Chapter 19: Don’t Open Doors Randomly
Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
After a fierce hand-to-hand combat, four people died. The bitter reality frightened everyone.
The survivors all regretted their choice. If they decided to remain there, perhaps they will starve to death, but it was better than this. The possibility to die any second and waiting for death in a safe environment were two completely different concepts.
A boy turned around at Wang Cheng furiously and grabbed his collar with trembling hands, “You! It’s all your fault! I’m going to kill you!”
As he spoke, he clenched the knife in his hand tightly and stabbed towards Wang Cheng.
Psychologically affected by horror and fury, the boy’s eyes were red and killing intention filled his face as his movements weren’t hesitant at all. Obviously, he lost his sanity from fear… People in this state were dangerous as they could do anything impulsively.
Clang!
Although it was sudden, Xia Na quickly reacted. She turned her wrist and knocked the knife out of the boy’s hands.
Liu Yuhao was stupefied and snapped back when he heard the metals clash. He dashed over and grabbed the boy, punching him heavily in the face, “Are you crazy?!”
Wang Cheng’s face was pale and his body trembled uncontrollably. After he finally caught his breath, Wang Cheng’s glance towards the boy became extremely sinister.
The boy who was punched was also stupefied. He climbed back on his feet trembling even after quite a while as if he lost his soul. After his impulsive action, his thoughts were chaotic. He couldn’t be blamed as when ordinary people experienced death so closely, it was inevitable for them to have a mental breakdown. However, humans were good at accepting. They would return to normal quickly from the meltdown as they must accept the reality.
Ling Mo, who had been watching coldly aside, noticed Wang Cheng’s glance and his heart trembled.
It made all the hairs on his back stand up after seeing such expression appearing on a gentle-looking student…
“Enough, we should leave now.”
Xia Na’s expression wasn’t well either after losing five students in such a short amount of time. After seeing an internal fight, her tone of voice immediately became cold.
Wang Cheng was alarmed and glanced at Xia Na nervously before forcing a smile, “Let’s go.”
He was almost killed yet he could smile in a blink of an eye. This person’s scheming nature wasn’t proportioned to his age… Ling Mo secretly sighed and turned around for Ye Lian before following Xia Na and the rest out of this business building.
They temporarily left the area with the most zombies and the rest of the journey was easier by comparison. They even rested for a while at a supermarket on the way. They needed to search for food to regain their energy and if possible, find some extra food for dinner.
It was obvious that the supermarkets in the city had already been ransacked numerous times. Cutting tools that could be used as weapons and most importantly, food supplies, had been taken. Although there were some remains, but they were under collapsed shelves, disgusting remains of blood, plasma and even amongst the bones.
The surviving environment in the apocalypse was cruel and it was good enough that they could find something to eat. After entering the supermarket, these survivors immediately started looking for it.
Ling Mo saw that Xia Na was guarding the door, he felt relieved and took Ye Lian around the rather big supermarket.
The supermarket was filled with the strong smell of blood and rotten flesh and remains of corpses could be seen everywhere. Many ingredients that could be made into food like rice had gone bad and became inedible. But even if they found edible rice, they still couldn’t cook rice here with fire.
After Ling Mo’s consciousness power improved, he felt like he was much more sensitive than before. For example, under the same vision and same observation skill, he could notice details that he would only glance at before. More accurately speaking, although he didn’t really care about these details, he remembered them as soon as they entered his field of view.
Perhaps that was why Ling Mo noticed Want Cheng’s expressions. He wasn’t concerned with a seemingly ordinary survivor and merely glanced at him before…
Although he didn’t gain anything from the supermarket, he faintly felt that something was wrong here.
It felt like someone was watching him!
But after he glanced around, there was no one there. Ling Mo frowned as he observed the environment inside the supermarket closely. Before they came in, Xia Na and Liu Yuhao already searched it once and found out that all zombies were killed. Logically speaking, there should be no one there other than them.
There were too many shelves and Ling Mo’s line of sight was limited, it was difficult for him to look at all the corners of this supermarket clearly.
When he walked through the shelves with Ye Lian, his body tensed and happiness filled his face.
He sensed a trace of strong thirst and a strong desire to attack! It meant that there must be a mutated zombie in the supermarket!
But why did he sense it only now… Intense bad vibes suddenly filled Ling Mo’s heart.
“Argh! Save me!”
As expected, a miserable screech immediately sounded and Ling Mo rushed towards the voice’s direction with Ye Lian at once!
Of course, he wasn’t going there to save them, but for the mutated zombie!
After crossing a few rows of shelves, an extremely bloody scene appeared in front of his eyes. In a half-opened warehouse door, there was a survivor whose arms were torn off and his intestines being pulled out, yet his eyes were still widened as his body twitched lightly. There was another boy who charged at him like crazy. Ling Mo looked at him. It was Lu Xin.
“Help! Help me!”
No matter how much he hated Ling Mo, Lu Xin threw himself in horror towards Ling Mo for protection in a situation like this.
However, Ling Mo’s pupils dilated and didn’t even glance at Lu Xin as he controlled Ye Lian and charged from the side.
It was a big guy chasing after Lu Xin! He was at least 180cm tall and his body was filled with fat. Extreme thirst for blood flashed violently in his pair of small red eyes but his movements were agile. He dashed behind Lu Xin in a blink of an eye and slapped Lu Xin’s body with his hands as big as a palm-leaf fan. Lu Xin screeched miserably as he flew a few meters out.
“Holy shit!”
It was still shocking for Ling Mo to watch a living human getting slapped away in front of his eyes. No wonder he could amputate a living human with his speed and strength.
The situation was obvious; Lu Xin and the other survivor who was almost dead recklessly opened the closed warehouse door and let out the mutated zombie which was trapped inside.
Randomly opening doors in the apocalypse, aren’t they looking for death?
