Gu Chen was not irritated. Instead, he continued to drink his tea as he said in a slow tone, “You said that it was the entire Gu Family.”
“I don’t agree with you though, I think Sangyu and my Jiang Xing are in a great relationship with each other, and she has been showing a wonderful smile to me as well.” Gu Qingxi was feeling quite good about herself.
Hearing Gu Qingxi mentioning Jiang Xing, Gu Chen was startled for a few moments. He had to admit that Jian Sangyu and Jiang Xing had a very good relationship with each other. Or maybe it should be said that Jian Sangyu, Jiang Xing and Mina were in a very good relationship with one another.
“I heard that Sangyu has started to work?” Grandpa Gu lifted the tea cup and sniffed. Without saying anything more he lowered his head and took a few sips. “Do you know what work she is doing now?”
Gu Chen came back to himself and subconsciously turned towards the yard. At this moment, Jian Sangyu was whispering something to General as she bent down and placed one hand upon General’s back. She was saying something into General’s ears and the expression of her face looked rather sneaky.
That was a very familiar expression to Gu Chen who understood that she must be asking General to do something.
Grandpa Gu waited for a few seconds and received no answers. Then without Gu Chen’s reply, he tapped the table and urged Gu Chen. “Don’t tell me that you have no idea about your wife’s work!”
“I do.” Gu Chen nodded. “She says that she is out for some art-related work, maybe something to do with piano.”
“Art-related? She told you that?” Grandpa asked in surprise. Then he thought for a few moments before he realized something, and then he threw a look at Gu Chen and showed an expression of dissatisfaction and deep meaning.
Grandpa Gu nodded as soon a smiling expression emerged. Gu Chen, who had been watching the yard, did not notice the meaningful smile on Grandpa Gu’s face.
Art was indeed a very vast word.
Grandpa Gu couldn’t see what was wrong with Jian Sangyu’s reply, yet since Gu Chen thought of her as someone who was devoted to the piano, Grandpa nodded and answered briefly.
Gu Qingxi, however, sounded quite surprised. “Sangyu is doing work now? That’s good. She was so famous with her gift in playing the piano. I felt that it was such a pity that she dropped her job after she got married. Many people at that time had asked me if it was because of my father who disapproved of her being in public, so much so that she quit performances and contests.”
Grandpa Gu became extremely furious when he heard these words. He bellowed directly, “Am I so old fashioned and stubborn? Gu Chen should be the one that is old fashioned and stubborn! I have nothing to do with it!”
Gu Qingxi got dumbfounded. She explained in a small voice, “I didn’t say it was you! So bad-tempered, so irritable! The reason Gu Chen has become like he is today is all because of your stress!”
Gu Qingxi was someone who ran away after she annoyed the tiger whilst Gu Chen sat still making his tea. He did not even open his mouth to make Grandpa happy or try to make him less annoyed. Instead, he behaved like a robot who kept making his tea, adding tea or drinking tea until a voice came out from around the door. Then he moved and threw a look at the woman and the dog at the door.
Jian Sangyu released General’s rope as she came through the doorway. The rope was useless when they weren’t outside so she let it go. Then she just threw herself onto the seat and when she saw Gu Chen pouring the tea for her, she drank it up and shivered because of the heat and thirst.
Seeing Jian Sangyu empty her cup within one second, Gu Chen was not sure whether he should be concerned about his tea or laugh at Jian Sangyu for being so silly.
Jian Sangyu did not throw a single look towards Gu Chen. After she calmed down from drinking her tea too quickly, she patted General’s head and said, “General, time to eat some snacks!”
