Chapter 55: Gone
“We are not going back, we will take a walk with Chief Gu despite the danger!” Jian Sangyu glanced a sideway look at the man next to her and seeing that Gu Chen did not look into her direction, she leaned forward to General’s ears and mumbled something to him. Next second, General tilted his head at Jian Sangyu and then started to wag his tail in front of Jian Sangyu.
“Let’s go!” Jian Sangyu stood up after pampering General. She came to Gu Chen with a smiling face and stood at attention. “Sir, General is now happy!”
Grandpa Jian and Grandpa Gu used to be teammates, and Jian Sangyu grew up being a wild child in the yard. So it was just a piece of cake for her to stand at attention.
The entire compound consisted of expensive villas and each villa stood very far apart from each other. The compound was environmentally-friendly and well-designed by famous garden designers with a style of ancient gardens that resembled those in Suzhou and Hangzhou. Therefore, the compound was full of trees, flowers and grass.
That provided great convenience for Jian Sangyu who was suffering from the heat. After she left home, she started to walk under the shade of thickly leaved trees. At the beginning, she was worried that Gu Chen would be crazy enough to ask her to walk in the sun with her, so she kept looking into Gu Chen’s direction to see where he was.
Luckily, Gu Chen had not gone that crazy yet.
There was almost no one in the compound at this hour and Jian Sangyu was just thinking about what excuse to give so that she could leave Gu Chen and take General to somewhere else, when she heard some barking from a short distance away. Update at l.istnovel.com
A few seconds later, an old man who was at Grandpa Gu’s age, was walking towards Gu Chen and Jian Sangyu with a dog leading his way.
“….” Jian Sangyu looked up into the sky and let out a sigh inside her heart. So there was someone else who was interested in walking the dog at this hour of summer. This grandpa truly had an extraordinary interest.
The grandpa knew Gu Chen, so he greeted Gu Chen and Jian Sangyu when he saw them. When he saw General, he smiled, “I thought that only Grandchild would come out at this hour, but General has this hobby too?”
Grandchild was that grandpa’s dog. If Grandchild had not barked constantly at home, a man of this age would not have come outdoor at this hour.
Hearing what the grandpa said, Jian Sangyu lowered her look at General, thinking that General had to be the scapegoat for this event.
Old men tended to be talkative, and they often talked a great deal whenever they found a topic and ran into a friend.
Seeing that the grandpa had caught Gu Chen as the person to talk to, Jian Sangyu threw a look at General, bent her back and tiptoed away from Gu Chen.
This girl and this dog dashed off, and Gu Chen, who was engaged in the talk with the grandpa, did not notice them at all.
Maybe it was probably because Gu Chen was too cold and distant, so that after five minutes, the grandpa stopped his conversation, realizing that Gu Chen was not a very interesting person to share topics with.
After all, Gu Chen only replied with simple answers no matter how much you talked, and he would never find a topic of his own to share.
