Chapter 42: Grandma, we Broke up

“Girl,” Shen Qian Yun slapped Gu Xiao Xiao’s leg and gave her a look, “You got one round skinnier than last time. Tell me, did someone wrong you?”

Gu Xiao Xiao hasn’t gotten the chance to react to Shen Qian Yun’s words when the cellphone in her pocket rang. She took it out and saw Chu Yi Chen.

She suddenly remembered that she hasn’t called Chu Yi Chen after getting off the train. Gu Xiao Xiao stuck out her tongue and picked up.

“Hey.” Gu Xiao Xiao said softly, “I have arrived and eaten. I forgot to call.”

“Okay. As long as you got there.”

After such simple words that confirmed her safety, Gu Xiao Xiao hung up the phone and looked over to Shen Qian Yun.

Gu Xiao Xiao and Shen Qian Yun were sitting close together so Shen Qing Yun heard everything she said to Chu Yi Chen.

Gu Xiao Xiao returned suddenly this time. Shen Qian Yun found it strange that she was home and the person calling wasn’t Mu Yun Fan.

“Speak. What happened?” She smiled and asked Gu Xiao Xiao.

“What-what happened? I just missed you and wanted to visit you.” Gu Xiao Xiao hugged onto Shen Qian Yun’s arms and leaned into the couch. She said with much courage and excitement, “There are fewer and fewer opportunities for me to return now. So I need to work hard and make a lot of money so I can buy a giant mansion and bring you over to me!”

“I am a set of old bones. I am not going to meddle with you young people.”

“No, no, grandma, you aren’t old. You need to be with me or else I will be worried!”

Gu Xiao Xiao originally thought Shen Qian Yun would ask why they broke up. However, she didn’t ask anything.

“Xiao Xiao,” holding onto Xiao Xiao’s hand, Shen Qian Yun pitifully looked at the girl before her, “Grandma doesn’t wish for you to make loads of money or buy a giant house. Grandma just wants you to be happy. Do you understand? Since you have broken up, then don’t think about everything that’s happened before. Life is long and you cannot look backward, you need to look forward. I won’t ask you anything. Now that you are back, just rest.”

Gu Xiao Xiao’s eyes turned damp at Shen Qian Yun’s words. She wasn’t an emotional person but all these years, she has used all her strength and effort to work hard in City B. Sometimes, she really hoped for someone to tell her that she doesn’t need to work this hard and she should just be happy. But in the end, her waiting led to nothing.

“Stupid girl, why are you crying? So your boyfriend is gone. Our Xiao Xiao is so pretty, there is no fear that you won’t find someone better.” Wiping away Gu Xiao Xiao’s tears, Shen Qian Yun comforted her gently, “New things only come when old things go away. Don’t you agree?”
