Chapter 30: Why

Jian Sangyu knew that what Gu Chen asked about was to do with the call Jiang Xing made to her a few days ago and the call he made to her this afternoon.
She threw a look at Gu Chen who was obviously very fickle and she was not sure if he suddenly came home because his call didn’t go through. Anyway, Jian Sangyu made up her mind that she would set Gu Chen’s ringtone as a very special one so that she could tell that it was from him the instant the cell-phone rang. It had to be a ringtone that was the loudest and noisiest.
Jian Sangyu would certainly choose to receive a call from him rather than to confront him.
“Speak” Gu Chen said in a more serious tone seeing that Jian Sangyu was silent after a long while.
“I have been busy. When Jiang Xing called me, I didn’t know I had received a call until a while later. So I didn’t call him back since it was too late. When you called this afternoon, my cell-phone was in the closet so I failed to hear the ringing.” Jian Sangyu explained quickly. “Don’t worry, I will definitely have my cell-phone with me all the time so I can answer the call whenever I can!”
After saying those words, Jian Sangyu took a look at Gu Chen and asked out of curiosity. “The reason that you came home all of a sudden was because I didn’t answer your call, right?”
Gu Chen threw a glance back at Jian Sangyu and answered in affirmation.
Standing still, Jian Sangyu responded after a few seconds. Seeing Gu Chen standing up from the sofa, she took a step backwards of her own accord.
“It is too dirty at home. I just called a cleaner to tidy it up. We can have dinner outside.” Gu Chen took a look at Jian Sangyu and asked her to go out with him.
“It is not necessary. You can return to the Guardian and I will go back to the dorm. If no one lives here after the cleaning is done, then the cleaning won’t be necessary, will it?” Jian Sangmu mumbled in a soft voice. She was not mumbling to herself. Instead, she was trying to tell Gu Chen what she was thinking, trying to get sympathy from him. Of course, it would be better if he could praise her as being smart.
However, Gu Chen threw a look at her and said, “You are home already, why must you go back to the dorm?” Having said thosewords, Gu Chen grabbed the car key placed on the table, walked out of the door waiting for Jian Sangyu whilst pressing the elevator button downstairs.
Jian Sangyu was happy that she didn’t have to drive. So she put down her stuff on the sofa, took the purse and followed Gu Chen out.
The September wind was quite dry yet very cool. As Jian Sangyu sat in the passenger’s seat and leaned against it, she looked at the scenery outside the window. Maybe it had been because of the intensive training today, she felt quite sleepy as the breeze brushed against her face. Then she fell asleep.
It had been less than five minutes before he drove the car out of the parking lot, and Jian Sangyu had fallen asleep within such a short while.
As the road lamp fell upon Jian Sangyu’s face, Gu Chen took a closer look at her. He found that she had a layer of black rings under her eyes and he assumed that she had not been taking proper rest these days. She was asleep at the moment, but she still looked obviously fatigued.
Gu Chen softened his grip upon the steering wheel when he thought of how Jian Sangyu talked about her busy schedule. But he soon tightened his grip again.
