Luo no longer sought guidance from Song Qi and instead focused on rehearsing with Qi Wu.
Tong Luo felt like drowning in that sensation every time they performed together. After a while, she gradually regained her old sense of self-control.
After another round of rehearsal, Tong Luo and Qi Wu were sprawled out on the carpet to rest.
“Nervous about the competition happening in two days, Qi Wu?” Tong Luo asked.
Contrary to Tong Luo’s expectation, Qi Wu nodded. “Yes.”
Tong Luo straightened up in surprise. “Why?”
Qi Wu had always been calm and composed, seemingly unaffected by everything around her..
