Chapter 53: How long is the missus planning on having me live alone?
Chu Yi Chen had no plans to tell Shen Qian Yun the truth so quickly either. He merely wanted to play a joke on Gu Xiao Xiao and didn’t expect her to react so strongly.
He forced Gu Xiao Xiao’s body to move backwards a few steps until her back was against the wall.
Chu Yi Chen extended his arms until his hands were on the wall. Gu Xiao Xiao looked at his hand and then into his starry eyes, she nervously pursed her lips.
“I’m ok with you not telling grandma, but you have to think about how you want to make it up to me.” Chu Yi Chen lowered his head and his lips brushed against Gu Xiao Xiao’s lightly. With a sly smile, he looked at her reddening ears then he said in a low voice, “Missus Chu, how long are you planning on having me live alone?”
“I… grandma is waiting for me for dinner. I am going back first!”
Gu Xiao Xiao didn’t know how to answer Chu Yi Chen’s question and just shoved him away. She then ran to the door and rang the doorbell while sneakily checking out what Chu Yi Chen was doing, terrified that he would follow her.
The moment the door opened, Gu Xiao Xiao dashed in impatiently and closed the door. Shen Qian Yun checked out her red cheeks and asked with a frown, “Why is your face so red? Did you get a fever?”
“No, no!” Gu Xiao Xiao explained quickly, “The wind outside was blowing too much. I’ll be okay.”
After entering the living room, Gu Xiao Xiao looked around and saw Chu Xiao Xi, who was lying on the couch with the look that seemed like she had lost the will to live.
Marching forward, Gu Xiao Xiao kneeled and pinched her cheeks.
“Did you still not find the artist of that print?”
Gu Xiao Xiao’s words stabbed Chu Xiao Xi where it hurt. She got up and then hugged Gu Xiao Xiao tightly. With a sad face, she howled and cried, “I don’t care. I have to use that design. If I can’t find the artist, I’m postponing the press conference!”
“Alright, alright, alright, let’s not get flustered.” Gu Xiao Xiao patted Chu Xiao Xi’s back and comforted, “There will be a way. Trust me.”
Shen Qian Yun heated the food and after eating a bite, she went back to her room. Only by 11:30 did she carry her laptop back to her bedroom.
Lying on her bed, Gu Xiao Xiao stared at the print on the screen in a daze. It was an oil painting of a seven-or-eight-year-old girl. The girl wore a pretty flower halo and was smiling brightly under the dazzling Sun.
Gu Xiao Xiao was attracted to this painting right away. Though she has no artistic genes, she found this painting to be pretty.
Dong, dong.
Someone knocked on the door. Gu Xiao Xiao told them to come in without raising her head, thinking it would Chu Xiao Xi.
“Xiao Xiao, why aren’t you sleeping yet? It’s so late already.” Shen Qian Yun looked over to Gu Xiao Xiao and the computer. She walked over and said sternly, “You have work tomorrow. Sleep right now.”
“I know, grandma. I am just thinking if there is any way for me to help Xiao Xi.”
Shen Qian Yun looked over to Xiao Xiao’s computer. After seeing the painting, she was a little startled.
“I heard Xiao Xi on the phone today. She is looking for the original artist of a painting?” Shen Qian Yun asked in a whisper.
“Yes, the original artist for this print. She needs copyrights before she can use it. Or else the press conference may actually be delayed.”
Gu Xiao Xiao knows Chu Xiao Xi’s personality. She does what she says. If she cannot find that artist, then Chu Xiao Xi may really indefinitely postpone the press conference.
