Chapter 32: Multipersonality

It was almost midnight and the room was pitch black. Xia Na, who had been laying on the bed motionlessly, suddenly opened her eyes.
Ling Mo saw Xia Na’s eerily red eyes shine in the dark from a distance clearly. He could also feel a sense of desire through Ye Lian’s instincts; it was the reaction she would only have when she met her own kind, especially a mutated zombie.
Did Xia Na complete her mutation? Ling Mo carefully approached her as he wanted to observe her closer in detail.
But when he stopped in front of the bed, Xia Na leaped up abruptly and threw herself towards Ling Mo in a completely dark room.
If it was a normal person, they would probably only feel a gush of air in front of them and get ripped into pieces without realizing what had happened at all. In the darkness, the zombies’ vision was much better than a normal person’s and they took advantage of it.
Naturally, it was impossible for Ling Mo to see Xia Na’s movements clearly in this situation, but he could see it clearly through Ye Lian’s eyes. When he first approached the bed, he was already on guard.
When Xia Na moved, Ling Mo immediately jumped to the side. At the same time, Ye Lian who had been sitting on the bed quietly leaped up and grabbed Xia Na’s arm from behind. Although Xia Na reacted quickly and turned around to attack Ye Lian, Ling Mo threw himself over and pinned Xia Na onto the bed.
This was a zombie’s weakness: a lack of judgment. They attacked based on their instincts and they were easily distracted.
But Xia Na’s struggling made Ling Mo’s work hard. If he didn’t control Ye Lian and pin down Xia Na tightly, she would’ve escaped already.
But when Ling Mo turned her around and he was preparing to control her, she suddenly spoke in a low and confused voice, “What are you doing?”
“Huh?!’
If he didn’t witness Xia Na’s extremely powerful attacks just now, he would have thought that Xia Na was still human!
Ling Mo looked at Xia Na’s eyes in shock and realized that her blood-red eyes returned to normal!
Ling Mo’s eyes became adjusted to the darkness and although his vision was still blurry, he could somewhat see Xia Na’s eyes and expression since they were quite close. From her reaction, it looked like she was clueless about the current situation. Ling Mo saw the confusion in her eyes and he felt like he was struck by a lightning.
After Ye Lian evolved, he saw this kind of expression on Ye Lian’s face temporarily. It looked like she regained some consciousness and it looked like she was beginning to learn how to think instead of only knowing to slaughter! Although the expression disappeared soon, it was carved deeply into Ling Mo’s heart. To Ling Mo, it was hope and he looked forward to Ye Lian regaining her consciousness back!
But right now, he saw the same expression in Xia Na’s eyes and unlike Ye Lian, she could speak…
“Xia Na, Xia Na?” Ling Mo stared into space for a while before snapping back. He quickly grabbed Xia Na’s shoulders and shook her violently as he called her name in a low voice.
The noise from the room disturbed Wang Cheng in the living room. Even Liu Yuhao woke up from the noises.
“Brother Ling! Did something happen to Xia Na?” Liu Yuhao asked nervously with a panicked voice.
Ling Mo didn’t even turn around and ordered, “Don’t come in!”
The situation was still unclear and they would only be a burden if they came in. Ling Mo was in a hurry to know whether Xia Na was a zombie or a human.
Perhaps she was simulated by voices, but Xia Na finally had other reactions other than confusion. She didn’t answer Ling Mo’s question but struggled crazily as her eyes turned red once again. The franticness which belonged to zombies took over her heart once again.
Ling Mo quickly made Ye Lian pin Xia Na down and he tried to use his power to control XIa Na again. If she continued on like this, both of them would be hurt in the end. The most important thing was to suppress her desire to attack right now,
Xia Na’s light ball of consciousness was very different from Ye Lian’s. Speaking more accurately, Xia Na’s spirit light ball was an entire ball of mess in his eyes! Compared to a completely unconscious zombie, Xia Na’s light ball wasn’t blurry but extremely clear and bright. But the intertwined red and white fighting for reign was something Ling Mo had seen for the first time! Right now, it was obvious that the red part was ruling over white. Xia Na became more hysterical and when he tried to control her, he felt a sense of pressure that he never felt before.
Luckily, he strengthened his spiritual power and although it was hard, he finally suppressed Xia Na’s instinct when he was almost rolling his eyes as he seized the control over.
But because Xia Na still had some consciousness left, Ling Mo didn’t take complete control over her but controlled her like Ye Lian. He only constructed a spiritual link with her, making her unable to attack and stop her when she wanted to attack others.
Ling Mo was drenched in sweat but Xia Na finally quieted down. Ling Mo rubbed his temple as he slowly got up from the bed and looked at Xia Na with complicated expressions.
Xia Na sometimes looked like a zombie and sometimes looked normal. Ling Mo couldn’t help but think of a word: multipersonality.
Xia Na was infected and ate two gel parts consecutively. The virus in her body wasn’t neutralized but invaded her thoughts. But because she ate the gels, her physical body was tested by the virus numerous times and it was preserved perfectly without rotting like Lu Xin. It was the most fortunate out of all the unfortunate events.
After Ling Mo controlled her and forced down her desire to attack, Xia Na quieted down once again and even her eyes returned to normal. However, she still looked confused and she wasn’t fully awake yet. Even so, it was a lot of effort for Ling Mo to control her in this state.
Of course, it was good that he could maintain the spiritual link between them and it was difficult for him to control her movements.
Ling Mo was under extreme pressure as he controlled a mutated zombie and a zombie with the multipersonality disorder.
Liu Yuhao couldn’t hold it back and rushed inside. He froze in his spot when he saw the room.
He ignored the messy bed, but the blank look on Xia Na’s face on the bed made him exclaim in happiness, “Xia Na didn’t turn into a zombie! She didn’t turn into a zombie! Hahaha, Xia Na!” As he spoke, he dashed to Xia Na and grabbed her hands excitedly.
“Don’t touch her!”
However, Ling Mo was still a second too late. As Liu Yuhao’s hands touched Xia Na’s arms, Xia Na left her confused state and became hysterical again. The bloodthirst in her eyes became brighter and brighter and she would’ve attacked Liu Yuhao already if Ling Mo didn’t control her.
Liu Yuhao stumbled back in shock and looked at Ling Mo in horror. “What is happening?”
It was impossible for him to tell Liu Yuhao that he could control zombies, but he thought of a reasonable explanation, “I guess it’s the after-effects… You shouldn’t touch her right now. She’ll lose her sanity.”
“After-effects?” Liu Yuhao widened his eyes but he didn’t question Ling Mo’s words at all.
Indeed, there was no other way to explain Xia Na’s situation other than after-effects. Xia Na’s eyes were filled with bloodthirst as she stared at Ling Mo closely like those zombies. However, she sat there without moving an inch. Did that mean that she still had some consciousness left…
